I totally agree with this. OV should be our top priority and it's not even close. Lamar is a very good player, but he's still a HB and it's about to be 2016. The position simply isn't as valuable as it used to be, would love to get a guy like Al Mo on the cheap if Lamar walks.

I try not to let my emotions tether me to any one player. After all, this is ThePhins.com, not Tannehill.com, no? First and foremost we should be caring about the state of the team and what's in its best interest. If a GM feels strongly enough about a top QB prospect's chances of upgrading the most important position on the field, then he'd be silly not to take advantage of it. It's not like doing so wastes Tannehill as if he's an expensive diamond ring you try to sell shortly after purchasing it. He's probably worth a 1st rounder to one of St Louis, Houston, or Philly [as they'll probably confidently believe they can steal him away from a dysfunctional organization that offered him little QB development under Philbin & Zac Taylor and then tap into his reserve potential]...... and financially the cost difference between Tannehill and a drafted QB is enough to upgrade multiple positions in free agency.

Our top priority should be using available cap space to bring in players capable of outperforming their contracts, not sentimentally overpaying average or slightly above average players just to keep them on the team like people wanted to do with Brian Hartline.

OV will likely not be giving Miami a hometown discount, so you have to view his future as this: "Of all the free agents or combination of free agents available at OV's cost, regardless of position, is OV the best option of the bunch? Does he do the most to maximize the contract?" Sorry but I don't think so, especially not when he'll likely demand a long term commitment, something he hasn't proven to be worth, b/c if you're not in the top 80% of your position then you're not worth a hefty long term commitment when short term fixes via FA and cheaper long term solutions via the draft are available.

This team is VERY, VERY solid. Yet, we lose. There's a reason for this, and it isn't just Coaching.

Back in the early preseason I posted on a few sites (D-R if this site was one of them) that MIAMI had THREE main problems/holes that had to be filled in order to become a legit "top shelf" team. TWO of them were LG and RG. I felt that as things stood regarding the G positions at that time, the drafting of Mr. DONALD
DUCK would be a major improvement. Then, almost by magic, a veteran G named MATHIS, from Philadelphia I think, became a F/A...and MIAMI had enough cap $$$ to afford ANYONE!!!

I was ELATED!!! I was thanking our Creator for the seemingly EARLY Christmas present, and drooling while I did so!!!

I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER!!! After all, we are talking about the f*#kin' stupid MIAMI DOLPHINS organization!!!

The only offer MIAMI made came VERY late in the game, and was more of a BAD JOKE than an offer, designed merely to yank the cocks of the Dolphins Fan base!!!

Bottom line? We get to watch our "90 Million Dollar Man" get the s#*t kicked out of him, week after week after week after week after week after week after week after week after week (get my meaning?), EVEN AGAINST the NFL's worst "D"s, and even when we win! And we don't win often enough to even be the lowest "seed" in the AFC!!!

Well, all I can hope for is that SUFFERING really IS good for the soul. That's all for now...except for this--I wonder if ROSS realizes just how much of his money these impostors/interlopers/baboons are wasteing?
