I can't even begin to tell you the amount of hatred I have for hoping we lose to improve our draft pick.

Seriously gets me so pissed I gotta walk away from the boards at times.

Winning a bunch of meaningless games lost us a shot at Andrew Luck. Yes once you've lost the season you should tank to get a better pick.

winning gets us a worse draft pick. we have absolutley nothing to play for. pride u say? we havent shown any all year. why start now? playing for jobs? we already know who the ballers are. doesnt matter anyway. we are what we we are. a bad football team. i hope we loose out, get a top 5 pick

We should certainly try to win the game, not foster a culture of losing, but at the same time see what we have in Tony Lippett and whoever else- how about some Chris McCain and maybe some more Zack Vigil? Play the young guys, fight like hell, and if we lose we get a better draft pick. I can live with that. Now back to Jim Carrey:

That logic proved to be wrong when we drafted Ronnie (made of glass, no second gear) Brown.
What about Jake (I can't pivot my hips, slow feet)Long.
Worked well didn't it. Go Dolphins. Win out.

Sorry. There are coaches and players who are playing for their future contracts .There will be no tanking of the season .Chargers are injury ridden and a complete mess .I think we win this game.

Having said that this team has become experts at self destructing and that could happen.....again.

To me it's always been the same. When a player quits on his team get him the F out.
When a fan caves to lose games I want no part of it. Bad cultural losing mentality. A better draft pick doesn't dictate a better NFL football player.
    Glad to see you understand.

look, i understand the mentality of winning out and players and coaches playing for jobs. i am a very frustrated fan like most of you on here. my thinking is we showed no will to win all year long, lost to crappy teams, so with a handful of games left and no shot at the playoffs, the only thing left is a high draft pick. yes the young guys need playing time, but we should have been playing them weeks ago. its not like the players in front of them were any good. i agree we do need to hit a home run if we get a high pick, but we have to be in a position to do so. every year we suck, then win a couple and mess up our draft status.

Don't forget that kook Dion Jordan

Even though we traded up to get him, it proves higher picks dont mean anything.

    LAST WORD
Tackle Branden Albert on Interim Head Coach Dan Campbell’s message: “Coach did a god job in the team meeting (Wednesday) telling us we’re still playing for something. This is game for what have you done for me now. We’ve all got stuff we’ve got to prove, including me. We’ve all got to finish out strong and hopefully generate some momentum for next year.”

So you are telling me at 4:25 you will be rooting for the Chargers to beat the Dolphins?
Just narrowing it all down to one simple question.

yes i will be rooting for the dolphins as i always do, but if we loose i will be thinking better draft pick. i root with my heart so always for the win, but realistically we should loose because these games are meaningless now. i already know what we have in the vets and its not very good. by all means play the youngsters, let miller get his 1000 yrds etc.

Tell that to the players on the field putting themselves and their bodies at risk. See how that works for you. They're not going to play to lose a game, especially when for some, they aren't guaranteed to be back next year, or anywhere for that matter. Not to mention all the guys coaching for potential jobs elsewhere when the new staff comes in next year... In a fan's eyes... it makes sense, for everyone else invested... it makes no sense.

A better draft pick is just a silver lining to a losing season. The question is, are you a fan of football, or the hype that is the draft?

We get the team playing together well enough to win, which requires improving on what has been making us lose. I'll take that every day over a better draft pick, because one player seldom makes enough of a difference to generate a win for an otherwise losing team. Ndamokung Suh says hello.

a good Gm would argue with you..

its not about rooting for players to lose, or players tanking it, thats ridiculous, its about the message from the front office to play all young players for evaluation going into next year, its about telling the vets, you couldnt get it done when it mattered so step aside, we have a future to worry about, now if those young players go out and lose then so be it, good to know..its the proper way of tanking..lots of folks get it all twisted with players not playing hard..lol

No, a good GM would find impact players without needing a top 5 pick.

people talk about losing to get a better draft pick as if out front office is competent to get a good player. We had the 3rd overall pick once and picked a guy that is suspended multiple times and has 0 impact for the team while being active.

    LET'S WIN!

I don't disagree with that, deej, but it's not like having like the 11th or 12th pick will mean we can't find an impact player. A ton of impactful defensive talent will be available throughout the first round.

rock, you dont make sense, a higher pick is a higher pick, its a big time better position to be at if you know what your doing, I understand you can find talent later in the draft if your good, but facts are facts..of course a good gm would prefer higher position..but if he doesnt a good gm will find a good player, just maybe not as good..and thats the point..
