I think you guys should get over Cowher and Gruden. I find it hard to believe they'd come back, they've both been out so long too.

He absolutely was...that PA rollout had Olsen wide open for an easy TD. Was a thing of beauty.

I'm all in on Mike Shula. Not only because his level of coaching has earned himself a promotion and the obvious Last Name Cache that he brings to Florida, but because he's most likely the best candidate that would have a genuine interest in coming here to be the Dolphins Head Coach. This has to be his dream job, has to be. Maybe he is turned off by the 'following in his dads footsteps' thing but I doubt it. He has ties here, we wouldn't be his 2nd or 3rd choice, he wouldn't be using us to get a better deal elsewhere, I think we could get him and I think this is where he would want to coach.

That and he has done wonders with Cam and that Offense. The progression with Cam has been spectacular the last few years, he's always been an obvious talent but he is really playing the position at a level very rarely seen in the history of the league.

I honestly wouldn't mind pulling a trade for Payton if it helps us long term. I just hope that Ross doesn't hire some greenhorn coordinator like Philbin again. Ross has got to get this hire right or it will be another 3-4 years of this. The front office is so screwed up and it is a tangled web of who reports to whom and there needs to be a competent and simple chain of command. I would like to see Tannenbaum and company gone and we bring in another cast that can hopefully get better results.

ok, if im ross, at this point I dont know if I can trust anyone, I think he needs to maybe conduct his own search and get an understanding of who is actually interested in the job, for example, if he goes to meyer or malzahn, or cowher, and one of them say yes, id like to be the coach, then you fire everyone and let them control the franchise..

Let me throw in the wildcard.
    Mike Holmgren - Czar
    Tom Heckert Jr - Gm
    Pat Shurmur - HC

Look at the records of developing you players into legit probowl talent.

The only way Shula would be a good hire is if he bought Newton and Kuechly with him from Carolina.

Tannehill isn't close to Newton as a player and if Shula is stuck with Tannehill as the starting QB, he will be gone as the HC in three years.

Holmgren was the Czar in Cleveland and he was pretty awful. Just like with Parcells, Holmgren was a better HC than he was a front office whiz.

As for Heckert Jr and Shurmur. Hopefully Ross can do better than this duo, but based on his track record, I doubt it.

As opposed to a lesser candidate that would be stuck with Tannehill as you put it? Cam is great but Cam has obviously been coached and developed as well, he is MUCH better now than when he came into the league. Shula doesn't have anything to do with the defense so I don't know what the point about Kuechly is. The Panthers defense is stacked with talent at every level so it isn't just Kuechly either.

If he can get Payton for a mid to late round draft pick, I might agree. Anything more than one third round pick for Payton and I will be upset.

I think the Saints are probably ready to move on from Payton and he can be had for from less than has been reported IMO.

    I don't understand wanting Payton.

He clearly benefitted from a peaking Brees and stacked team. Most coaches can coach that combo to success.

I would want Kuechly only because he is the player I wanted in the first round in 2012, instead of Tannehill . Also the Dophins need a dominant MLB in the worst way and he is the best at his position in the entire league right now.
i really don't know how much of the success in Carolina is because of Shula. I just think Newton is now one of the elite QB's in the NFL and his play makes Shula look good. I don't care who the next head coach of the Dolphins is. I really don't see Tannehill with the Dolphins after next year. He is what he is. A very mediocre QB who will never be more than he is at this time.

I guess they they can do worse than Mike Shula. I'm just not a big fan of him being the next HC of the Dolphins.

If that were to happen, I could live with Tannebaum for another year. Hopefully Tannebuam would also hire a GM who could start to draft players who could fill the many real needs on this team.

My problem with Tannebaum is he spent a lot of the cap money in the off season and he didn't fill the positions which really needed upgrades. This is the worst team in the entire time Ross has been the owner and Tannebaum was hired to upgrade the team, not to make it worse.

As I stated earlier. I expect Ross to keep Tannebaum, but Ross should make it clear to Tannebaum that he needs to turn things around quickly or he will get the boot next year.

How would that work? I don't really think we can just cut Tannehill or just sign Brees to a big contract, we can't have both guys making over 20 million. I love Brees so I'm not dumping on the idea just asking how you could actually make it work.

you would need a good personnel man of course..

we dont know the dynamics of that front office and the impact its having on that team..

think of it like this, remember what those idiots did to harbaugh and kaepernik last year, stripped the coach of his power and dignity and made the qb play a different system.

I might consider Bevell from Seattle. I want a coach that has studied under different coaches and is able to adjust to his personnell and not come in with a system that he's going to try to make everyone fit into. the guy was a former QB at Wisconsin under alvarez i think and coached at Green Bay with brett favre. He was an offensive coordinator with the Vikings when they went to the championship game and obviously has had success in seattle. What I like with the guy is he's a great Xs and Os coach plus he can adapt. When he came to Seattle he had never called plays for a zone blocking scheme but with seattle having tom cable as their oline coach he had to. if you look at their game plans he has an uncanny ability to draw up plays that leave wide receivers wide open for big chunk plays. I think thats what we need here and what the fans would respond too. a play action run team that goes for the big plays. the most important thing is i believe he can adapt his coaching to suit his players strengths and in the end that is what i am looking for now. I am done with wanting system coaches. i dont want anyone under 40 who hasnt been with a few teams to learn different systems

There's no way we can take Brees contract hit next season...he'd have to restructure.

Totally not opposed to the idea to be honest...but look at the absolute pounding Tannehill takes. Brees shoulder would never last taking those hita

He did what every coach who coached Dan Marino, Dan Fouts, Jim Kelly and Frank Tarkenton couldn't do. Great players benefit from great coaches and vice versa. Winning a championship isn't an easy thing, even with a HoF QB or a good team.
