I'm not trashing him. Maybe he would have won a title last year if this happened or that didn't happen, but in the end he didn't win. His finals record doesn't look good and it will almost certainly continue to look worse over the next few years. That will without a doubt damage his legacy. Maybe he goes down as a top 5 player, but a couple years ago people were debating whether he'd go down as the best, and you can bet that is what he's always wanted. The longer he continues to not win titles, the more people will criticize him. Fair or not, that will be the case.

On a better note, great win for the Heat tonight. The defense was suffocating, and with his struggles over the past few weeks, it was nice to see Winslow have a really nice game. He absolutely locked Butler down, and made some plays on offense, as well as rebounding well. They really needed this one. Now hopefully they can get some of these guys back soon and make a charge.

Dubs are molesting the Spurs tonight.

Update: Dubs beat the brakes off the Spurs 120-90. Uh yeah..they stay healthy...we are just passing time till their coronation in June.

Bit of a roller coaster, but really nice win for the Heat. Gritty and much-needed.

Going back to the last six or so he's actually played, Udrih has been really solid. He's finding a nice fit in our offense. Pleasantly surprised. Who knew that having an actual PG was...important. TJ looked a lot healthier, his energetic self. Hopefully he holds up on the b2b tonight.

The 4th Q defense was just beautiful. Bosh and Winslow, especially...as usual. Winslow either watches a lot of film or gets great scouting reports on gameday, cause man he is step-for-step with some of these stud wings, just up in their chest. And working off the ball as well: Jimmy Butler only got 15 shots off (made 5), even with Rose out for the 2nd half. He's been fantastic on the glass lately as well, which makes him more versatile with different (non-HW) lineups.

But in the end...we needed a win badly...and Wade just dominates. That's it, man. Wade is Wade. So good last night.

It's kinda nice to have BKN tonight on the b2b. Bosh, Wade, and Winslow all played 34+ in CHI, but after tonight there's 2 days off, should get Dragic and maybe Whiteside back...then MIL on Friday, which feels like an important one. Take care of business in Brooklyn.

His legacy will be based on championships at least in discussions about the greatest players ever. When he was in Miami the debate was starting to be about him vs. Jordan as the GOAT. Without more championships he won't be in that debate anymore. IMO it was a bad basketball decision to leave Miami b/c it limited his chances. Even if you believe that Cleveland was likely to win a championship in the two or three years after he left Miami (I didn't and said so at the time), for him to accumulate more championships he needed a team that could reload/rebuild at least a couple of times. That was never going to happen in Cleveland.

Whoa - Blake Griffin got in an argument with an equipment manager and punched him - then followed him outside and punched him again, breaking his hand. He's out for a few weeks.

I think if he had won the titles with Bosh and Wade people wouldn't have given him the ultimate credit. It wasn't the best basketball move but honestly Heat fans are just butt hurt and trying to trash him. He will be in the discussion for top 1-3 when he retires depending on if he wins more titles in Cleveland. Heat fans honestly are just transparent here, you guys are the jilted ex and it shows in the postings about him. Lebron wasn't really in the discussion for GOAT over Jordan, he was discussed as having the chance to be in that discussion but no one, absolutely no one put him above Jordan and realistically no one ever would unless he has some kind of run like 3 in a row, etc. and he wouldn't get that with GS putting things together in Miami either. Miami would have more than likely lost last year and this year with Lebron so I don't see the drop off in him going to Cleveland that you guys do.
In Miami he would have been the #1 seed and lost to GS, in Cleveland he's the #1 seed and losing to GS so I don't think its anything legacy hurting at all.

I cannot ****ing tell you how tired I am of seeing Miami's final 3 minute offense be, ok everyone go spread out and then stay still as statues while Wade dribbles dribbles dribbles fakes dribbles fakes dribbles dribbles dribbles takes completely off balance covered shot just inside the 3 point line.

    Good play guys!

Very next possession, guess what you moved the ****ing ball and you were able to find Wade open under the net and he was able to make a three point play. Go ****ing figure!

Had he stayed in Miami, the next incarnation of the Heat would have come with Whiteside, AND/OR the use of CAP SPACE this offseason, which he does NOT HAVE in Cleveland. He made a dumb move, but good for him, he wanted more power, and his "own thing".

So..incorrect. We are not "Butthurt" BTW. You have no idea how insulting that term is to Heat fans.

Good thing Riley doesnt wear a skirt like Dan Gilbert does and told Lebron to deal with it. 4 Finals appearances and two rings, yeah I dont think Spoelstra was the problem. Lack of depth the first season because we paid 3 max contracts and a bunch of vet mins, and injuries the last finals appearance.

Spo was the architect of the small ball lineup that got Lebron those rings, a system that has never been tried consistently and isnt even the traditional Heat way. But it worked, and it sure as hell works in Golden State, the league is a copycat league.

You can keep throwing out that fans are being "butt hurt" or "trashing him", or you can actually read what's being said about him. The fact is, he was in the discussion about being the best ever, and as the years go on without him winning, he will start sliding down the list. Those are the facts. Two titles with a (most likely significant) losing record in the finals doesn't put you among the top 3. It might get you in the top 5, but I can promise you that is not what LeBron wants. He wants to be #1. I believe that is what is most important to him, and that was my overall point in the original post. His only shot at that was to continue winning titles. You can choose to objectively look at it and see that's clearly the case, or you can continue to be combative and ignore reality.

Riley would have given him a much better chance of winning championships deep into his career. His chance at building that legacy was never based on just a couple of seasons. He needed long-term stability in a place that could attract FAs especially as his skills diminished. That's what he needed to be in the GOAT discussion. He gave that up by going back to Cleveland. And I never felt particularly jilted by Lebron. I felt it was a dumb move on his part but it didn't effect me much. Even when he was in Miami I said several times that even though he was obviously a great player, I didn't like him much. He was way down my list of favorite Heat players. And this was when he was on the Heat and I assumed he was staying for at least one more contract. I was shocked when he left, but it didn't hurt. At this point its basically a shrug for me.

LeBron would never have been regarded as the GOAT in Miami. The narrative would always have been that he needed to go join another team to win, rather than build one himself. Hell, I don't think he would have ever surpassed Wade in the all-time conversation.

Also, I think people underestimate how much of a physical toll LeBron was taking in Miami. This wasn't a young team, and I'm sure his preference wasn't to be guarding 4s and 5s, and posting up as much as he did. At some point LeBron wants to be the guy on a maintenance program, not the guy making it easy for someone else to be on one.

Beyond that, you also have the money situation. Taking a paycut for a couple of years makes sense - it changed the narrative around LeBron's career, and it helped land Wade a big shoe deal. But ultimately those two were giving up millions of dollars.

Ehhhhh I think it's a stretch to just assume the Heat find Whiteside if LeBron is still there. It would be a very different team than the one last year that was able to give Whiteside that sort of playing time and even needed him in the first place.

I don't agree with this. There was always talk about him getting help and yet the argument about him vs. Jordan was still there. The "help" argument was always nonsense as even Jordan had quite a bit of help and in time people would have stopped with that. When it's all said and done, titles talk. If he won more of them, he'd have been in the conversation. If he never wins another, he probably won't even be in the conversation for top 3.

The Heat were talking with Hassan Whiteside while Lebron was still under contract with the Heat. They had made him an offer during the 14' season and found that he was not eligible due to a contract he had signed.

Every year Lebron was here, Pat Riley experimented with a big man reclamation project. Whiteside would have been the latest.

You guys are the text book, dictionary definition of butthurt. I mean it couldn't be more obvious. Your team has been mediocre to crap since Lebron left and you guys watched him have the best team in the East. Yet all I hear is about how stupid he is/was, how he wasn't really that good, how you never really like liked him, I mean its like listening to a jilted ex.

That's what I'd do if I were ATL. I don't know anything about the lockerroom/personality stuff, but on the court, this Schroder kid looks really promising. There just aren't many guys who move like that, and he's got nice length at the position to go along with the crazy quicks and speed. I'm a fan. Better to move on from Teague while they're not quite true contenders, try to get a piece for him.
