It would bring me much joy if Mike Shula took over for the Miami Dolphins and brought them back to dominance.

It read like you were crediting Chip Kelly's offense (that made Foles a football god) for the reason why Ryan Tannehill had success in 2014.

I am making that argument, although obviously it didn't translate as well. Lazor's is similar though and was QB friendly until it was figured out, the same way Kelly's was.

If that's your standard it should rightly be referred to as a Joe Gibbs variation on the Coryall offense.

Okay, fine, but Lazor has also been influenced by Dan Reeves, Mike Holmgren and Chip Kelly.

I referred to the most recent, modern influence.

Nonetheless it was not "the Chip Kelly offense". Chip's biggest influence was on the shotgun being the standard, and some of the run concepts. The pass concepts were all from Lazor, mostly Gibbs.

The tempo, the formation shifting, the play-call approach, the route combinations, etc.

Far as I can tell the only things he took from Chip Kelly were backfield formations (shotgun with the back either in side-car or behind and to the side), some zone run concepts, and some spacing/misdirection concepts specifically for the run game (e.g. getting fast players moving opposite the direction of the ball pre-snap and post-snap).

I'm just not comfortable calling it the Chip Kelly offense in the way that you'd refer to Erhardt-Perkins, Coryall or WCO.

Lazor ran a much more different version of the spread....ecspecially with a huge difference in tempo.

2 other teams in the NFL run a spread offense, Chip Kelly in Philadelphia......Bill O'brien in Houston.

We all know what our offense was with Lazor, currently Philly's spread is ranked 14th in PPG, Houstons 25th.

This isn't the Big 12....the spread is terrible approach imo.

Fitzpatrick is having a better season than Tannehill, but it's one season. That game can be played by anyone. I'll show you.

    2013 seasons:

    Ryan Tannehill: 60.4 COM. 3,913 YRD. 6.7 AVR. 24 TD. 17 INT. 81.7 RAT.

    Mystery QB: 57.5 COM. 3,818 YRD. 6.9 AVR. 18 TD. 27 INT. 69.4 RAT.

    Who had the better season?

By the way, that mystery QB just smoked our defense two days ago.

Oh no, I meant it in a loose manner. I realize it's not 100% Kelly's offense.

Up to that point they were as even as QB statistics get. The main difference is salary. I'm not claiming Fitz or Tanne will always play that way.

Yeah, Eli is pretty inconsistent too. Whether or not it's fair, he's proven himself in other ways. I'd love for Tanne to have as much help as he's had.

You'd be surprised how many people around here have wanted to run Eli out of town. He's inconsistent but he's still a damn good QB though. He's just prone to a lot of boneheaded turnovers.

I'm not surprised. A lot of NY fans I've spoken with, and there's a lot of them in South Florida, are pretty ignorant. It's the same way with forums I've read.

It depends how you weigh it. The point is there's influences from Kelly, Holmgren, Reeves and Gibbs. How much credit should be attributed to each is difficult to tell. Aside from plays, tempo and concepts, what we see out of the offense mostly depends on matchups.

I'm not arguing that he's not a good coordinator, but if other NFL teams laid off hiring him as a HC then maybe there were teeth to the rumors that he lost the team down the stretch, that's what I'm concerned about.
