You skipped about 8 years and one Super Bowl ring between those two Steelers backs you mentioned.

Miller will likely get a contract which will at least pay him 5-6 million dollars a year over the next 4-5 years.
Assuming the Dolphins are willing to sign him to a 25 to 30 million dollar contract, you are correct they can get it done. Anything less than that and I think he will be playing elsewhere next year.

Also a lot of people seem to think good RB's are a dime a dozen. That just is not the case and I remember quite well the many years the Dolphins could not find a single decent RB during the Marino years. Miller has been the best RB on the Dolphins since Ricky Williams and prior to Ricky, the Dolphins went through several years of below average running backs.

I think the signing of Miller by the Dolphins is probably the most important free agent signing the team can make this off season. Hopefully he is a priority signing for Gase and the front office.

Miller has gotten better along the way too, you don't develop guys for 4 years then just let them go. If someone wants to offer Miller an outrageous deal thats fine, let him go but we need to keep him if we can get him reasonably. I'm not sure what that point was about top Rbs, the Steelers would have won that game against Denver with Bell. I wouldn't give a back the kind of money that Peterson gets, I don't think thats worth it but a reasonable deal for Miller helps the team. We don't need to create holes in this roster to fill by losing our quality Free Agents.

Dallas money situation is not good either... if they keep McLain they will not have that much they can do. They have CB problems too.

Who is to say that Miller wants many more carries? Maybe RBs now with the information out there are happy to share the workload knowing it will lead to a longer career and a better post career life?

Yeah... thats what I have always said about backup QBs. Sure, give me a couple million to hold the clipboard and not get hit in practice.

Maybe he likes it here, maybe his family does, maybe he is ready to turn it on, maybe he is locked in with these guys and wants to bring the team back. Here is to hope.

Maybe the Cowboys will draft Elliot and leave Lamar alone... please!?!

Maybe his family will want to keep him close... and not Jac or TB.

We are actually going to discuss the running backs on Perfectville this week. What Miami should do, and if they don't, what their plan B should be.

I guess that all of those in favour of letting Miller go so easily, would have also not cared if back in the day we kept Mercury Morris or let him walk. Miller is a great back and we need to keep him.period.

I agree, to an extent. I mean, it has to make sense financially speaking. And, right now we're just not in a very good position cap wise.

But, even if he is resigned, are they smart enough to utilize him to his fullest extent? Which would include an O-line capable of competent run blocking.

The offense should of revolved around him and the run game last year, but the staff(s) and OC(s) were absolutely clueless on how to identify what works. Hopefully that changes this year.

The cap is going up this year by a projected 10 million, some say conservatively. We will have the cap to keep both Miller and OV with a few necessary cuts/restructures, it's just up to the front office to get it done. The Suh cap hit with the ability to restructure is going to be a lot more manageable than I think most people realized at the time of his signing. You need to build around guys like Suh and Tannehill, a lot of our fans don't understand this, the important thing is our front office does which is all that matters. These two players are probably the main reason Dan Marino doesn't think this team is too far off from really competing, the talent is here, and the stench of Failbin's crew is FINALLY GONE.

I couldn't agree more. How in the hell we lost the Giants game is still beyond me. Miller should've ended up with like 150 rushing yards and 3-4 TD's the way he ran in the first half!

I fear that if we don't re-sign Miller... he will do well somewhere else (Dallas) and our running game (and overall offense) will turn into a crap sandwich.

they can not give Miller that kind of money. They dont have it

Considering there is no way we pay Cameron, Jennings, and one of Grimes/Wake what they made this past season, they'll have that available for Miller. There's also a built in restructure for Suh's deal as well as the potential to restructure Tannehill.

With the offensive line in Dallas, assuming Miller has the conditioning for workhorse status, he's going to multiple pro-bowls. He's an advanced stat monster. With increased usage and that good of an offensive line, he'd be a breakout runner.

Yes there will be room to sign Miller, but Tanne's contract won't be restructured, this season is his cheapest by about half, 9mil, the following year it's goes up to 18 mil and stays right around there for 4 years.

No they wont brother. They have to replace all those players and a draft and FA. I think if they keep Miller (don't forget Jarvis landry and Kenny Stiles need some coin), and I hope they do they have got some majic to work out. Almost 30 mill in dead money. Next year gets even worse.

I hate to sound negative but we will have 58 million next year if we restructure SUH and only 24 players under contract. That means they will have to sign 30 players plus draft plus FA. Whatever they do this year, like signing Miller, etc, money will subtract from next years pot and the 58 goes down. They have their work cut out for them

Can Ajayi and Williams carry the load in your opinions? Could Ajayi grow into a feature back? Maybe we could pick up a decent FA runner-receiver too.

I am hoping Cameron, Landry, Parker and Stills blow it up (I think they can) this year with Gase... need someone out of the backfield and a legit running game too tho.

    But the D... HELP!!!

i think Ajayi i either dedicates himself to the craft from a physical/conditioning perspective or he won't reach his talent ceiling.

Believe me I want to keep Miller. One of the things I believe is you don't change for the sake of change. Stills is in the last year of his contract and will make 1.6 this year. Unless they let him walk at the end of the season they better be ready to pony up 3m a year because I guarantee you that's what he wants min.

Until we fix the line(will take 2 years) the running game will not be what it can be. The more I see where we are at with looking at the cap and contracts closer, etc, I think Holly **** the deck is stacked against Gace & Co. Now Ross sounding off about Gace has 3 years to make the playoffs.

Care to discuss who are next coach is going to be now?

More like the former coaching staff, hopefully. They treated him like a china doll, fearing he would split into 100 pieces if he touched the ball too often.

And neither investment paid off. Further lowering RB free agent values this yr. The good news is I still haven't bought a 26 jersey. Even though I really want to. Cuz its my favorite number. And my favorite player to wear it EVER!!! But if I buy his jersey now for sure he won't be back. So either he come's back or I get his jersey on clearance. Either way I win.

It has been really great actually some places..which i wont mention lol are not the same type of community. I use to go to Dolphins games when I lived in Winter Park which, was a ritual with my dad. It can be crazy going to a game with a bunch of women with all the hooting and hollering that happens.

    Per Abramson -
"Team officials will meet with Miller’s agent Drew Rosenhaus at the NFL scouting combine this week as the two sides discuss a potential long-term deal. If Miller isn’t under contract by March 7, other NFL teams can begin contacting him. He could sign with another team as early as March 15.
“We’d all like Lamar here,” general manager Chris Grier said. “We drafted him, we know him, we spent a lot of time with Lamar over the years. That being said, you’d always love to have the guys you know. You know what you’re getting day-to-day, in terms of the person, the work ethic in the locker room. We’re meeting with his agent here at some point, trying to get something done.”
... "Tannenbaum said it’s too early to know if the Dolphins focus on offense or defense in this year’s draft, which begins April 28.
“For us, it really depends on what happens between now and the draft,” he said. “If we would lose (receiver) Rishard Matthews and Lamar Miller, that could change our thinking.”"

Kind of an empty comment by Tbaum(no offense to Phinsanity), what team hasn't done a lot of deals with Rosenhaus, the guy's been the most prominent agent for over 20 years.
