Shaq Lawson is a menace. Would you take him or Buckner if you had the choice? My choice probably would be if Stanley fell a bit.

So is his teammate DE Kevin Dodd, he just declared, really good player and edge rusher.

He probably did better than Lawson that last game. Not sold on Mack like that other mock... although our LBs are super weak atm.

PFF has Stanley going 25th to Steelers... maybe we can get him. Those defenders are likely hard to pass up tho.

Lawson was playing at maybe 60% health vs Bama.

Pisses me off, because I think that if Lawson and Alexander were healthy Clemson would have won.

Yeah... Alexander's loss seemed to mess up the entire secondary. I was keeping an extra-eye on the safety. He looks real skinny but does make alot of plays.

Clemson's QB ran circles around Bama's MLB. He might be a tackle machine... but he athletism might be a question IMO.

    Clemson roundup:

The usual suspects with Lawson & Mackensie in the 1st. Yes please on both.

Big defensive tackle DJ Reader [6'2 325] in Round 4 would be a nice NT option if we happen to switch to a 3-4.... but worth drafting regardless [Earl Mitchell's contract and all]. Strong character and good player with surprising athleticism for his size and room to get better. Was a pitcher on the baseball team with a 93 MPH fastball.

WR Charone Peake [6'2 215] - former 5-star recruit who was derailed by injury. Plays w/ impressive level of physicality. Great burst from 5-20 yards. Strong & tough to bring down. Was the fastest receiver on the team back when Sammy Watkins & Martavis Bryant were both there. Hard worker. Best days still ahead of him. I suspect he might creep up the boards a little from where the draft sites currently have him but he might present some value in Round 4.

G Eric Mac Lain [6'4 315] isn't an elite prospect but he's darn good and very consistent, incredibly hard working, a great teammate, and a great locker room presence. Kid was a real rock on that Clemson team. He might creep into the 4th-5th round.

SS Jayron Kearse is overrated. Clemson's D ranked #1 in tackles for a loss or no gain... but ranked 89th in runs of 20+, 90th in 30+, and 110th in 40+..... and ranked 79th in pass plays of 30+ and 109th in 40+. Tells me somebody on the back end isn't doing his job as the last line defender. He pulls a bit of slight of hand by wowing you from a physical standpoint hoping you won't notice his poor instincts, slow reaction time, and inability to break down in space. He's an idiot for not returning to polish up his game, especially after his horrendous Championship performance where he should've prevented Henry's long TD run, the kickoff return TD, and OJ Howard's long catch & run on the the little swing pass. He's shown inadequate development for someone who's been playing extensively since a freshman. Likely will need to play special teams in order to contribute early on, but he's not even dependable enough to do so at the college level. He's a borderline Practice Squadder, but b/c of his size and athletic intangibles he'll be overdrafted so I'd give him a 4th/5th round grade.... but I'd just as soon use that pick elsewhere.

FS T.J. Green [6'2 205]. See Kearse above... with the exception that Green displays slightly better instincts and is more capable of breaking down in space. #2 on team with 95 tkls, 33 more than SS Kearse which is not how you'd expect that dynamic to go. Green is only 20 and foolishly declared while he's still in the process of ascending and might've developed into a top 75 pick. He's fast, athletic, physical, and likes to attack, but makes wayyy too many mistakes. Has a tendency to go off script trying to make a big play rather than sticking to his assignment and it ends up costing his defense as many or more plays than he makes. Questionable in coverage w/ just 1 career INT and 3 PBUs. Sorely needed another year to allow the game to slow down and become more fundamentally sound. Could mature into a very good player but he's only a developmental guy at this point. However, he has a better chance of contributing on special teams than Kearse. Green has more of a strong safety mentality/makeup [and likely would've played there if Kearse weren't limited to that spot] and will likely end up playing at 6'2 215 once he's finished developing so he'll probably end up moving to SS. He's not quite as impressive on the hoof as the 6'4 225 Kearse so I'd drop him to the 6th-7th round, but I could see him becoming a better pro than his more heralded counterpart and potentially a hidden gem if he doesn't let his own head get in the way.

ILB B.J. Goodson [6'0 250] has flown under the radar a little amidst a defense full of good talent, but his combine numbers will be important. Very consistent, dependable downhill LB. Good head on his shoulders. Doesn't give up much ground. 108 tkls, 5.5 sacks, 14 TFL [9th among ILB], 2 INT, 3 PBU, and 1 FF, plus 10 solo tackles vs Bama. Clemson led the nation in TFL's and stuffs for no gain by a wide margin IIRC. Goodson was one reason why b/c he does a solid job of plugging things up. Worth a UDFA contract, maybe becomes draftable depending on combine showing.
