    no that pass to Landry was a re route and Tanny missed him. That's all. Threw it way too far ahead

    That said Tanny didn't have a bad game. Not great, but not bad either. After last week that's a good start.

    I agree he should have caught it, but would you agree a slightly better throw and he likely does?

    If there was a LVP award (least valuable player) for last night's game.. I'd give it to Sims.

    I mean, sure, but you can't expect the quarterback to throw a perfect pass every single time. You have to catch those balls when they hit your hands. Those aren't drops in the flat either. That was 20 yards down the seam.

    Mistakes like that are a big part of why we are where we are. Shooting ourselves in the foot way too much.

    I believe those things are instinctual but can be developed with time and practice. He showed flashes of it last night, which made me happier than anything else that happened that game.

    I've gotta go with Sims. Fumbled once, dropped a few passes and caught one but didn't get the first down to redeem himself.

    Only reason I'm not going with Grimes is because Taylor screwed up royally as well.

    Don't be so hard on Grimes, he's being asked to shadow some great WRs and he's getting little or no safety help.

    Yeah, totally agree. Grimes has been terrific given his age, size, injuries and what he has been asked to do. Worthy of being one of the 50 greatest Dolphins past 50 years. As a fan I took him somewhat for granted he has been so good over the past few years...at 33 years of age next season Miami needs to address the CB position in the off-season, again. At 5'10" and having to play Dez, which he did admirably, and Marshall when dealing with injury and now Odell.

    Odell is simply the greatest WR in the "history" of the game 25 games in. No one else is that close with Moss being a distant 2nd:

    25 games into career:

    Odell = 175 catches, 2625 yards, 24 TD
    Moss = 110 catches, 1957 yards, 23 TD
    Julio Jones = 112 catches, 1890 yards, 14 TD
    Rice = 94 catches, 1801 yards, 12 TD
    Megatron = 93 catches, 1595 yards, 11 TD
    Antonio Brown = 85 catches, 1275 yards, 2 TD

    And those highlight real catches including last nights first TD and catch to put the game away...UNBELIEVABLE!!!

    Replay on the deep pass to Williams that he let go thru his fingers showed him stop at 3 yards into his route, then re-engage and try to catch up to the ball. No idea WTH Williams was doing there - or why he didn't lay out for that ball.

    So wouldn't that mean the ball was actually underthrown by 10 yards rather than overthrown by a yard?

    Not necessarily as receivers can vary their speed/adjust to balls in the air. That said, you can under throw a football 10 yards and still complete a catch. Something you can't do if you over throw by 10 yards. Watch the replay and draw your own conclusions on what happened.

    The biggest reason for the regression is the simple fact the system has been figured out by the NFL, chip kelly isnt the mad genius everyone made him out to be.

    also the pass to sims was a good throw sims whiffed on it and it cost us 7. another was the throw to williams, tannehill had to hold on for a second longer since williams was engaged with the corner, and then took off running again, and tannehill was facing another unblocked defender coming at him. the throw still went through his hands. why isn't lamar miller running that route? you have a great and amazing talent like lamar miller, yet instead of creating a miss match you put a scrub like williams out there.

    the play at the end to landry,landry was gimped as hell, stopped and tried to take off again(while gimped) i think a healthy landry catches that pass.

    also another play i think we missed was near the end on third down. we once again(like gruden was saying all night) face a 3rd and long, the giants were bringing at least 6 all night. you have a horrid oline yet you go into the empty set, no one to pick up that 6th man to give the qb a chance to make a throw, instead the pass rush comes through and forces a quick throw for an incompletion. looking back on the play if we had a running back to pick up the blitz for a split second longer, jennings was wide open and probably could have walked into the endzone.

    Watkins, Dez, Marshall, Beckham, Hopkins, he's shadowing top tier receivers week in and week out. Pretty much any DB will not look good.

    The scheme isn't helping either. Jones is in the box most of the time, Thomas and Aikens, guys who actually are playing like trash, aren't getting over the top on any of the deep throws. The CBs are left out to dry.

    The post to Beckham last night, Grimes has outside technique, there should be a safety protecting the deep middle. I'll have to go back and check what happened but that was just ugly. No CB should be put in that type of position vs any decent WR.

    So, you believe that Odell would have had significantly more against a different CB? Or Dez? Or Marshall?

    Odell, highest yardage total of the year
    Dez, sucks this year
    Marshall, two of his highest yardage totals were against us, 128 and 131.

    Grimes was not covering Odell on the blown coverage it was Taylor which accounts for over half his yardage on that one play.

    Grimes was hurt during the Jets game (knee) and ended up leaving the game. Marshall is a tough matchup for him b/c of his size. I am not saying Grimes is Richard Sherman, but he has done a hell of job as a Dolphin. Odell even had himself a great day being covered by Sherman his 5th game as a pro...7 catches 9 targets 108 yards. Sherman was very complimentary of Odell after that game which isn't like Sherman.

    Dez' QBs suck this year and he has been hurt. Dez actually asked Grimes for his jersey after game.

    I dunno, there's a reason why "Grimes falls in coverage" was on the Bingo board. LOL

    That being said, I agree, he has been put on an island an awful lot, and that's not ok.

    on one of the beckham touchdowns, jones misread the route, jumped it and hung grimes(iirc) out to dry.

    Are we talking the wide open TD to OBJ? because I think that was all on Taylor, he was the only DB in the area that didn't pick someone up, I think he made the wrong read.

    I'm not sure. I don't remember when in the game it happened or I would look it up on the recording. On the play to which I'm referring, it wasn't Jones' sole responsibility. I think it was Taylor, but Jones should have read it better and assisted, but he just kind of froze in that one spot.

    Reshad bit on the slant to Randle. There's argument as to what the coverage was. Some say cover 2 while others say cover 3.

    What he said is a huge stretch and you're just baiting. Are we just going to continue to pretend like the MNF game was a microcosm of the Tannehill era?

    It was easy for me to predict a loss, but not for the reasons given. When have we had the defense do this poorly, this many dropped passes, a fumble, and this many yards given up because of penalties all in one game with Tannehill demonstrating good pocket presence?

    The reason we lost are the main reasons I gave before. We have a 3-10 MNF record and we've had several coaching staff changes this season. The Giants have Eli Manning, Tom Coughlin and are fighting for the top spot in their division.

    They can get away with that in the NFC Least. Coughlin and Manning have proven themselves a worthy tandem, especially in big games.
