What doesn't make sense? Having a higher draft pick doesn't guarantee anything. Plenty of busts there too. My point is actually very simple. You can find impact players picking in the 10-15 range too.

The front runners for Rookie Of The Year on defense were picked 18th, 45th, and 50th.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be upset if we had a really high pick, but I don't think it's necessary to in order to find top-end talent. And I'm certainly not going to be rooting against my team in order for it to happen. If we do lose, that sucks, but at least we do move up in the draft. That's my mindset. Higher draft pick is a silver lining, not my preferred outcome.

I think that works in NBA...or for a player like Luck...but outside of that football teams do not play this way man
You have to many players who are playing to make the team next season...or make other teams next season. For as short as NFL players careers are...the team, front office owes it to them to play to win every single game.

That being said....you also play your rookies...or other players you want to evaluate...maybe rest your players like Suh more. But the goal is and always will be to win.

If I knew the Dolphins would be able to draft Lynch, Goff, or Hargreaves, I would have no problem with them losing their last three games.
Other than one of these three players, I really don't see any other player I see as an immediate impact player or a long term answer at the QB position for the Dolphins.

So either they need a top 4-5 pick to have a chance at one of these players or they might as well win out and just take their chances on a mid first round selection again.

i get it. we allways want our team to win, but anyway u look at it,being in a position to draft a higher pick is always better than being in the 10-15 range. yes our gm has messed up high draft picks in the past, but that doesnt mean they will mess it up this year. say we run the table, do we forget the bad losses we took this year, how bad some of these guys played? we need to clean house anyway, no matter how good some of them play the rest of the way, other than the young guys and a select few there fate is already sealed. might as well do it with high picks.

I would love to see him last to the 10th pick. That way the Dolphins might have a chance to get him. If he isn't the first CB taken, he should be. I think he is the best pure CB in the entire draft.

i think his florida state rival ramsey will go first but hargreaves will go second but there will probably be a run on QBs and OTs so he may be available for us. I would take him with our first if he's available. If not I want OLB Jaylon Smith from Notre Dame

Thinking of a better draft pick is a losers mentality, we only have 16 games a year, since we can't make the playoffs I want as many wins to sustain me through the long offseason.
And a higher pick doesn't guarantee success.

there is a way to tank without telling your players to play bad, cause thats what doesnt happen.. proper tanking comes from the front office down to the coaching staff, play young players is the order, vets had their chance and they failed is the message...bunch of young players are not likley to win, remaining vets arent likley to be 100 percent focused...

    I believe in proper tanking.

He has Ramsey as the first CB taken in the draft. Personally I see Ramsey as more a safety in the NFL, but I wouldn't be upset with him or Hargreaves as the Dolphins first round pick.

no it isnt, its about looking at the games from a gm perspective with eyes on the future..

vets had their chance..not aout that anymore, its about evaluating players.

I have seen Smith ranked highly by some draft experts. I just can't stand Notre Dame, so I never watch any of their games. I just wait for the scores and hope they lost. So my knowledge of Smith, other than what I have read is basically zero.

If Smith ends up being drafted by the Dolphins and comes in and makes an impact at LB, I'll think about forgiving him for attending ND.

Fair enough, I agree with giving the younger guys a chance, because... Well why the hell not?!
I just don't like the 'just lose' thinking for the draft - not that you said that

A screen to Williams? Really? How about maybe using Ajayi in that role, since... you know, he excells at that.
