It seemed to me like you were saying they are a better team, demonstrated by the fact that they are fighting for first in their division. Like, that was one reason you expected the Dolphins to lose. The other was our terrible MNF record.

If that wasn't what you meant, why would you bring up that they are fighting for first in their division?

I'm saying continuity matters. I'm saying Coughlin and Manning have proven themselves in big games. We have no continuity and we haven't proven ourselves in big games.

What does continuity have to do with a 5-7 team fighting for first in their division?

Monday's result is a microcosm of the season in how predictable it was. Teams are who they are.

Our mediocre offense (20.3ppg) couldn't take full advantage of a bad defense (24.6ppg), even at home. We scored about the average of what the Giants defense give up; that's what mediocre offenses do.

Their top-10 offense (26ppg) took advantage of our bad defense (25.5ppg). They outscored our defense's usual average; that's what excellent offenses do.

    Ok.

It's fine if you don't really have an answer. You could just say, I didn't realize what the Giants record was when I referred to them fighting for first as a reason why they're better than the Dolphins.

Unless you really did realize their record was that bad, and made the comment anyways.

Not trying to hijack your guys discussion. Just responding to my view why the Giants have a better team. First, they have been competitive in every game this season, but one. They have lost only 1 game by more than 6 points. Miami on the other hand has been non-competitive in 5 games (all divisional games) and lost by 7 or more (sometimes much more) in 7 of their 8 losses.

Second, the Giants clearly have the better QB, who is capable of winning close games and the biggest of games. In fact, has done so...twice. Of course, there is also that Odell Beckham guy. Holy **** that kid is a STUD! Not only was the 1st TD catch incredible, the catch he made to essentially end the game was one of the best catches I've ever seen. How did he keep that ball from touching the ground? Damn near impossible, yet it didn't.

All you did was look at the record? The giants are a better team

    What?

You acted like the Giants had their **** together because they were competing for first in their division, even though we had the same record going in and they are just in the worst division in football.

No...ignorant is making a claim based on them fighting for first place, then when confronted with the facts, saying you were really arguing about "continuity. "

Ummmm...I didn't bring the record up initially, as proof that the Giants were better. They may be a better team, but their overall record didn't show that prior to the game. Nor does one win different, while technically "better," prove them as really anything more than the Dolphins.

Regardless, finsfandan brought up overall record. I was disagreeing with his premise that a team that is 5-7, but fighting for first place, is better than a team that is 5-7 but not in first, going purely off of record.

How did I act like anything? They were and are competing for first place in their division. I've called it the NFC Least many times here.

Try again. What desperate attempts by you and resnor.

I never even said "record" in my post about the Giants LOL

The only record I brought up was our MNF record. You guys are grasping at straws.

Oh, I see why you two are harping on this. I said they're fighting for first place in their division, which is true. The reason I brought it up is because that equals an automatic playoff spot.

I figured you guys knew that. Guess I was wrong.

If you were arguing why you thought the Giants would win Monday's game, their being in contention for the division doesn't mean much, because they were competing for the division with a losing record - a record identical to ours. That statement alone is not a strong argument if your point was to say it was obvious we were going to lose.

I mean, I don't really care, but that's why I brought it up.

Yeah, this was what I was taking exception to. What does their record, in a crappy division, have to do with anything? They were 5-7, that's nothing special.

Isn't Tom Coughlin the guy that most Giants fans wanted gone?

I'm not talking about their record. I didn't even say record when referring to the Giants. I'm saying they're fighting for a playoff spot and this was a huge game. A game that we rarely do well in (3-10). Coughlin and Manning have proven themselves in big games.

I feel like blocking you and Fin D at this point. It's really ridiculous how hard you two are trying to argue when you have no point.

Then block me, I don't care. Your point wasn't clear, that isn't my point. Reading your post, as is, it sounds like you're arguing that the Giants are better because they are fighting for first place in their division. Don't you understand, when you say "fighting for the top spot in their division," most reasonable people would understand that to mean that you are talking about their record, since that's how you determine who's in first place in their division.

You know, what would be easier, and would solve this stuff, would be if when people make a mistake, they would just say, "Yes, I was unclear. This is what I meant." Instead, you act like others are being stupid, and making stuff up about you.
