According to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports, vice president of football administration Dawn Aponte is leaving the Dolphins front office to go work for the Lions. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/01/28/dolphins-exec-dawn-aponte-leaving-for-lions-job/ Story updated. She is not leaving. Marvez stated on twitter he was mistaken.
You are correct. It now appears she did meet with the Lions, but Marvez has now stated she decided to remain with the Dolphins instead of taking the job with the Lions.
What I will remember most about her when I hear that name is how she tried to align herself with the people she thought best kept her employeed. She flipped more than a circus artist. If I'm a coach or GM, I wouldn't trust her one bit.
How, by cutting talent? Is that how we want to have our cap situation be? Well were in bad shape, but you know if we cut these good players, we wont be in a terrible spot.... great...
Looks like she is staying after all...... Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reported earlier on Thursday that Aponte would be departing Miami for Detroit. Marvez now reports Aponte is staying. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/01/28/new-report-aponte-staying-with-dolphins/
How about the Redskins and Cowboys in the 'uncapped' year ?? Here's a quote: [h=2]Salarycapgate (1996-98) to top ⤴home ⇐awards ⤵[/h]TEAM: The Denver Broncos SEVERITY: SUMMARY: On September 17, 2004, the league announced that, for the second time in three years, the Denver Broncos were fined nearly a million dollars and would, once again, lose their third-round draft pick because of salary cap violations between 1996 and 1998. No I'm not. I'm simply saying our cap situation sucks. So how is she great at her job? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You are saying the players need to be released for our cap situation to be good. That is more on the quality of players than what she has done. Our cap situation isn't bad. In fact, she has done a really good job of creating contracts for the players that her bosses want her to sign.
Her job isn't to find talent. Her job is to make those guys fit under the cap. Because of her, we've been able to sign high priced free agents. Because of her, we can restructure Suh's deal and get more cap space without Suh agreeing to it since its already in his contract. You're mad at the wrong person.
Since the new TV deals kicked in, the cap has risen apprx $10M a year and is projected to be over $150M this year. In 2017, it projects to be $160M, 2018 at $170M, 2019 at at $180M, and 2020 at $190M. The new CBA forces teams to spend 90% of that over 4 years, and this additional spending depletes the FA market as teams keep either their own players or to go after higher priced FAs. Something to think about in what our team will be doing this year with OV, Miller, etc... As for the Suh contract: http://www.businessinsider.com/ndamukong-suh-contract-miami-dolphins-2015-3 Of course, there should be an extra $10-$30M in the cap for 2018 and 1019, which had to be a factor in this contract from the start... YMMV.
Exactly, she's quietly one of the biggest back-stabbing snakes in the league. She's a cancer in the organization.
On the nose. People acting like she's back stabber and not a goddamned one of them knows a single thing that actually happened in that office and if they did, they have no idea if its typical across the league or not....but she's a woman with power...so boom.
There are a handful of posters at ThePhins who believe some genuinely bizarre and disturbing things about women. I think that's part of it, but I think some people genuinely have weird ideas about the job she has done too. lol speaking of that I just noticed CashInFist was banned.
Quality of players have nothing to do with them needing to be released to help our cap. And in what world are we in good cap situation? I never said anything about talent. And I am not mad at anyone. I am just asking how anyone can come to the conclusion shes great at her job yet we are not in a good situation cap wise? We have an extreme amount of dead money. etc. I don't look at head coaches and say he is a good coach even though we have a crappy record during his tenure.
WADR, you're not understanding her job. She's not choosing the players. The FO chooses the player and the market dictates what that player is worth. Her job is to massage the numbers so they are as palatable as possible with the most amount of flexibility. For example, the size of the Suh contract is not her fault. The fact that we can pay what we're paying and still have room to maneuver is her fault however and that's a testament to how good she is.
Sure it is. You are, after all, known for your insider info. Funny side note...Serpico is about a guy who was considered a snitch. Funny considering the discussion.
