When I used to discuss the pile of fecal matter that is Jeff Ireland with some of you, I'd often state that Jeff Ireland's boobery would haunt this franchise for years. Sorry to have been right.

warning, meme with a cuss word.

We're cursed because we've had two owners back to back who don't know how to hire football people. Huizenga was bad enough at it, but Ross is something else. Joe Robbie was cheap but at least he hired Don Shula and let him run the team. The leadership under Ross has been a clown show.

Ireland had a great game today. Langford with 2 sacks and Davis with a critical red zone INT.

As much as some people on this site hate Ireland, he has a lot of good players on his resume.

I could never understand why it was so easy to pull the team to the next level in Madden 13... now I do. I kept Dansby and Burnett for a year or two then traded them. Another year or two later traded Wake and Bush and made another killing. Signed a couple of good-fitting OL and a WR... there ya go. Playoff bound.

I didn't know they just cut both Dansby and Burnett... only to bring in Ellerbe and Wheeler. Jeez.

2013 was the demise year. It was the only year Ireland busted on a first round choice and the free agency was a complete disaster botth signing and waiving

It's not just this site, trust me finheaven is a lot worse on this subject matter. Ireland wasn't a likable guy and he made a lot of mistakes so I sorta get why so many people hate him. But you and I both seem to get he did a lot of good things as well (Reshad Jones in the 5th) that many folks don't like to give him credit for. Can't wait till Lamar (4th round) and OV (3rd round) get paid out the a** like Clay (6th round) just did. If he was half as bad as most of our fans believe, he wouldn't be the assistant GM in New Orleans working with a championship organization. They're a lot smarter than our fans lol.

So he's an assistant GM on one of the few teams performing worse than the Miami Dolphins this season, and you use this as an argument that Ireland wasn't that bad?

Yea because Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton don't know how to run a NFL organization. O.K, sure, they won a Superbowl but whateves. If Ireland was so bad with us, why would they let him be their director of college scouting and assistant GM?

Maybe he forgot the 'past' part of championship organization. They are stinking it up too right now.

Yea but if Ireland really was this terrible GM as so many of our fans believe, why would a once successful front office hire him to essentially be in charge of college scouting? Anyone ever consider maybe Mickey Loomis has a slightly higher football IQ than them? He's one of the few GM's to have a Superbowl ring, he knows what he's doing more than any of y'all think you know about this sport. He's an accomplished professional, not an internet blogger like us lol. Personally I'd take Ireland back over Tannenbum in a heart beat. For Christs sake Hickey did a good job in his first draft and now he's got one foot out the door, year 2. The owner is the real problem with this team, not the 2013 draft class.

Being a terrible GM doesn't mean you're a terrible college scout. I think most of us agree he's a good college scout, but as a GM he wasn't very good.

Jordan might have been the only real bust but hitting on solid players in the first round while bypassing elite talent didn't mean he was successful either.

Still would take him and his eye for talent over Tannenbum. Finding a good GM isn't easy, especially with this clown of an owner. it's not a coincidence that a team like Cincy is having a good year and they highly value consistency. For all the crap Ireland's got I'm sure a ton of Cincy fans wanted to run Lewis out of town years ago, but their owner is smarter than ours so they are now in the position they are in, because of consistency.

John Schneider fired Ireland after one month, and Schneider has a ring, been to more Superbowls and divisional championships than Loomis, so he knows best of all by your logic and he couldn't even keep Ireland employed past a single draft night.

Just shows he knew Ireland had an eye for talent, that's why he brought him in. There's a lot of reasons why that might not have worked out, but I didn't see Tannenbum getting hired for draft advise right before any drafts. We're in a worse position today in our front office than we were with Ireland in charge, and no one even wants to address the fact he has fired for pretty much loosing his temper after another failed Failbin season, and trying to get that loser out of here. He wasn't fired for the 2013 draft class which imo would have been a fair reason to fire him, he totally f***** that year up. He was fired because he recognized the failure of a hire Failbin was, unfortunately his boss was the one who wanted queasy in the first place so obviously it wasn't wise to speak the truth. According to reports bean counter Don Aponte was appalled lol.

Heck... we are all scouts (and internet bloggers) just he was getting paid for it. I thought it was a pity hire at the time.
