Would take Shanny, like Lovie's approach in Chicago, just believe Shanny's systems fit our roster better.

Still all three phases, do think he lost his edge in terms of Defensive mindset, which makes him something of a bad fit for our roster's entrenched players

Pretty shocking development. Thought with Winston he'd last a few more years.

It's not the worst year to be looking for a coach... I'm pretty excited considering what we've had in the past.

Shanahan might be the best fit...he wanted Tannehill, he's a no nonsense dictator and things that do poorly in Washington tend to do well in Miami (like Jason Taylor).

We should not hire Lovie. Tampa's getting a lot of crap for this move, but they made the right decision, imo. That team was horribly coached, especially on defense. They just have a franchise-type QB and a very very good OC.

I really doubt he'll get hired by another team...which would tell you all you need to know.

Lovie Smith and Jeff Fisher are the same coach. I have no interest in either.

PFT is reporting TB fired him by phone. Stay classy Bucs. Also, good luck getting a Rooney Rule candidate to interview with Koetter sitting in Lovie's office. Is Art Shell available? Interesting how Lovie's hand selected GM will now be leading the coaching search to replace him.

Miami gets a lot of flack for the dysfunction, and rightfully so, but they seem to be headed in the right direction. However, TB, Cleveland, and SF are all in a close race for the top spot of dysfunction.

Well, they say Winston likes the OC... but they did want Kelly before he went to the Eagles.

    Weird

I'm not sure Tannenbaum is the right guy to fix things, but at least there will be "one vision" for the first time since 2008. I'm more optimistic now than I've been for a long time with this team, but I understand why others will choose to be pessimistic instead.

I thought Lovie Smith did a really poor job in Tampa. His defense was bad and was getting worse, and he also made some game management blunders. Believe they were also one of the most penalized teams, as well.

Of course his Defense was getting worse, look at the drafts they had while they were there, they were all offense.

Jason Licht was a GM who was hired to serve at the pleasure of Lovie Smith, who had full control of every aspect of football operations, including personnel. I respect that you may disagree, but I think that Lovie Smith dug his own grave and has no one to blame for his firing but himself. He is a defensive guy who ran a lousy defense. When Nick Saban the GM brought in bad players for Nick Saban the coach, the blame still rested on Nick Saban.

There should be a coaching mega thread. And we need to find someone that is going to challenge Tannehill. He seems to respond well to that.

    Back in Miami
This was a knee jerk reaction by the Bucs.
As someone mentioned they are more of a mess than The Fins are.
    Dysfunctional franchise.

Guy gets 2 years to turn around a franchise that was left in disarray and one of the years he's dealing with grooming a rookie QB?
    Idiots.

He should have at least one more year and probably 2 before a real assessment could be made.
I mean my God they gave Raheem Morris 3 years and he was clearly in over his head from day 1.

It sure looks to me they are after Kelly on the sly. I mean... was Smith keeping the QB and the OC from each other? Why can't they still buddy up keeping him as HC? Team rebuild with a rookie mistake-prone QB and about 3 or 4 decent players on the D. Here Lovie... we give you 2 years. Dang. Must be terrible for a Defensive Coach to have his last 2 teams with little or no talent on the D. Poor dude.
