The point of my post was to point out that your assessment is even more suspect than Jennings'. It is more agenda driven then his.

You think all I do is praise Thill and the team, but I've criticized Thill and the team plenty. You **** on him all the time, you've never praised him for a good play or game.

So yes, you have an agenda and its obvious to literally everyone.

Lol i dont even debate you, your always the one pulling the trigger first. If my posts hurt your soul so bad, just put me on ignore. Idc about your view points, for goodness sake, you thought Philbin was a good coach lmao and yes, when our QB makes a ton of money and plays like the average, mediocre QB that he actually is, im gonna call him out for it.

    The thing here is your agenda to attack anyone who has a differing opinion, SG13 simply stated the truth;

    Simply saying that you have to take anything he says with a grain of salt, then you basically accuse SG13 of somehow attacking Tanne;

His comment had nothing to do with Tanne, it was about Jennings, and then you accuse HIM of having an agenda.

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

A very reasonable and fair assessment. I would add though that their are variations or Hybrids of every offense and Defense. Rex Ryan runs the 46 but it is a hybrid of the original. I run the 46 pretty straight up. It is a excellent defense. Both Miami's offense and defenses are hybrids. It usually is part of the scheme to throw the other side off. Miami is just not real good at doing it. Most likely due to talent and coaching on both sides of the ball.

    Its pretty convenient.

    I have an agenda.

    Greg Jennings has an agenda.

But the guy who literally posts nothing but Thill hate (a position you tend to agree with)....no agenda.

    Duly noted.

I don't see it on here. There are other QBs who threw it as much or more, or very close to him, yet the only one people complain about "volume stats" on is Tannehill. If he had thrown for 40 tds, people would still write it off as a "volume stat."

This seems to be the same problem with everything under Philbin. It's more than just a failure to adapt to the strengths/weaknesses of his players. It's about overall inflexibility. Everybody had to fit into the same cookie-cutter mold or they were the problem. You hear the same thing in the Finnegan quote. He basically retired from football b/c the Dolphins failed to adapt their practices to the needs of an older player. Then he goes to Carolina and is part of a SB defense.

Well, let's say you're right, why waste your time arguing with people who have proven they have a bias? To me, that's the big question.

Also, in all fairness, this is a Dolphins fan-board. By the fact, it's not going to be the most objective audience. There are forums which exist wherein people are much more objective because they are fans of the game just as much as they are fans of a team. On this particular board, it's a lot of die-hard Dolphins fans who usually love/hate particular players.

Also, there's a general lack of respect on the mains here. People are constantly snarky, sarcastic and jerkish. I don't understand why some people feel the need to express their opinions in that way but you can watch the conversations here devolve. Two people disagree, someone says something sarcastic/snarky and the whole thing becomes a fight.

When Ted Ginn scores a TD today, there will be fans on this board booing him, lol, and that's because the tendency of fans is to have an us-or-them mindset.

It sounds like what you need is to be surrounded by more people who are just fans of the game and who don't automatically feel compelled to defend "their" guys or knock other players around the league.

What he said about Jennings is what I automatically assume about any player currently with a team talking about a teammate, they definitely aren't going to say anything bad, which is all he pointed out, and that is 100% honest.

Whether or not he has an agenda towards Tanne doesn't change the fact that what he said was true.

The troll just likes to assume everything is about Tannehill. I was generalizing what players say, amd Jennings was talkin about Tannehill so I used Tannehill as the example, thats my fault, next time i'll use Matt Moore or something. These guys have the thinnest skin I have ever seen.

Tannehill was 9th in yards, and 8th in overall attempts. The difference between 8th and 11th was 24 attempts. The only QB with more yards but fewer attempts was Carson Palmer.

Please tell me how everyone is downgrading Brees, Rivers, Brady, and Matt Ryan for volume stats. Aaron Rodgers, for instance, had 572 attempts, but couldn't break 4k. Everyone's favorite, Carr, had 573, and didn't break 4k.

But let's all bag on Tannehill for "volume stats," doing it all without a run game.

Because Aaron Rodgers has shown he has the ability. Peak Rodgers, we have seen. So there is no point in comparing him. Is this Peak Tannehill? That's the question. If it is, it's decent but not great.
What people mean by volume stat is, just that. I go with YPA. Efficiency stats. You don't need 4k to have a great year. Andy Dalton, may or may not have hit 4k yards but he was having an excellent season, with a 8.4 ypa. Romo last year passed for 3.7k but with an 8.5 ypa and they had an excellent year.

The lack of the run game is part of the cause for the increased volume stats. If Miami ran a balanced offense and Tanny passed it 435 times like Romo did last year, he'd have 3,100 yards. Tanny finally broke 7.0 in ypa, which is a good sign. Carr tailed off at the end but it's telling you're comparing year 4 of Tanny to year 2 of Carr.

I don't care which year of Tannehill's you compare to Carr, really, I don't. I used this year, because no one was crowing about Carr last year with his 5.5ypa.

I'm just saying, people act like Tannehill is the only QB benefiting from throwing a ton. I'm saying, pretty much every QB that hit 4k, threw it as much, or more, than Tannehill. 4 out of 13 4k passers threw fewer times than Tannehill, and 7 threw more times than Tannehill. Seems like most of the 4k guys are "volume stats" passers.

When Jennings said about Tannehill being like a 6 year old, and that at some point you have to take the .... bottle out of his mouth... am I the only one who thought he was going to say breast? I mean, he paused like he was running a hitch at 9 yards

You're wrong. People were crowing about Carr last year. Yes he had a 5.5 ypa, with zero weapons and despite all of that, made few mistakes. A lot of people were high on him, even over Bridgewater.

I know what you're saying. Nobody is saying it's a terrible achievement or he took 10000 passes to get there. Yeah most of the 4k guys are volume stat passers, because most QBs aren't great. Noticed you left out Kirk Cousins and Russell Wilson both hit 4k with a lot less attempts. Over 100 less attempts by Wilson, only 200 yards less passing. Cousins just 42 less yards, but 43 less yards as well. Most of the year without his best weaspon (Desean Jackson). Cousins had a great year it's insane.

What exactly are you trying to prove by cherry picking these stats? The difference between Wilson, Cousins and Tanny, in regards to passes per game, is three each. 30, 33, 36

I can't speak for everyone, but I'm not acting like Tanne is the only one, but I don't really care about the other guys, I'm responding to people that hold up that 4000yds like it's a great acheivement, just like it was with Hartline's 1000yd seasons, it's just volume that got them there, and this is the real kicker here, and what is at the crux of why people say "volume", it's when there should not have been that much volume.

Uh, those are two of the guys with fewer attempts who hit 4k.

I'm not really interested in names, per se, as that's not the point. The point is people going after Tannehill for "volume stats," but I've never, ever heard that before, until Tannehill hit 4k in his third season.

    That's all I'm getting at.

My point is, almost EVERY QB, from Tannehill to Brady, who gets 4k, gets it by throwing a ton.

I'll just start to refer to Brady and Brees as volume passers, and watch heads explode.

I know I'm not the only one so I'm in no way saying I'm more informed than anyone else, but I know I've taken a look at Ryan Tannehill through the lens of many a stat. If you asked me what the over-arching message is, I'd say that it's that he's D.F.M. (dead f'in middle).

The upside of that is of course that there are quite a few guys who are not any better than him. Most of us acknowledge that. There's a long list of QBs who seem to trend up and down with each year (i.e. Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Eli Manning, Alex Smith, etc.). While most of those guys have 10 years or so experience, I definitely expect that Tannehill could get into that same group over the next 4-6 years.

I think what's missing though is that X-factor kind of stat that would put Tannehill over the top. He's solid across the board, but he's really not threatening the rest of the league in terms of being tops at anything. If we know anything about the game today it's that you'd better be able to do something really well.

I know that I was really hoping we might see a 40 TD year out of Tannehill or a season in which he kept the INTs in the single digits. It's hard for me to imagine he's going to threaten 4,600+ yards given that he doesn't seem like the gunslinger type. We've seen that with QBs like Andrew Luck who seem to put up 300-yd games every other week.

At this point, I think I speak for most of us when I say the best thing Tannehill could do is flash with something great in 2016. Give us something which is undeniable. Give us something which we can point to and say, 'that definitely wasn't scheme' or 'average QBs don't do that!'

Yeah, I don't really disagree, except that I think with average play from his oline, Tannehill will have very good stats. Tannehill may not be able to elevate crap to good, but when he has decent play from others he looks very good, imo.

    Yes.

That being said, again, I don't think many, if any, QBs have found themselves in the situation Tannehill was in from the get-go. So, while Rivers, for instance, played very well this year with a bad team, he's also got much more experience. Just one example.

How many QBs get their college HC as there NFL OC in their rookie season? I cant think of many cases, there should of been a level of comfort for Tannehill that many rookie QBs WISH they had. So while not everything has been perfect, he has had winning situations that should of helped his growth. If Tannehill proves it to me, I will be his biggest supporter, similar to how I am for Reshad and Jarvis right now but nobody else on this team has proven anything to me, including Tannehill.

The implication when people say that is that it means something. I'm not sure that it does, quite frankly. Then you add the questionable nature of Sherman into the mix. As I recall, nobody really approved of Sherman towards the end and there was pretty good reason for that. His play-calling was pretty predictable as I remember.

Maybe Tannehill wasn't benefited by having Sherman the way people assume. We don't really know.

Tannehill has been in a winning situation?

Was that his very good defenses creating that? Was it the stellar receivers like Hartline and Legends creating it? Was it laing an entire coaching stat in one season that created it?

Look, Tannehill may not be the answer. My only point, for the last three seasons, is that he hasn't been in a position to succeed.

My point is that not every Qb gets there by throwing too much, no one thinks that those guys throw too much, Tanne is being forced to throw too much, just like Hartline was thrown to too much, when people say "volume", they're saying "being used too much".

    No QB has thrived with:
    - a bad oline
    - horrible OCs
    - abandoned run game
    - not allowed to audible

    No QB. Ever.

How some people can't understand that being that handcuffed and still coming across as average is an incredible achievement is beyond me.

This is why I'm hard on all of you hate on him. You refuse to see how impressive this is.

Oh. Now we're getting even farther into opinion. Tannehill throws "to much," but other QBs who throw more aren't throwing "too much."
