I just can't put Ginn in the same category as Jason Allen, or Ryan Leaf, or Vernon Gholston, or Jawalrus Russel, or Tim Couch, etc etc. Those guys are busts. Couldn't have productive careers. Ginn was drafted higher than he deserved, but had still had a pretty successful career.

Everyone wanted Quinn instead of Ginn. Quinn is doing podcasts with Darlington while Ginn is in the Super Bowl. Hard to call Ginn a bust.

    I can.
Ginn rebounded and deserves to be credited for having a decent career. However he was a failure of a draft pick. he might be a lesser bust, however he is still a bad draft selection for the Miami Dolphins.

If you want to create a new word for a bust rebound, sure.

Also, Jason Allen played in the NFL for six year.

Manning going to end his career with a SB win. Giving me similar feelings to when Ray Lewis won the SB with his last game. Happy to see both of them get that last accolade.

Actually, was in the league for 8 years. Started 23 games in 8 years. Not on the same level as Ginn.

Since he has remained in the league for nine seasons, I still can not consider him a bust. Perhaps the reason he never had success in Miami had to do more with the terrible coaching he received while he was with the Dolphins.
Because like so many other former Dolphins, he has had far more success with other teams than he had with the Dolphins, once he received better coaching.

I certainly agree he shouldn't have been a first round draft pick, but that was the fault of Cameron and the FO in 2007. Ginn certainly didn't hold a gun to their head and force them to draft him in the first round.

In hindsight Jordan shouldn't have even been drafted in 2013. Yet Ireland was dumb enough to trade up and draft him.

The fact is that the NFL draft is mostly a crapshoot and sometimes you get lucky, but most of the time you just get crap.

True, but I had tremendous respect for Ray Lewis the football player. Whatever he did outside football, I totally respected him as a football player and rooted for him to go out with a 2nd SB win.

Lots of different ways to enjoy football, and no one is wrong.

Myself, when Miami's defense stops the other team I'd say I'm satisfied, or pleased. When the offense scores a TD, I'm through the roof. Just how I work and my emotions, logical or not. I'm the same way with baseball, and hitting vs pitching.

Even if his off the field record was clean, I hated Lewis as a player. Absolutely the opposite of the kind of guy I root for.

    That might be it.

Myself a bust is a player who totally washes out on the team that drafted him. Since Ginn completely failed as a Miami Dolphin draft pick to the point where they traded him away for a 5th round pick, which has little value, I consider him a bust.

I don't think Jordan is that much of a worse player for the Dolphins as Ginn was. Heck, they could have gotten a pick for him after his rookie year and moved on. They could not have gotten that for Ginn.

Ginn has rebounded and had a fine career. No one is going to confuse him with a great NFL player. He isn't on Alex Smith type level of rebound. He is a decent NFL player. Just a terrible draft pick for the Miami Dolphin.

The draft is where we use the word "bust."

On the topic of Ted Ginn being a bust, here's my view...

You're only a bust if you are the reason you failed.

Ted Ginn has had the NFL career many thought he'd have. He was a guy who was taken way ahead of where he should've been.

He's not a bust. He's done exactly what his college film promised he'd do.

He was over-drafted. That doesn't make you a bust as much as it makes the pick a bust.

Already hearing how Peyton did enough to win the game for the Broncos even though he played like crap. Fun.

Figured Denver would win. Would have rather seen Carolina win. Either way though, I just wanted a good game.

What we got though, was a pretty ugly game. A defensive game all the way around, but still, a bad game. I say that simply because I believe Carolina really just handed Denver this game. Fumbleitis all over the place for Carolina. Cam showed... IMO... he hasnt grown all that much. He's gotten better, but once Carolina got behind, he's the same old Cam. Crawls into his shell. It didnt appear he showed it as much in the past, or maybe the cameras didnt catch it, or CBS declined to show it... but he didn't seem like himself. No fun. No energy. No fire. No intensity. No leadership. His OL couldnt hold off that pass rush, and he wilted. Surprised he didn't use his legs more. Seemed to just stand in the pocket alot... That being said... that Denver defense, is damn impressive.

The officiating tonight... pretty bad IMO. That ruling on the Cotchery catch/no-catch... Brutal. Missing the offsides on the missed FG. Terrible. Couple debatable calls on late hits on Cam that weren't called... The holding on Norman in the endzone... questionable. Seemed a bit slanted to be honest.

As I said, didn't care much who won this game. I was good with seeing Peyton walk off and retire as a super bowl champ. I was also good with the Panthers winning. I wanted a good game, and this just wasn't that really.

What bothers me... Peyton will get alot of the credit... but he didnt really do much tonight. It was all on that D. For his sake, and his legacy's sake. I hope he retires. The other thing that really bothers me.. the credit Elway gets for this... He didnt build this team. He's added a few free agents, sure, but the base of this team was built before him really.

Edit: Cam's presser after the game... perfect example of what Im talking about earlier... like.. I get it, it's the super bowl. Biggest game of your life. Huge momment. You lost, it's upsetting, but don't be a dick... answer the questions... learn something from the guy that just "beat" you. Don't walk off the stage like a crybaby...

The blueprint was easy for Denver tonight... Hit Cam. Get ahead early on a team that hasn't been down this year, and when they've been down with Newton at the helm, they've struggled because he can't handle it... and you're going to win with a defense like that, in that situation. He's still got alot of growing up to do.

Big lesson for Cam... if you want to celebrate, and talk about how great you are when you're winning... that's all fine... but you're going to face the criticism for that constantly, if you can't handle loosing graciously.

Manning will get credit when it comes to things like his HoF induction, but in reality it will be remembered for the Denver D, just like we recall the Ravens defensive domination, or the Bucs.

Disagree on Cam. His team let him down. Hard to have fun when your line can't block and your RB's keep turning the ball over. They actually mentioned he had several wins from behind this year. He had a really bad game, but I think they just ran into an all-time defense helmed by perhaps the best DC in recent memory. Can't fault him for the game, certainly not as the main issue.

    Wade Phillips for MVP.

I noticed in the first quarter when Denver scored that TD Cam was on the sideline and it looked like he already knew they were going to loose. At one point I thought he was going to cry. Seriously. That look remained throughout the game. Just didnt have any fire. Seemed like he was on auto pilot. Almost seemed intimidated. JMO
