There are more then a few "mays" in that story.

Is it a study with controls, or is it subjective?

It's a Crossover Study, so the patients were their own control subjects. This means that they were given the test substance and the placebo with a certain "washout" period inbetween so as to not let any affects from one test affect the other.

I'm wondering with how much ease these patients picked out the THC-less placebo. That and in what order they were given could have a huge effect on the outcome.

Let terminal patients have what ever drug they choose, that's just being humane I think. HIV has turned into a long term chronic condition with a fairly long life expectancy, giving them pot for it ain't going to hurt anyone.

I agree, but as usual, I don't think this "push" is about them.

It's all part of the argument that it is a valuable resource for humans, that's fair I think. I rarely smoke the stuff anymore and I can't handle the strong stuff at all. I live in BC so we have some strong stuff up here, I usually smoke leaf not bud now though. I used it a little heavier when I quit smoking cigarettes and it helped alot that way, kind of like methadone to a heroin addict, I still got the smoking action thing. Hemp is a pretty good cash crop if you think about it, and if they can make plastics out of it you could be on the short road to oil independence.

I would also like to point out that Marijuana is federally listed as a schedule 1 drug. One of the requirements for this scheduling is that it has no recognized medical use. Not that it really matters anyways, because it doesn't meet the other 2 requirements either.

Theyve known marijunana to be less harmful and it has medicinal uses since Nixon signed the Controlled Substances Act. It was all political and predicated on bs and controlling the population. Weed was used by the hippies and the lefties whom Nixon saw as destructive to law and order, and the CSA was used to jail them. Now its used as a tool against minorities and others who choose to expand their mind or relax.

I agree with this sentiment somewhat. I think marijuana should be legalized for medicinal purposes if anything taken down from being a schedule one drug. I however, do question the motives of people who bring up some of these studies, if you want to get high just say legalize it because you want to get high, no need to wheel the sick and dying into the court room IMO.

Whether or not marijuana is legal makes no impact on me deciding whether or not to smoke marijuana. It simply makes it more difficult, more expensive, potentially dangerous, as well as puts me at risk to be thrown in jail with actual criminals.

When I post a thread like this it is not to say "marijuana should be legal because of this article". It is more so to point out the fallacies of the current prohibition we are under.

You shouldn't be questioning my motives for posting this, IMO what you should be questioning are the motives of those in power when marijuana was made illegal in the first place. ;)

The Pineapple Express ads are quite entertaining in this thread.

Anyway in all seriousness I don't see why marijuana isn't just legalized period. When you consider things like cigarettes and alcoholic beverages I don't see how marijuana is any worse. Personally, I think this is a problem because marijuana is so easily grown and the government can't really make a profit off of it's sale. Plus I take the utilitarian approach if I'm not hurting anyone else then what is the problem (being high is comparable to being drunk so I don't see how the you could kill someone driving argument). Cigarettes/Alcohol = legal then marijuana should be legal. Plus at the very least medicinal marijuana should be legal.

LOL at the Pineapple Express ads

If it eases the pain of the dying, I dont see why they dont let them smoke it.
