Am I the only one who thinks we should not re-sign Lamar Miller

Discussion in 'Miami Dolphins Forum' started by Newmpiece, Dec 23, 2015.

  1. Unless he demands obscene amounts of money it would be another in a long line of mistakingly allowing talented players leave. He has proved his worth. They need to find a staff who can put him a position to succeed. Letting him go just creates another need.

It obviously depends on the price tag. If it is reasonable, there is no reason to let him go and have to use a draft pick to replace him.

Interesting question is WHEN to resign Miller. Offer him decent money now? Or wait until we have our new coach?

Miller will probably have an interest in seeing who the new coach will be before he re-signs, and the new coach will probably want to have some input before a chunk of cap is shelled out on a player he might or might not highly prioritize.

I'd agree last year but this year he's show more power and strength and his vision has notched up.

At this point, I'd give Lamar Miller a raise for having to run behind this line.

Anyone that has watched Miller since his UM days knows what kind of runner he is... Someone who excels with running lanes as a minimal cut burner. When there are no holes, he is not getting anything, and he will not break many tackles. He is an elite athlete playing RB. It would have made more sense to extend him, but at this point, it may be hard to match whatever open market offer he gets. I hope we can keep him but he's not worth elite money, that's just reality. Hopefully something around 5 mill gets it done, but it makes u sad seeing people like Dion Lewis getting 1.5 in NE.

What do you need to see to consider him elite or in the discussion?

He's grown a lot since the UM days.

As a pass catcher and blocker he has grown tremendously, but he is still nowhere near someone like Gore in being instinctive as a runner and finding holes where there are none. Combine things like that with Miller's athleticism and you have elite, but he is just below that tier imo. Nothing to sneeze at, I would love to keep him, just being honest.

Miller will test the market and get overpaid and leave.

Running backs like Lamar are a dime a dozen. Spin it how you want but Ajayi is a better back to move forward here.
    Sorry player fans.
