The two most talked about QB's for this draft are Jared Goff... and Paxton Lynch. The Browns will almost certainly snag one of them at #2 but if either one manages to fall as far as Miami's #8 pick - do you take either one? If so - which one and why? If not - why not?
Negative! I agree that if the price is right you trade back and accumulate more picks or valued targets. If not you take DB or OL because those are the most immediate needs on this team.
Exactly this is why I wanted us to tank a few more game and get in the top 4 you could get a lot of value from trading it and we need multiple 1-2 picks to fill holes.
You see what Tannehill's trade value is...I think the move that would be most ideal would be targeting Carson Wentz with whatever high pick we get from a Tannehill trade.
This year feels like another one wherein a Blaine Gabbert, Blake Bortles or a Teddy Bridgewater is the best thing out there. I haven't really seen any excitement over the QBs coming out this year.
Yeah... here is your new vote of confidence from the new coach- we just put you on the trade block. Play happy and hard.
We hired Gase to make Tannehill our franchise QB. You give Tannehill one more serious chance, and that means you draft good players around him this year. No way you draft a QB high.
It all depends on how high the team has that particular QB ranked, IF the team, especially Gase, has that QB rated very high, and has more faith in that QB developing than Tanne, you certainly take him, if not trading down is a really good option imo, since we need so many players.
Both those guys seem to need a year or two to get going... don't see how that would fit when we have so many other needs that are URGENT.
Goff is going to get smashed pretty good next year kid cannot be more than 180 pounds. I wouldn't focus on QB as there are tons of holes to fill and not worth wasting a top ten pick. I would not be opposed to trading down if we had the opportunity, but only if Ramsey or Haregraves is off the board.
There will be a great QB that we pass on to stay with Tannehill, who will then not pan out; as we watch the QB we didn't pick go on to be amazing. There is no way the Dolphins pick a QB there no matter who he is.
Tannehill will flourish under Gase. The front office identified the biggest need of last season and will fix our guard position and probably draft a tackle as insurance. Case unlike Philbin and lazor understand how fundamental an offensive line is to have a functioning offense. I would go with Hargreaves or Ramsey if available. I think we can draft a tackle in the second or third round to groom. The guards will be addressed in free agency. They have to start week one. We have no time for prospects to develop at that position
Neither Philbin or Lazor were responsible for personnel so I don't really get what you mean there. It was Tannebaum and Hickey that were responsible for stocking the cupboard and well, one was fired. Incognito should have never been let go, should have used one of our many late round picks on La'el, etc.
if the answer to my next question is yes, then you have my answer. Can they play Safety, CB, LB, OL, or DL? If they can't play those positions then you have my answer as well, no.
because they think they're better prospects? Lol we're talking about Tannehill here, not Andrew Luck.
Without a quality QB, no team will flourish. We don't have a quality QB. But I wouldn't draft one of those guys in the top 12.
And this is the problem. If Tannehill is worth a high draft pick clearly someone thinks he's a good starting qb. However we've decided he isn't. What makes us smarter than the other team who is trading for him? If someone is willing to trade than he obviously has value, you are trading value for a guess at something else.
Well I mean two franchises thought Trent Richardson was worth a first round pick. It's not like these people are infallible. That said, I would absolutely grab a mid round prospect to compete and also supplant Moore. Would not spend a 1 though, we need an impact player on defense too badly.
It depends on your evaluation of Goff. If you think he offers a greater future then you draft him and trade Tannehill.
Who has Goff stepping right in... Cleveland? Sure, take him and then we can get 4000 anti-goff threads going. Maybe SD might take one because Rivers is staying a couple more years... but they have mega-holes too to fill. Dallas might because Romo has a year or two left also IMO. Then again they are picking high for a reason too. Compare our QB to other NFL QBs = OK Compare our OL to other NFL OLs = Very much not OK Compare our D stats to other NFL top Ds = not OK Compare our DBs to other NFL DBs = not very good
It's hard to say. It would depend who is still on the board. I like Goff personally. With RT's future in doubt, I would strongly consider it. By having two QBs on staff, I would hope that we could finally resolve the QB situation (knock on wood). At the end of the year, we could could probably trade one of them. I do absolutely agree that we have bigger holes to fill than QB; however, it seems that once a team has a solid QB finding the rest of the parts is much easier than the other way around. One thing that may be missing from all of our discussions is exactly how much Gase and the rest of the organization really likes RT. Yes, everyone seems to love RT, and Gase did meet with him, but remember, no one in the front office drafted him. In addition, there is no reason for anyone to say anything to the contrary. It is highly likely that Goff and Lynch will not be on the board when we pick. If that is the case, it is fairly obvious that RT would be better than any other QB and the dilemma posed by Galant simply does not come into play. Here is the rub. The rumor going into the coaching carousel was that the new coach would have the ability to move on from RT. RT is certainly better than all/most of the free agent options out there. The question is, "Is he better than Goff or Lynch?" No one would ever say he is, but what we say and what we do may be very different. On draft day, nothing would surprise me. That extends as far as moving up to get one of them. I would not trust anything anyone says/reports from now until the draft. There certainly is a possibility of smoke and mirrors going on right now.
What 'rumor' and what 'coaching carousel' do you speak of? How many coaches did we interview? Trading up to get a QB at least 2 years away when that is not your team's major problem doesn't seem the right move to me. A good QB isn't going to be any better with those problems still lingering.
