I dont know about you guys, but I think that Parcells coming in as the Boss of the team is not going to be good for us. He is such a hands on guy, who unlike most of the succesful VP's comes from a head coaching background and it will be very hard for him not to get involved in the day to day activities of the team. I dont see any quality HC coming in and have to play with Parcells questioning every call he makes, that must be a very unpleasent enviroment to work under. We will most likely (if he fires Cameron) get a coach that follows his orders, basically an Assitant and Parcells will be the HC, I just cant see Parcells letting a Coach run the team, especially if things are not great, which will be quite probable.
    Opinions?????

I understand your concerns, but I disagree. Parcells will put his guys in place, but I have no problem with that because his guys usually win. Tuna brings in players that are high character guys, and he also has a great history of rebuilding teams and rebuilding them quickly.

i hope he doesnt bring in bunch of old vets that are only good for a couple years. I want to see more young talent injected and him turn it around with them so we have the young talent for the future.

I guess you didn't understand my concerns, I have no doubt that Parcells has a good eye for talent and in his abilities to lead, my concern is that he is a guy with a short fuse and he WILL undermine whatever HC is in place if he doesn't like something, also he has a very short fuse and the HC will be on a very short leash. I dont see a quality HC coming in (assuming they fire Cam) and taking this job.

That's why he hires his guys. If soemone comes here and doesn't want to be held accountable then we don't want them here. I don't think Parcells is going to bad as you think.

The more I think about this whole thing I think I have found two vets he will bring in for you.

    First.

    Terry Glenn

    Second

    Chad Pennington. (His new Vinny)

Chad Pennington is what I'm afraid of. We either need to keep Beck or use the pick to get a new qb. Chads too hurt, too sucky, etc. I'd rather Lossman over Chad

I think Pennington is a decent option if he comes cheap. Espescially if we keep Cam. Cam always says that accuracy is the most important attribute a QB can possess and they don't come much more accurate that Pennington.

His injuries are certainly a concern, but I don't think he sucks. The Jets have always been better with him than without him and he is still on the money with his throws now. He played pretty well against NE two weeks ago as well.

I too am concerned, as BP has a pretty good ego on him. Many of his former players don't much care for him, or the way he motivates them and I see no difference in this job. He was brought in to put his stamp on things and thats just what he'll do.... to whoever he sees fit. After all, he's adding to his legacy... although if it makes a winner again.....

As far as I’m concerned bringing in Parcels is an experiment. I don’t like it. I think Mueller will do a great job in scouting players, Cam will be an excellent head coach, Beck will be a great quarterback and the Dolphins will quickly turn this thing around and didn’t need to spend millions on Bill Parcels to make all of that happen. He’s going to take credit when this does turn around, and it will be an illusion. We had nowhere to go but up from here. Bill Parcells- over rated.

I agree 100%. I never have understood why so many people want to ride the jock of such an arrogant quitter. But, that's just my opinion and nothing anyone says or does will ever change it. I can't stand the thought that that SOB is associated with my Dolphins, it's enough to make a man sick!

The question you have to ask yourself did he make those teams better. BTW that Cowboy team who is the 1st seed is a team he built. I think he just like to build teams up. If that's the case in Hogs Heaven in Miami! He is arrogant but he also knows what he's doing. As far as him being overrated that's just silly. You'll like him a whole lot more win we have more W's than L's. I suspect you may even love him!

So he comes in, improves the team, leaves and we end up in the playoffs?

    Sign me up.

He may not stick around very long according to history, but who cares? He may be one of those guys that likes the challenge of making chicken salad from chicken ****, then move on. As long as he leaves the house in a better state then he finds it...cool.

your thread has inspired me to say this, and you may repeat after me if so desired......Whatever bill wants is okay by me"

I know this is a forum to disagree but i'am so thankful to have this man running our team, i truly hope all of us understand how lucky we are to have bill parcells as our LEADER.

Vicious, don't take this personally because i think your thread has some merit, but if anyone wants to come to this site and ever start bashing or being negative about bill parcells, iam gonna go off on them.

This hire by Mr. H stopped the negative football rythym that we were spiraling down into, the whole town and team was going down right in front of our eyes, and now we have one of the most repected and revered minds of our time leading us.

I'am going to do my part as a fan to keep us in the good positive karma side and trust that BILL PARCELLS KNOWS MORE THEN ME ABOUT FOOTBALL, i will debate and may even disagree { for ####s and giggles} but i will be cognisant of my words whn it comes to this team.

our team and franchise got the turnaround we needed, now its time for the fans to do their part, please, i emplore everyone to be positive, what other choice do we have, BILL PARCELLS IS IN CHARGE.

and if some of you are thinking i'am kissin his *** to much, well, YOUR DAMN RIGHT I AM

I haven't felt sooo good about an upcoming season since we hired SA%AN (didn't want to spell his name) in 2005. I'm usually pesamistic , but I remember sitting at home with such a great feeling like I was a child that received a new toy.

These last few days after Parcells got hired I felt that same way again. I'm so fired up about the upcoming season that I can't describe it ! I trust Parcells because of his reputation for turning teams around, you just look at his history and marvel what he has done.

Where else can we go but up, and yes Parcells will get credit for that.

However he does build winning franchises, and we are his next assignment. Hopefully he can uncover more FA signings like Tony Romo.

Interesting that 2 of the best QB's in the league right now were not thought of very highly when it was time for the draft : (a) Tom Brady a 6th round pick & (b) Tony Romo an undrafted FA.

That shows you just have to do your homework, and get lucky too.

This may sound strange, but a team needs some arrogance in order to be good.

Wall flowers need not apply, Parcells is Don King Bombastic, he launches verbal rockets all the time, some are funny, others are not funny at all, but that is his style.

I don’t agree with the whole town being dragged down and all that. This season was a fluke. The cutting of the dead wood here and getting cap friendly and correcting the years of poor drafting combined in this perfect storm this year. It almost had to happen to get where we all want to be. So it’s over now, we can get on with our rebuilding. There is a lot to be optimistic about, especially getting this season behind us. I see a lot of potential in our team, with the cap, the first pick in the draft, the talent we will have coming off injury, the new coach, etc. If Parcells builds a championship here, I will love it and love him too. I just will probably always believe it would have happened anyway. It would have taken a season two or three with or without Parcells. As painful as this season was, Cam and company were well on the right path right from the start. And yes, I am a die hard fan of course.

Many of his former players do like him too. Otis Anderson, who lives in West Palm Beach, said he was going to give Bill a call and see if there was anything he could do to help him, after being told of Parcells' new job.

He was perhaps harder on Jim Burt than anyone he ever coached. Especially in practice. Parcells often made him raise a 50 lb. dumbbell repeatedly off the ground in practice to simulate raising his arm powerfully out of his stance at the snap of the ball. Burt got even with Parcells after a win in 1985 by dousing him with a cooler of Gatorade. This has since become a tradition in football as you know, and Burt was who got it started
Burt battled back problems with the New York Giants which ultimately caused Parcells to announce his retirement in 1988. Burt however disagreed and signed with the 49ers where he played until his career ended in 1991. During the 2006 season Burt travelled to Dallas to give moral support to Parcells when he was head coach of the Cowboys. Burt also delivered a pre-game speech and stood on the sidelines exulting Dallas' defensive players. Does that sound like anyone who doesn't like his former coach?
He rode Terry Glenn hard as a young player with the Pats, but Glenn sure didn't mind playing again for him in Dallas.
Alot of his players followed him from team to team. guys like Richie Anderson. Former players have coached for him, guys like Maurice Carthon. I'd say way more former players like him and respect him than don't.

his old players may not love him at the time he's riding their butts but you can be rest assured they respect him because they know deep down in their hearts that he's getting them to play at their optimunm level.

I don't want Pennington because I'm tired of having a different starting QB EVERY YEAR! No point in bringing in a new stopgap when we can keep the one we have in Cleo.

Lossman? Are you kidding me I hope we don't get that guy. I live in upstate New York and I have seen this guy play enough. No more awful QB's from other teams. I say we keep Beck and clean house with Green and Lemon. Bring in another veteran to challenge Beck before the season starts next year.

I personally would love nothing more than to see Parcells get the
coaching bug and take over the coaching duties. I can only imagine
what it would mean to have him on the fields during training camp
jerking knots where they need to be jerked.
Actually the more hands on the better as far as I am concerned.
Tuna has turned around 4 teams now and there isn't anyone
else you can say about. The resume speaks for itself and I really
think if Tuna can not get things turned around here we are
    in serious trouble.

I am not delusional enough to think everything he does will
be right but I am betting we will be a whole new team next
    year with a different attitude.

And no to Pennington. My God, have we have enough QB's here
    that have sucked?

Saw this in another forum and thought I'd share:

Parcells success in turning around teams

    New York Giants
    Before Parcells: 4-5 in strike-shortened 1982*
After Parcells: 13-3 in 1986; Super Bowl champ

    New York Jets
    Before Parcells: 1-15 in 1996
After Parcells: 12-4 in 1998; played in AFC Championship Game

    New England Patriots
    Before Parcells: 2-14 in 1992
After Parcells: 11-5 in 1996; played in Super Bowl

    Dallas Cowboys
    Before Parcells: 5-11 in 2002
After Parcells: 10-6 in 2003; played in NFC wild-card game

Present day, those same Cowboys are 12-2 and likely headed for the superbowl

Parcells is retired. He is not going to coach. I believe he was hired to sell tickets to fans who are undecided that we are heading in the right direction. Strictly a PR move by the mighty Wayne. He was at the games and saw all those empty seats. If Parcels does absolutely nothing, Cam and company continue with their plan, we get better, big Tuna basks in another glorious turn around, and Wayne sells tickets. Everybody’s happy.

  32. I am in full support of hiring BP. I think after they did thier internal evaluation they figured out that Wayne was the biggest problem on this team. Not that he dosnt want to win he just dosnt posess the right skills to get it done. Hence why the thought of selling the team was out there and then a light bulb went off "lets hire BP". Parcels was hired to take WH's place, not as the owner, but as the final say. Is he going to meddle with the coaches and GM's, of course he is. That is part of his job. I dont think he will micromanage the team to the point Jerry Jones or Art Shell does but he will be involved in the teams decisions. He is not intrested in running practices or making game day decissions. He is intrested in the big picture and he will find personel that share his vision of the big picture and he wiull guide them when they lose sight of his picture. Like him or not he has proven time and time again that he can propperly identify what a winning formula is and he is here to ensure that the Dolphins are using one. That is why he was hired.

Chad Pennington: Im not a big fan of but the kid is a proven winner when healthy. I think wheather or not he is signed here as being a positive or a negative greatly depends on what price he is brought in for. If we sign him for the leauge minium I see no harm in having him here as our stop gap guy while we either develope Beck or find someone to develope. There is no indication that Im aware of that BP has any intrests in bringing him here but if he does so be it.

Personally I think both Cam and Randy are gone as soon as he lands the guys he wants similiar to the way the Culpepper situation was handled is how thier thier releases will bne handled minus the injury complication of course.

I love the fact that we went out and hired BB's coaching mentor. There is lots of bad blood between them two that really gets underplayed in the media and I think we can look forward to kicking the pats asses alot in the upcoming seasons. That is what will drive Parcels more then anything, the need to show the world who is king. We will be the benefactors of this competiviness. You better believe if all other things were equal in his choice between us and Atlanta that fact would of brought him to us. He is after BB.

The myth that Parcels is a quitter is redicilous as well. It's his way or the highway is more accurate and if he sees a fight he cant win because his bosses wont let him he walks away and tells them to fight thier own battles. I dont view that as quitting. I see it more as survivalism. Wayne wont interfere with him and he will be here until his age catches up to him.

Parcels is the best pick up we have made since Wayne has had the team.
