This deserves it's own thread probably. Alot of people need to read this. There's even better articles out there, but this is a guy who's 37 years old, and has been in football for 18 years, and in some sort of coaching role professionally/collegiately since 2000 working for some of the top coaches in the leauge who have wanted to bring him along all the time...

He may eventually fail, I mean the chances of a coach "failing" and getting fired are significantly greater than the chances of winning a super bowl afterall. However, he at least gives us a chance at building a solid system and offense, and if it all works out the way we'd want it to, he can provide the greatest assets of all. Success, and stability for the long haul.

EXACTLY MY POINT. maybe its time to realize the problem may lie with the QB himself. This FO is so determined that he's the answer, and will continue every effort to prove themselves right, it's just not going to happen.

    Actually that was MY point.
and @bold: No it's not. It's painfully obvious it's not, actually.

yeah because people are going to trash someone who landed his first HC gig.
And to be clear, I am not totally against this signing, I would've preferred Hue Jackson, just because this team needs a veteran of the league, but my bigger problem lies within the FO constantly trying to find ways to get Tannehill to be this superstar that he is not. And of course signing Gase is what they are continuing to do. They made that big statement just as the season ended that the new coach with have say on whats going on with the QB situation, and then hire a "QB whisperer" as someone stated here earlier. But what QB did Gase groom?
I hope it works out, because this team has the talent and potential, with a couple interchangeable guys (I.E Tannehill) but trying to rebuild the organization with a rookie HC isnt the way to do it.

Yeah, that's occurred to everyone, including everyone on this message board, including the Tannehill fans (and I am not one of them). But RT is the QB next year, like it or not. That being the case, why not hire somebody who (I) is a strong candidate (II) has a good reputation for working with QBs? If RT flops next year we'll be trying again with a new QB anyway, who will need a coach who's good with QBs.

    Let's see what happens.

It's a shame you haven't posted in a year, so we have been deprived of such genius.

    Darn it.

At least structure your sentence correctly if you're going to try to insult someone.

Anyways, I hope Gase works out, I really do. Hopefully the FO can see the other teams in the area trending in the right direction and will follow suit.
Someone always has to play the devil's advocate though, and with the history this team has, I as well as other have every right to do so.

For those of you moaning we didn't interview every possible candidate I advise that you go read what head hunters have to say about interviews. Between any 2 candidates it barely moves your chance of successful hire above 50%. A far better judge of a candidates future success is references and ratings by former colleagues and employers. There has been not a peep of whinging about this guy wherever he has been. He can learn on the job and i'm entirely comfortable giving him gus Bradley lengths of rope to work with. Improvements every season after his first and he can stay. I've no issue with 5 or 6 wins next season if we show that we know how to play football. The talent deficit is what we need to close.

why not google it for yourself and find out about the coach who will be in charge for the team you apparently cheer for...maybe next time show a little respect too for someone who is on this forum a little longer than DEC 15 and has provided some more than 40 posts....

Thats what makes this hire even worse. Sources say they primarily hired him to work with tannehill. You need a head coach not just some guy you think can help your quarterback. Get a good QB coach for that and an offensive coordinator. And revolving the hire around an average QB at that. He didn't make the Bears better this past season and the guy had Manning in Denver. Actually the Bears were a better offense the previous year. Maybe the Dophins finally got a guy that can pan out but again they make a questionable decision to hire a guy with little to no experience as a head coach.

I have very low expectations for next season - maybe even less than with the Sparano hiring. Therefore, they'll probably have a great season. LOL....

What they call vetting I call desperately seeking affirmation of their decisions. John Elway said nice things about him? Oh really? I expected he would say, "Nah, that guy's a bum, you don't wanna hire him."

Everybody loves Mike Tomlin and is super pissed we didn't hire him even though he knocked the interview out of the park. His resume was less than Gase's. So Gase comes in, knocks the interview out of the park and this time, gets the job, and everyone super pissed again.

I thought the Tomlin thing was a matter of his being too urban for the front offices liking, which is a valid reason for people to be upset.

Nah. Because you're speaking in generalities again. Was there some poll taken (besides in your head) where everyone indicated they wanted Tomlin?

Regardless it's still an empty shallow comparison, ironically coming from someone who DEMANDS more depth and for people to look behind numbers and performances.

Just like the Philbin 2.0 comparisons. Look I know you hate everything about the fins, that is ok. Just stop pretending that you are objective in the slightest, it is disingenuous.
