Why do you continue to quantify other peoples thoughts?

How am I quantifying anyone's thoughts? I am qualifying other people's thoughts....is that what you mean?

I've asked you, for example, numerous times to explain what you mean on a few things, and you reply with insults/attitude.

PRETTY MUCH EVERY SCOUTING REPORT on him coming out of college has his leadership as a strength or positive. I have yet to see one that has it as a negative

I truly think Tannehill is a stand-up guy (at least from what we see). I've questioned his leadership a while ago. We did see him this year in camp finally get into someone's sh!t, but I think it was like Damien Williams or someone. Not really anyone of worth.

He's an alter boy from what I see. Comes off flaky, but will do everything he can to better himself for THE TEAM. He's certainly not selfish from all accounts, and even maybe to a fault.

My issue is that while he's stand-up, he just comes off as another guy. At least, that's how I think he comes off. And to his team, he shouldn't be just come off as 'some dude' because he is THE man. And I think that's the disconnect. He doesn't really put it all out there, or hasn't with any frequency; meaning, he doesn't go all out in games. Whether it's because he was coached to wuss out (or doesn't trust himself), when he doesn't give his guys a chance, it comes off as distrust to the players who catch the ball. Maybe a lack of confidence. We did see some 'trust', if you will, later in the year.

My prime example of a QB who just chunks it is Eli Manning. He gives his receivers every opportunity to make the play. AND he's not some 'in your face' leader. He earned it by trusting his guys. Eli has made some throws that are out of this world, even during the Super Bowls. And it's because of that 'leave it all on the field' mentality, he's won two against maybe the best dynasty the NFL has ever seen.

Much like Eli, Tannehill has the arm strength to make some 'wow' throws. He should show more trust in his guys, then maybe we see this turn. I know every year I see something different that shows me he is improving. While he improves, I'd just like to see him put it all together and just play ball. That's all he needs to do, is play ball. Backyard football kind of stuff. I think that's where Eli gets it. He's just out there playing football instead of worrying about if he's going to make a mistake that puts him in the sheethouse with the coach.

And this may be where Gase comes in.

Gase said something very telling in his presser: Tannehill should know he'll have someone in his corner. And now with Philbin coming out saying he wanted Carr, Philbin maybe showed disdain towards Tannehill, even if he didn't come out and say it. And look, this isn't against Philbin, but if he knew his job rode on Tannehill but felt he wasn't the guy, a little disdain is very likely to be expected. Tannehill probably felt it. Hell, he may have even tanked early to help the firing process along? Conspiracy theories, but who knows?

If Gase can instill that play ball mentality and give him the idea that an INT isn't all that bad if the risk is worth it, he might just start turning the corner. I typically see a guy who plays it too safe. And that only gets you to 8-8 in the NFL. For example, on some third and longs with field position, go downfield. And INT isn't so bad given that long pick sixes are unlikely. Basically a punt.

I'm rambling, but I still have faith that Tannehill can be pretty darned good. I don't want him to fail. But I also want to draft a QB who has starting potential. Because if Tannehill isn't the guy, we need to start grooming.

Well David Carr was destroyed by his offensive line. I'm not sure he wasn't a leader before he got shellshocked. Tannehill has pretty much gone through the same yet he hasn't been broken which speaks well for tanny imo

    Is Dalton not a leader?

Henne simply didn't have the skills. You cant be a leader if you suck.

Tannehill seems like the kind of kid as a parent you would be really proud of for how he is.

Its not an insult, but its not what I would prefer my franchise QB to be.

I think this last season he already took a step in that regard. He is starting to become more aggressive. Now Gase will hopefully come in, wipe away a few years of bad coaching and drill a new mentality into him. FWIW, I think it might be easier to get a QB who has conservative tendencies to be a little more reckless than the other way around. If you think about it, if Gase indeed is all he's cracked up to be, it will be the best coaching he's ever gotten in his carreer, including college.
