Daniel Bryan announces his retirement on Twitter...and will elaborate tonight on Raw.

    Hope it's a work.

Gonna suck to lose his talent.

I don't think he'll ever wrestle in the WWE again. The WWE doctors simply won't clear him even though Bryan has gone to at least 2 other doctors that gave him the ok to continue to wrestle, bottom line is the WWE, especially now that it's a public company and with all the stuff going on with concussions, simply can't risk putting him back into the ring to see him get hurt further or worse.

It completely sucks but I get it from the WWE's side of things. I'm sure they'd love to put him out there in the ring and have him wrestle and make money for them but just too much risk and it's really for Bryan's own good. He's had a great career and I'm sure he's made enough money to live a normal lifestyle. I'm sure he'll get a back office job from the WWE either as an agent or trainer if he wants it.

Of course I can just as easily see him going to ROH or Japan once his contract is up too.

He had tests done recently where experts looked at his entire brain and supposedly, the results were alarming. Hence the retirement.

I do not think this is a work. He is doing the right thing in hanging it up.

Good farewell speech from Bryan last night. Sucks but good for him to get out now before any further damage happens. Hopefully he'll be back from time to time.

Daniel Bryan's forced retirement is a story told over and over. No Insurance company will insure his contract, and the WWE won't let him wrestle under a waiver. Good for the WWE.

In the 80's, Vince would have let him get brain damaged for ticket sales.

Yup absolutely. The one positive thing that came from the Benoit mess was that the WWE really started to take injuries, especially anything concussion related, and PED testing seriously.

Maybe it's just me but watching back some of those hardcore matches in ECW and during the Attitude Era seeing guys take unprotected chair shots to the head isn't much fun anymore.

Hopefully the next move the WWE bans is the flying headbutt.

The Titus O'Neil suspension is odd for many reasons.

1: No idea what Titus was thinking, grabbing McMahon like that. The cameras were still rolling and they were in front of the live audience. Whether it was in a playful manner or not, it was just stupid.

2: 90 days on the suspension? Really? Dude is one of the good guys and gives the WWE a LOT of good press with his work with kids, Father Of The Year, etc., etc. Taking away a Wrestlemania payday is pretty damn harsh. 30 days would be harsh, but fair, and presumably drive home the point to other talents not to do what he did. I am hoping they wil reduce it.

Agreed on both counts. I actually saw it live on The Network but didn't know what the heck was going on or who Vince was pushing away but it was just strange. He'll probably just end up with 60 days and have to job to Bo Dallas a few times on TV.

So what are the Vegas odds that CM Punk never has a UFC fight?

  11. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

At this point, I think UFC may look to cut their losses with Punk. The time to strike was within the first four or five months of Phil signing. It has now been delayed multiple times and over the course of years, not months. Any interest people had, has substantially waned. Plus, Punk has been quite a dick to reporters and journalists who dare ask him questions about wrestling (like he has any other interesting stuff to talk about that people are interested in).

I liked Punk as a wrestler, but the dude is such a jerk that I am rooting for whoever steps in the octagon with him.

Agree completely. It will be interesting to see what the buy rate is if/when Punk ever steps into the cage. The hype has to be pretty much dead by now and the causal fans (wrestling and UFC) probably forgot about him by now.

As a wrestler I liked and respected him a lot but as a person he sounds really bitter and unlikable in real life unless you're part of his inner circle. I would have loved to have a journalist ask him what his thoughts are about how he had such an issue with part time wrestlers like Rock, Triple H, Brock and Undertaker getting the top spots for one off matches and compare it to him with absolutely zero MMA fighting experience getting signed to a big contract to UFC and thus taking someone else's spot and how that's different. The guy is a pretty big hypocrite.

According to Meltzer, right now Strowman is scheduled to win the Andre Battle Royal at WM and pushed hard as a monster heel and will be put in a program with Roman Reigns for the WWE title and then face Brock at Summer Slam.... Yawn.

Also Titus' suspension got reduced to 60 days.

I spent about an hour you tubing my WWF glory days....Taker was dead, Austin drank beer on stage, Triple H was in his prime, Kane was masked and the writing was on point.

    What the hell happened?

There is still some good on WWE but you have to skip about 70% of the show...

The womens division has never been more dull, i dont even care to watch those matches. Some of the divas are definitely hot but there is a sipence when theyre on the ring, you can hear a pin drop.

Tag team division is pretty lame... Dudley boyZ return was suppose to somewhat revitalize it. Some people like New Day, I think theyre as boring as it gets. Their personality is boring, not funny, the unicorns are stupid. If they adopted a Harlem Heat (booker t/stevie ray) personality instead i would have liked that more.

Wyatt Family is the only thing Keeping tag matches relevant.

E ery now and then Triple H or Y2J have to wrestle to keep people from tuning out.

They need to focus more on developing characters. Aj Styles looks like an upcoming star, Neville is underutilized.

I don't have a problem with Strowman winning the Andre Battle Royal. It actually makes a lot of sense. Especially if the last three guys are him, Harper and Rowan. That could actually be pretty interesting.

Is he ready to be the big monster heel going into Summerslam? Probably not, but having him win that battle royal is the proper way to start a push for someone of that size and ilk.

I don't have an issue with him winning either. It makes perfect sense plus who else should really win it? Unfortunately I doubt it does anything for him as the last two winners (Cesaro and Big Show) didn't get any type of rub from winning and the announcers/writers basically forgot about the win after 2 weeks. Of course I can just as easily see Kane winning it because why not right?

The issue I think is pushing him into a spot too fast when he's no where near ready (haven't they learn their lesson with Reigns yet?). The guy can only do one move which is hugging another wrestler and Vince expects him to be a credible threat and in the main event picture all summer long. Those Reigns/Strowman matches are going to be an absolute train wreck. But hey I'd love to see Brock throw him around the ring for 5 minutes, that would be fun.

Meltzer is reporting that Kevin Owens has been pushing hard to be the Undertaker's opponent but keeps getting turned down. Meltzer has no clue who Undertaker's opponent will be.

Honestly I really can't think of anyone else who would make sense but Owens. There's really no one on either the heel or babyface side that would match up well against him, except for maybe Ambrose?

  24. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

I wouldn't mind them putting Ambrose up against Brock at Wrestlemania. They have a foundation for that story line now, obviously.

I kind of want to see Owens vs. Zayn or Styles at WM. Those would be better matches, although I understand the appeal of wanting to be up against UT at WM, from Owens' perspective.

I sort of think a tag team match of UT/Kane vs. New Day would be an appropriate match to have. Brothers of Destruction win and maybe both ride off into the sunset together? You could even have them win the titles, and then vacate them and have a tournament with The Usos, Dudleys, New Day, Social Outcasts, Lucha Dragons, Goldust/Truth, Enzo/Cass, League Of Nations.

Actually, the more I think of that, the more I like it.

As for Strowman, the rumors are that he has a move set that is vastly more than we have seen on camera so far, but who knows whether that is true or not.

Yeah I think I'd much rather see Brock vs. Ambrose than Brock vs. Bray. I think even in losing Ambrose can come out looking like a star if they have Brock keep beating him down only to have Ambrose coming back and asking for more punishment. Maybe try to create a combo of Mankind/Rock from the Rumble in 99 and Austin/Bret from WM13. There the beating is so bad but guy refuses to give up.

I'd much rather see Taker in a singles match, if he was going to be in a tag match with Kane, they should have saved the Wyatt Family feud for WM.

I think Styles and Jericho are scheduled for a WM match. And I'd like to see a New Day vs. Enzo/Cass match at WM. I think the crowd would be really hot for it.

And I don't believe the Strowman moveset rumors. The guy is green as grass and was pretty bad in the Rumble. He could barely sell clotheslines being given by Brock.

Unpredictable? I'd be shocked if the Wyatts don't interfere to mess with Brock and Reigns is going to pin Ambrose to win the match. Vince wants Reigns to get his WM moment so bad that ratings, crowd reaction, merchandise sales be damned.

I do think taking the IC title off of Ambrose was the wrong move though.

  28. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

Ambrose losing the IC title makes sense if they are prepping him for a run towards the top. You have to have him shed the secondary belt.

Didn't understand the main event of last night at all. As in, I don't know why it was a main event.

Are you kidding about the main event? Ummmm have you never been to a WWE event before? You have to be there live to appreciate just how big the Big Show really is. Especially with those pan size hands. And Strowman is Vince's new pet so.... I got nothing. It made zero sense for that to be the go home segment to a PPV.

As far as Ambrose, you're correct about the reasons why he possibly lost the belt but there's no evidence he's being prepped for a run at the top. It's the Roman Reigns show from now until the WWE is hit with another losing profit year. My guess is he lost the belt because there weren't going to be any title matches on the card outside of maybe a tag team title match (which I'm guessing will be on the show) and the WWE wanted to have some titles defended as the US title is on the kick off show. I wouldn't be surprised if Ambrose won the IC title back at WM in a ladder match or something similar.

Wade Barrett is leaving the WWE in June when his contract is up. The reason is he's no longer having any fun. Honestly it's probably for the best he leaves and goes somewhere else like Japan for a bit. The WWE really had nothing for him in a long time and for whatever reason killed the BNB gimmick when it was finally getting hot.

I seriously hope you're right but I think there's a better chance Steve Austin wrestles at WM32 against Shawn Michaels and Daniel Bryan in a Triple Threat match with Hulk Hogan as the special guest referee.

Vince has put all his eggs in the Roman Reigns basket and he's hell bent on making him the next Cena no matter what.

The entrances between those two guys would be incredible but yeah I don't know if they'd want to debut Balor at WM against Undertaker. The best time for Balor to debut is probably the night after WM. I'm guessing it will be a former WWE superstar on a Legends contract or something like that. Or hey maybe Sting finally if he's healthy enough. Batista is an interesting name too, not sure what his movie schedule is like though.

There has been Raw episodes this year better than fastlane

First, let me start with Edge.. Return your HOF ring.. I dont know what the heck that was that segment was beyond ******ed.

The divas matches were boring as usual. This division is dead. They should probably just make them become ring girls like the UFC. Sorry if that comes off sexists but jeez.

I thought Brock's performance was great.. I think the WWE oversells what a "beast" he is, resorting to handicap most of the match. so I guess Brock will always be unbeatable 1 on 1 just like Goldberg. Roman Reigns im just not a fan of.. Dean Ambrose did a very good job.

I thought the best match was the intercontinental championship match, the finish i wasnt that impressed with but the match was very good.

Aj Styles and Jericho was sloppy, 3 matches in 4 weeks, we all knew what was going to happen. Jericho rarely wins as a matter of fact his smackdown win was the first match he won since forever ago. He, Triple H, Big Show and Kane are all going to put guys over.

Im actually shocked the Wyatt family lost against the 3 has-beens.

Couldn't disagree more on the Divas division. It's just a four woman division (Charlotte, Sasha, Paige, Becky). There is little talent, but the talent there is, is great.. But Charlotte is good champion and when Sasha starts her feud with Charlotte, it should be good.

Disagree on AJ Styles and Jericho. That was a fitting conclusion to their series, and their matches have all been great.

The only issue I had with Fastlane was that the Wyatts lost to the "Big Guys". I really don't get why, especially if Brock's WM opponent is going to be Bray, you should keep that group strong. Overall I thought it was a fine C level PPV. I did think the AJ/Jericho match was sloppy at times but told a good story and now AJ moves onto possibly Owens for the IC title. I did enjoy how the WWE put a Divas match in the opening slot and the match delivered. There's nothing wrong with the Divas division, the WWE just needs to give the matches more time and tell better stories with them.

I think it's time to just sit back and watch the train wreck that's going to be Roman Reigns vs. Triple H at WM. I can't think of another wrestler that the WWE continues to push and push and push at the top slot that's just not over with the crowd and can't carry a match. Let Vince get his wish and have Roman Reigns get his WM moment in winning the WWE title for the 3rd time since November and when ratings continue to drop and Reigns' merchandise doesn't sell then Vince will wake up and realize the Roman Empire was a mistake.
