I figured Matthews would know a lot about Tex. LA teams sure made some nice moves recently. Got Tex on one of my fantasy rosters so hopefully he'll continue producing.

I actually pitched against Kotchman in High School when he was playing for Team USA. He took me off the wall in left center about 380' away. Not bad for a 16 yr old. Ever since then Ive been rooting against him, now he plays for my favorite team

Cool story. Now if he succeeds with the Braves you can say I pitched to Kotchman and now here he is helping my team win the division. Maybe it was the confidence he got off facing you that made him the player he is today lol :wink2:

I use to say that watching Al Leiter....he crushed my hopes and my H.S. State Championship teammates hopes 2 years in a row. Took us out in the semi's Jr. & Sr. years....last game, 2 K's against him, 1 BB - picked off (LOL)!!!

3 three run homers...The Los Angels Bombers(of Anaheim)...:D Boys our Halos are ROOOLLLIN'. I thought it was a bit strange(he had a 6 run lead at the time) when Garland, who's known for taking his time between pitches, got "warned" about it.Also it was nice to see Chone get his bat going again with 4 hits tonight.Oh and Torii Hunter is still on fire!

I hope the team can remember what they're doing now and repeat it come October. If the offense is rolling anywhere close to this level come playoff time I like our chances a lot.

You just hit on my biggest fear. This year I actually thought it was a small blessing that Lackey missed the first six weeks of the season.I'm hoping it will leave him stronger for the post season.

I certainly hope there's a lot of home runs. Don't get too many of those in Dodger Stadium. :knucks:

Last nights game has only made my opinion on K-Rod stronger. This might upset some of my fellow Halo brothers here, but I'm really looking forward to seeing him leave via FA after this year.I know he's leading the league in saves and barring injury should set the all-time saves record this season(breaking Thighpens(sp) record).Blowing a 4 run lead in the 9th is unforgivable, not to mention costing Saunders what would've been his league tying 15th win of the season. He's overated(imo),if we don't sign him it will free up money to possibly sign Mark after the season or another FA player next season. IMHO he "peaked" as a rookie in 2002 when we won it all.I've yet to see his curveball "breakoff" like it did back in 2002.
    sorry for the rant:D

    No kidding:no::angry:

I was actually there (up in the upper deck in right field), and I could not believe the defensive breakdown. Also I was unaware that Tori Hunter was not at the ballpark.

I like Frankie quite a bit, but he isnt nearly as automatic as one would hope. He gets himself into a lot of trouble. To give him credit he's managed to get himself out of it most of the time, but it's still a lot more stressful than it should be. If he wants a 5 year deal for 15 per I'd let him walk, and I wouldnt be too upset about it.

Good article in the LAT today about the game and Vlad.

    http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-angels7-2008aug07,0,6754637.story

And it looks like Hunter is going to try and sell Teixeira on staying in Anaheim, hopefully it works.

I dont think anyone will offer him the contract that's being thrown around in the press. Assuming no one is going to give him what he wants, I think Moreno can be at least competitve with any other offer. Assuming the Sox/Yankees dont just open up the flood gates for him.

I don't think the Red Sox will offer anything to Teixeira. I think it will be between the Yankees, Mets, Angels, Dodgers and Orioles.

That list makes sense, and I like the Angels chances. Orioles have the homefield advantage, but they suck. Yankees have the cash, which worries me because that seems important to Teix. Just dont let him end up with the Dodgers lol.

I kind of hope he stays with the Angels. I think he's the perfect fit for that line up, a power switch hitting bat to help out Vlad and plays good defense. Just hope he stays out of the Bronx.

Some very good news from the minors. If he can develop some plate discipline he might be able to turn into a good player for us. Kind of hard to be patient when you see guys like Longoria and Braun come up and immediately be great, but hopefully our patience will pay off with this guy.

Was good to see the meat of the lineup coming up huge last night. It's also nice to be able to talk about a lineup with some meat in it... Will be nice if we can get Figgins going like last year now.

Some team in the AL East should try to steal Kendrick from us, this guy completely owns the Yankees. .514 career average against them? Lol.

Awesome 8th inning. Only thing that would've been icing on the cake would've been to snag a HR. Got an autograph from Teixeira and Garret Anderson though they are on a Guerrero shirt.

Oh yeah, forgot you were at the game today. Lucky sob, you got to see a good one. Few good innings of a pitchers battle, then the offense just unloading. Plus you asked for some HR's and got plenty of them lol. :hi5:

    Grats on the autographs, too.

Yea, definitely loved the HR's and the fireworks. :hi5: Though I thought left-field would get a bunch of em (Napoli's was a bit further in the corner). But it's a real change of pace from the 1-0, 2-1 games I see at Dodger Stadium. And Yankees fans leaving before it was over after spending half the game heckling everyone including little kids in the stadium. :pity:

I wished Vlad would've ran to our spot. Would've been nice to have his autograph on a shirt with his name on it. When I got back my mom was all "why do you have a shirt with other player's signatures".

On baseball tonight they just counted down the best players in Expos history with Vlad being ranked #1. Kirkjan (sp?) said when Vlad goes into the hall of fame he'll be wearing an Expos cap. I hope that isnt true. He won MVP with us, will have played about the same amount of time with each team and possibly more time with us when it's all said and done. Hopefully once he wins a World Series in Anaheim it'll be a no doubter that he goes in with an Angels cap on :)

Article in the LAT about the Angels and resigning Vlad. I cant imagine him playing for another team, hopefuly he isnt looking for too many years in his deal and they can work something out.

I was going to post and say there's no way Vlad goes in as an Expo but I checked his numbers with them and holy crap. Granted I knew he was very very good with them but his numbers were insane. With that being said if he goes in the HOF (I still think he needs to put up a few more good years he's on the fence right now) he'll probably be an Angel. Like you said Don, a few more good years in an Angel uniform (with either another MVP award or WS title) he'd be a lock to go in as an Angel. Plus the fact that the Expos are dead and I'm sure both him and the Angels will push very hard to get that A logo on his plaque.

It seems to me that he's happy in CA and he doesn't strike me as a guy that needs a big pay check. I think I heard/read a story that he lives with his mom out in CA and just spends time playing video games (which if true is awesome). With that being said I think if the Angels offer him a 3 or 4 year deal between 16-18 million a year he'd take it. The only thing I'd be worried about is that he's 33 years old right now but looks like he's 43 sometimes, so he's not going to be the same player he was. But the Angels play in the AL and they can keep him fresh as a DH and the Angels certainly have the money.

Exactly how I feel, and what kind of contract I thought the Angels should offer. I'd take the risk that the end of that deal ends up bad for the team. The fans love him and he still has a few good years left. Hopefully towards the end he can transition to a productive DH, but it's worth the risk.
