Mets executive Paul DePodesta is leaving the franchise, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (Twitter link). In fact, he’ll be leaving baseball entirely and will join the Browns as their executive vice president, per Joel Sherman of the New York Post (via Twitter). ouch....sorry Boik....
Brown's Front Office... let's see, can we make a baseball guy executive VP of our football team? Yes we can. Then again... it can't be much worse football wise.
The Royals have reached agreement on a deal that will bring star left fielder Alex Gordon back to Kansas City, MLB.com’s Jeffrey Flanagan reports on Twitter. Gordon will receive a $72MM guarantee over a four-year term, according to reports from Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports (via Twitter) and Jon Heyman (links to Twitter).
Griffey elected with highest percentage 99.3 of all-time (only 3 voters left him off ballot), and Piazza (83%) elected to HoF. Congrats to both! Bagwell misses out with just over 71.6% (should get in next year?), Raines 69.8%. others that stayed above the 5% rule for next year Trevor Hoffman - 67.3 percent Curt Schilling - 52.3 percent Roger Clemens - 45.2 percent Barry Bonds - 44.3 percent Edgar Martinez - 43.4 percent Mike Mussina - 43.0 percent Adam Trammell - 40.9 percent Lee Smith - 34.1 percent Fred McGriff - 20.9 percent Jeff Kent - 16.6 percent Larry Walker - 15.5 percent Mark McGwire - 12.3 percent Gary Sheffield - 11.6 percent Billy Wagner - 10.5 percent Sammy Sosa - 7.0 percent
Looks like Hoffman will have a pretty good shot next year too. Vlad Guerrero and Chipper are the big names being added next year I believe.
Bagwell absolutely should get in next year. It's crazy he isn't in the Hall already. Raines has a pretty good shot too, he's another that should be in already too. Glad Piazza made it this year as well, deserved it long ago but yeah you can't piss off the moral police by having pimples on your back. It's incredible that Hoffman will probably get into the HOF before guys like Schilling and Mussina all because of the silly save stat.
Oh a pun! Keep in mind arb years were bought out.. His contract does end at and ideal time for a guy thats game is based on speed though... No trade contract on the Marlins? Did Loria go into coma?
I think Gordon is over rated. But for 10 mil a year, especially 4 & 5 years from now. You give him the no trade clause in a heart beat to sign that deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree I think Gordon is overrated too as all his value is in his speed and his BABIP but the contract is very team friendly, especially with inflating MLB contracts.
Aint nothing overrated about his defense. We got a faster version of Luis Castillo. Thats good enough to me
They needed someone they could count on for innings. With their payroll that is the best they could do after resigning Gordon. Look at the roster and the contracts and recent success perhaps then it would make sense
Nothing is going to make sense of giving a replacement level pitcher 70 million Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Disagree. There's replacement pitchers all over the map for a lot less than 70 mil Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There definately always are. For example, the Cubs have recently done short deals with Paul Maholm, Carlos Viluanueva, Scott Feldman and Jason Hammel, and gotten decent results out of all of them. Temporary band aids on one or two year deals for the 4-5 spots in the rotation until better options can be found.
I would hope that they see more potential in Kennedy than replacement level SP. That's not market value...that's messing up the market for teams this year and next. My guess is they probably feel he's tipping pitches or they see a mechanical issue they feel is fixable but they still drastically overpaid.
With the apparent new changes in the MLB.tv package that allow people to purchase just one team's games, has anyone heard any speculation if the DirecTV Extra Innings package might do the same thing? I can't get broadband, so I can't watch games online, and unlike the NFL I don't really care to pay to watch other team's games, but if there were a cheaper package to just watch the Cubs, I'd be all in. Thus far, thats been sadly impossible.
That Tigers offense is going to be pretty damn good.. Not sure if they will be able to get anyone out though.
Just announced Chapman isn't being charged, making that thief of the Reds all the more better. Now, hopefully MLB will still suspend him for 45 games so he doesn't reach free agency until after next year...
Yanks lost Bird for the entire 2016 season with a torn labrum......looks like Tex has to play a full season now................ UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
He will be fine.....I had the same surgery, as long as he doesn't come back to soon which he wont..... To think he put up pretty decent numbers even WITH that tear....
I dont think anyone ever saw him being at that level to begin with. A very good 1b yes but not an all star type... I'd be happy with that.
