4 catches, 93 yards...Kid is proving to be worth the wait. That's 17 catches for 339 yards and two TD's the last five games.
I'm kind of glad Matthews has been hurt, his asking price is falling by the week, there's an outside chance he's still a Dolphin next year. But he seems like a guy who'd take less $$$ to be a primary target.
^This. I think his route running can improve considerably, and he doesn't look to always have the best balance out there. He has some developing to do for sure. Let's see if he can. Always developing players. Never really hit on these guys. It's a damn shame.
he needs a good coach to come in and help clean up some of his weaknesses but the guy has crazy talent.
Two drops, hasn't run his routes well, lets the DB dictate. The physical tools are off the charts, but he has work to do this spring.
Another "X" on this coaching staff leaving him on the sidelines healthy for a lot of games. Ridiculous.
Well, the extent of his injury was unknown to us. I think there were some reports of sorenes during practices, and with his being a rookie and Matthews playing well, it was unnecessary to put him out there too early. I don't disagree with staffs when it comes to things like that because almost all of the time, the teams want to win and if he earned it, he would've been out there. Having a rookie wideout start is not outside of the ordinary these days. Seeing the product on the field, I can see why he was sitting. He's far from finished. There are some things he needs to work on, and I hope he does something about it this off-season. Landry, for example, is a MUCH more polished player now than he was last year. His off-season program has paid off in spades.
IMO this offseason Parker should get in touch with Clayton, OJ, etc and learn as much as he can about the position from them. He tightens up his fundamentals then the sky's the limit for him.
Parker is as advertised. He caught an underthrown ball between two defenders for fifty today. He'll be better than Chambers, the AJ Green comparison looks legit. Outside of TE, the skill positions on offense are set in stone. Just fix the O-line...
Miller absolutely needs to be the offseason #1 priority. Tannehill, Miller, Parker, Landry, Stills is a really solid offensive core. Allows us to not have to look outside for help at the skill positions and focus on the OL and defense this year. As for Parker, I agree that he needs to tighten things up, but he's looking as great as I'd hoped when he was my choice to be our first rounder last offseason. We can only hope that the next coaching staff trains and uses him properly.
Nah man. Moss was a notoriously poor route runner. He ran slants & take-offs and ran past everyone(no doubt, that's all he needed). But you can't teach speed. Parker needs to improve his footwork.
Yeah, I think that Moss would be a terrible coach or mentor. He coasted on raw physical ability for much of his career, and is just not a good human being.
Raw physical ability and pure WANT TO. Which is what he's talking about. Attacking footballs. High pointing them. When to and how to be aggressive. Those were all things Moss was incredible at outside his physical tools. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Moss was a great WR when he wanted to be. When he didnt want to be he didnt give a damn and gave very little effort. With Miko running her mouth i hardly think asking Randy Moss to be anywhere near this team is a smart move....
Looking forward to this debate all offseason. IMO OV is the #1 priority. I love Miller, and if he's willing to sign to a team friendly deal, I'm all for it. But assuming these 2 players price themselves at market value, DE is a much bigger need for us imo. I could definitely see us using the tag on OV, and if this happens resigning Miller may be unfeasible. Just think about the impact of losing OV would be compared to losing Miller. Sure Miller is a special talent, but the reality is HB is one of, if not the most easily replaceable position in the modern NFL. We also have a good #2 back in Ajayai. If we lose OV though, Our entire defensive line takes a major hit in talent and youth that would be much more difficult and expensive to replace than Miller would be to the HB position. They're both studs imo, but DE>HB in today's game so OV>Miller, basically as simple as that to me.
If we let OV walk, we better sign a free agent DE. At the very least we would need to resign Shelby, but I still wouldn't feel comfortable with just Wake and Shelby in the mix for 2016, that is of course, if Wake doesn't get cut. Fede, Moore, McCain aren't NFL caliber D ends, we need to resign Shelby and at least 1 other D end BEFORE the draft. And that's assuming Wake comes back which he may not, the defensive end position is a critical need for this team with Wake's age, and OV and Shelby's impending free agency.
He has made Rishard Matthews expendable. Use the money to try and re-sign Lamar Miller, assuming he wants to come back to Miami after the gross misuse of him.
I'm with you. OV is absolute number 1 priority. RBs are a dime a dozen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No I'm not. It's a different game. Running backs are much easier to come by because of the focus on the passing game and the talent at that position. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have to admit, I was in the same position as you regarding backs, but I do see a marked difference between Miller and say, even Ajayi. And this was with a so-so O-line run game. Imagine if the line was a actually consistently solid during runs? I think with a good back, the QB benefits. And, at least for now, Miami is highly invested in Tannehill because we eat his "****" like a mother bird feeds its chicks. Or something like that... I've become a fan of Miller, but I see your point, and both are important. Hope they both stay.
If Philbin wasn't an idiot we would have known how good Rishard was, wouldn't need Devante and could have taken Marcus peters ...
Parker really needs to improve his route running. It's very sloppy and he gives away his next move too easily. The talent is obviously there, but he has work to do. Being injured for much of the year certainly held him back, so I expect him to be improved for next year. The other thing he needs to do is be more aggressive. I see some softness in him. He needs to learn to fight more. With his size he'd be nearly unstoppable if he develops an alpha mentality.
I thought that was kind of his thing in college? Kind of going up aggressively for the ball? I mean, he's not the fastest guy out there, but has a large catch radius. I wonder if he's being coached (at the moment) or is playing cautiously because of that foot? You did see a couple of slants thrown in there, so you have that. I think that is an important route for wideouts to get under their belts. Let's see if they have him run other routes this last game.
I think it's the foot. He sometimes looks unsure of himself. He's admitted to a lack of confidence over it. It's a hurdle he'll have to get over, but I think he will.
Either way, Parker has made at least one really impressive catch in every game that he's been in, hasn't he? That's just getting by on physical ability really too, since he missed all of camp, most of the preseason, and more than half the regular season. I think that if he goes through the whole offseason healthy, then next September he's going to be really, really good.
forget parker studying with Moss. Parker already has the perfect mentor. Join Landry and OBJ this offseason for all their workouts.
