LOL @ this comment coming from the guy who on the previous page was boasting how Tanne won vs Wilson head to head.

Thats the thing when trying to compare what Denver did to those teams (and Qbs) its more than just the pressure...their schemes were flawless, the Lbs were all over the field, they have 3 upper echelon CBs, the way TJ Ward and #26 (name escapes me) performed during that run was incredible also.

So yes, Ryan has the disadvantage of having a bottom teir pass blocking OL....but what Denver did was much more than get to the QB so I see no parallel in that comparison.

And Im hoping for the best also, anyone who pays attention to football recognizes his situation has been bad. But, to me I also have seen a QB who has his own issues to work on too.

The sad thing is when Tannehill does make the leap to franchise QB under Gase, these guys won't be allowed to enjoy it. They have invested so much time in their hating, they won't be able to take it back. They will be forever ridiculed.

    I can't wait.

-sigh- I wasn't boasting anything. I'm not the one acting like 'wins' are a QB stat like a ton of people here do. If you're going to try and tell me wins/playoff appearances/superbowls rest solely on the QB, then why do head to head matchups between them mean nothing? ( I don't think they mean anything AT ALL, but that's obviously escaped you while you quote things out of context. It was quite obviously tongue-in-cheek, you dunce. )

I've been thinking about this for a long time now. If somehow we get a staff and a roster than can utilize RTH to his fullest, I think we'd see some amazing things. We've seen some unreal flashes out of him when he's had a solid gameplan and slightly average line play. The amount of crow that would be eaten would be at an all time record high. But he's been so hindered it's really hard to know if we will ever get anything more out of him. It's hard to not be jaded at this point.

at the end of the day, my line of thinking is that several years ago when we drafted RTH, if you were told:

-how abysmal the defense was going to be
-how clueless the coaching staff was going to end up being (in damn near every facet of the job)
-how historically garbage the o-line was going to be (with Tannehill being the most sacked over his career, and almost breaking the all time season record)
-how predictable & lopsided the play calling was going to be.
-how he would be chained into the pocket and not even allowed to audible.

What kind of stats would you honestly think you were going to see from him as an individual? My first guess wouldn't have been anything CLOSE to things like:
    4200 yards 24-12 62% comp
    4000 yards 27-12 66% comp
    4000 yards 24-17 60% comp

But I guess that's just me. I really don't know what to expect from him, but I don't think he's anywhere near as bad as some try to make him out to be. I definitely don't think he's going anywhere any time soon. That's something i'd be willing to put money on. The team has way too many holes to even bother with QB at this point.

Well, there ya go... name a QB (or person) that doesn't have their own issues to work on. Brady can't move, Drew compensates for his arm/height, Romo has a plate in his 3 time injured collarbone. Big Ben is a big freak... but he often gets hurt now. The dang MVP of the league needs to work on his accuracy and decision making (during and after games) and each relies on the OL, defense and rest of the team to 'help' them to success.

    Absolutely. No question.
It would be worth it for double the price, atleast IMO.

I will say I haven't been able to be back there in a while, but while I was there it was great. Especially around FA periods and when the offseason is at its slowest.

They forced Newton to stand in the pocket and deliver and he couldn't. His accuracy was for shat and his receivers were having to climb the ladder. He actually tied a SB record for over thrown passes. Not a SB record you want your QB to have... Part of excuses given for Cam sulking and leaving the stage during his presser was his over hearing the Broncos defenders bragging about how their plan was to make him try to beat them from the pocket as they didn't think he could. His accuracy has never been very good to start with...

Agree on the last point. Most of the arguments on this board aren't over that so much as the way it's usually expressed...

Does this forgive Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder, Mark Sanchez, etc etc?

There is much more to it than whats being stated, you guys are making comparisons that you could take any qb and insert their name and make it appear as if the only difference between X and Tom Brady is Y.

And you are using Qbs who have performed at a high level for a long time as examples of why Ryan needs to work on things?

Well, the play-calling left alot to be desired. We know that problem. The read option was never a factor... and that was one of the worst 'pockets' ever. Maybe a hotpocket.

What??? Y'all were the ones comparing RT to those guys. My first sentence was compare RT to their FIRST 4 YEARS. Were they perfect then? No... they are not even 10-15 years later.

I certainly wouldn't compare Ryan to any of those guys as it really isn't fair to him. Those guys while flawed were going to be franchise QBs and you could see that in their play regardless of any stats.

Right... why didn't you tell the Dolphins that about Drew? How about Brady? Could you tell? What was Romo doing his first 4 years?

It is not fair to act/post like RT stole your wife/girlfriend either.

?? Huh?? I have acknowledged he has been at a disadvantage?? Do you want me to get on my knees and kiss his *** and free him from all his wrong doing? He is a flawed QB with flawed surroundings, period. Can those flaws be fixed? time will tell....and if that doesn't work ??When he is a cap casualty this time next year, hopefully he takes his fan boys with him to that team too.

Huge difference in recognizing poor surroundings and simply freeing him of all responsibility because of this. Unfortunately many don't recognize that you can have one without the other.

    Thephins.com Dictionary:

Deep Pass/Ball-n : a pass which is thrown by a number of yards the current Dolphin's QB completes less than the average. If the current QB is good at throwing the ball 40 yards but not 60, then a deep pass/ball is now 60 yards.

Win/Loss Record- n: a QB stat that measures the greatness of the QB only when talking about a win and/or non Dolphin QBs. Basically, if a loss happens with a Dolphin QB it is his fault and the Loss goes on his permanent record, if he wins then the victory was in spite of the QB and is therefore anecdotal.

Cherry picking- v: if Poster A uses a number of stats, but not the specific one stat Poster B wants, then Poster A is cherry picking. ANTONYMS: "cherry picking" used in any other setting

Why do you say 'fan boys'? I am a football fanatic... I watch alot of football and have all my life.

    Answer a couple of questions:

Do you think other team's FO look at the dolphins and think they better get rid of RT if they want to be any good.
Do you think they are wanting any of the dolphins OL in case they happened to be released or are on the trade block?
How about from the dolphins defense? Is Suh on the market? Is Jones?

Do you think other teams DCs are thinking about how they are going to beat up on a flawed QB... or take advantage of a very weak OL? Do you think they fear the dolphin running game? Do you think they respected the dolphin play calling or dedication to that running game?

Do you think the other team's coach is more worried about playing the dolphins O or D?

Do you think it is a difficult decision for the other team's OC to decide whether to run or to pass against the dolphin D?

Would the Texans, Rams, Browns, Broncos, Jets, Cowboys and maybe the Chargers want to have RT on their team... I'll get this one = yes.

Would they want to exchange their D for ours?

    Would they exchange OLs?

Will L.Miller and O.Vernon thrive somewhere else?

Did they want Philbin, the OC, the DC?

    Just curious.

You see, this is the fundamental problem with this topic.

I truly stopped reading at "do you think other FO's think we should get rid of Tannehill"

When have I suggested we need to get rid of Tannehill? How am I constantly lumped in with the people who want to move on from him now? I make it a point in nearly every thread to mention that Im HAPPY Ryan will get a year with Gase who has quite the resume working with Qbs?

There are people out here who realize the situation, still have hope for year 5 with Ryan, but also believe he needs to improve on some key attributes to be that Qb we are confident will perform well.

He IS NOT even in the top 5 of things we need to address this offseason, not even close. Yet, I have to answer questions that imply I think he should be cut or traded by noon tommorow.

    I mean WTF.

I think it's worse (or better) than that. If you look at this list of all QB's that started in the SB, with those in bold being HoF QB's, then exactly 41 out of 100 teams that played in the SB had a QB that's currently in the HoF starting for them:
    http://www.profootballhof.com/news/super-bowl-starting-qbs/

Add Brady and Manning as locks for the HoF and you have 51 out of 100 SB teams that have HoF starting QB's. And you know more than just Peyton and Brady among active QB's are going in the HoF. So really, a good majority of the time you have a future HoF QB starting for you if you make the SB.
