Mike Shanahan is hoping for one more ride in the NFL, and the Dolphins may give him the chance.

Shanahan will interview with the Dolphins for their head-coaching vacancy on Tuesday, Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reports.

You need to have a fallback candidate if your primary ones go elsewhere. I think that he'd be ok, but only a short term answer.

I'm not sure what to think about this one. I know he is a proven head coach but I think his better days are behind him. His last stint wasn't exactly a successful one either. How much of that is due to Snyder vs him is hard to tell.

Per BR, he is having a second interview with the dolphins. Sounds like more than a fallback candidate to me.

He made the most of RG3's talent until he got hurt.

i would be ok with him. proven no nonsense coach. only thing i worry is if he has been out of the game too long? reports are he loves THill, so maybe his gameplan would be taylored to his strength. we could do a lot worse

Not a fan. Hasn't done much since he lost Elway. He tends to build a strong run game, I suupose. But I'm not sure if I prefer him to Campbell, honestly.

I love head coaching candidate threads.

Half of the posters: "Sounds good to me!"

The other half: "Ugh. Please kill me."

I would be okay with him. He wanted Tannehill over RG3 in 2012. So, he's really willing to work with him and probably has a idea what to do with him.

I'd take a shot on him, he knows this is his last real shot at a positive post Elway legacy

Lamar Miller could thrive with Shanahan.

I would say he struggled with being forced to play RGIII. He wanted to go with Cousins and buckled to the owner. I think Gruden thought he was getting canned and proved that Cousins was a better NFL QB.

I like the idea of RT, Miller, Ajayi, Landry, and Parker in a Shanahan offense. Would really depend on the DC choice for me. Would also be interesting if he retained Campbell as Assistant HC, or brought in Shula as OC/***. HC. I would prefer others, but the Shanahan hire wouldn't be terrible.

uh, if you think shannahan would help miller you are bat **** crazy. given shannahans history he'd probably go with williams or attempt to create some stupid 3 headed RB group which never works. If the dolphins hire shannahan i'm out on this team.

Well, Albert Morris was "his" so resigning Miller, with out cap number would not be as much of a priority.

His systems certainly fit our roster esp on the offensive side of the ball, which to me makes him a rather interesting candidate

I dislike the ZBS, Shannie and Son do know it inside and out, which could help our OL woes

Shanahan has a history of churning out 1000yd backs with just about anybody he puts in the backfield. Ajayi seems to be more his type of RB, but miller would definitely see an improvement in # of attempts and total yardage.

I think that history has vindicated Mike Shanahan with respect to every player he's ever had a problem with.

I think he'd be a good hire but the question is, who would be his coordinators? That is really important right now.

Bingo. Leave his son out of it and hire a legit DC and I could see this being a very good decision.

This team does need some stability. It could use someone who does have a good amount of experience in the NFL. He does have a lot of experience being a HC and being a top part of a franchise and dealing with all of the nuances of being a HC. He could be very good for Tanne. He could also be good for the running game. I'm not saying that I'm for this move at this point, but I'm not completely against it either.

IF you really believe Tannehill is your guy then Shanahan may just be the guy. I still believe he destroyed RG3 which makes me question him.
