"Isn't subject to the same sort of criticism or vitriol that is normally associated with Tannehill"... I have noticed though that since Atlanta's mid-season melt down that articles like the one I linked previously are starting to pop up more regularly... and Andrew Luck now is getting more heat as well. Notable difference between Tannehill and Matt Ryan is that Matt Ryan hit his ceiling several years ago with a very good surrounding cast. We only know what Tannehill can do behind one of the worst OLs, with no balance and poor weapons. I think his best football is still ahead of him. The point of the comparison of these 2 in my mind was that if Matt Ryan (and even Mark Sanchez) was good enough to QB a team to a Championship Game, then so is Tannehill.
It doesn't matter anymore. The other side is so entrenched that if we won the SB next year, they'll say it was in spite of Thill, and they'll point to Manning's SB win this year as proof a team can win w/o a QB performing well. Thereby completing the circle of ridiculousness.
He is average. Lol. I watched every game this year and he is merely average. Yes, things around him are poor, but he doesnt raise the level of play of those around him either. He is an average QB till provem otherwise.
Poor average Brady couldn't either... and poor average Cam really stunk it up. They should have raised the level of play of their OL. Dang them.
No, see they both have accomplished things in the NFL that Tannehill hasnt evem come close to sniffing yet. They dont need to be defended in this, it doesnt take a genius to see both are way better QBs right now.
It seems to me your tryna paint Tanne at a top 10, and im sorry but that is soooo homeristic. Guy has accomplished jack **** in the NFL.
Brian Hartline, Devone Bess, and Charles Clay ALL had their best ever seasons with Tannehill at the helm... and in half a season of snaps, Parker accumulated 500 yards and 3 TDs this season. "Not raising the level of play" is a misnomer. And as I pointed out in post about the 1986 season where we had the #1 passing and scoring offense in the NFL - no matter how well Tannehill plays, it will not matter if we do not have a solid rushing game to run out the clock, or if the defense cannot hold leads, and/or gives up more points than we scored. Whether Tannehill "sucks" is average, above average, or very good, it's all just opinion at this point. We know what other playoff QBs have done and he's much better than many of those.
Name one award he has won? Name one major passing category he has won? Im leaving out 'team' things and just wanna know what this QB of ours has accomplished.
I think that is the problem- 'seems to me' You said he is average... I said not. That makes him above 16th I am trying to help you see things correctly... not make RT a top-10 QB. I could care less about a QBs rating... I want playoff wins and ultimately SB. If that takes a top 16 QB AND a not-rated 25 + defense and not-rated 28+ OL all the better.
Hate to burst your bubble, but Tannehill isnt in the top 16. Lol thats a joke. He is 17-22 in any other team forum except Phins forums.
Btw, im still waiting for someone to tell me ONE NFL award or major passing category he has won in any of the 4 years he has played...
If there was an award for QB toughness, Tannehill would've won that multiple times. The beatings that guy takes, still gets up and doesn't mentally crash like David Carr did.. impressive. Otherwise, his abilities are not far beyond average, in both directions depending on what we're talking about.
So we gotta make up awards now? Lol And I agree he is tough, but being tough doesnt make you a better then average QB.
I mean he's right on the edge really... In no specific order... Brady Brees Cam Rodgers Big Ben Russell Romo Luck Carr Palmer Eli Dalton Matt Ryan Stafford Alex Smith Cousins that's 16 right there that I have clearly above him...and some more that are debateable, Cutler, Bortles, Tyrod...I mean I guess you could move Alex Smith down to this group as well
I would be too with Roddy White, Julio Jones and Tony Gonzalez to throw too. Derp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Broke a couple of Marino records already. But I'm sure that doesn't count. Oh and had a perfect rated game. Something Dan never did. But that doesn't count either lol. Hate away young man. And go meet a girl, you are too young to be on here 24/7. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lol coming from the guy who has been here 4 months and thinks he knows everybody so well? Your a former poster who got banned, your not fooling me And you still never answered, what NFL award has he won? What passing category has he won? Stop dancing, man up, and answer the question.
And either can win us a SB, so lay off the Tannehill hate. He's young with pure upside. We have seen his worst and it's pretty damn solid!
See, to you, me calling Tannehill average (which he is) is "hate" but really, im just stating a fact. The sky is blue.. am I hating cuz I said the sky was blue? And he really isnt that young, Cam Newton is younger and Stafford is the same age.
"Average QB" is the only half objective phrase you've ever used to describe Tannehill and you use it in a negative connotation. Its obvious to everyone how you feel about him. Don't try to hide it because you'll just be a phoney and we have too many of those here now. Your brain won't even allow his surrounding circumstances to be factored in your "evaluation" of him. Now you're asking them to provide an individual award. If we put a solid team around him we may or may not see him lead the league in a passing category but who cares? He IS young as far as a developing QB. Not only in age but also in experience. He came into the league a little bit older than most and with less experience as a Qb.
'Average' should carry a slightly negative connotation when it comes to QB. It's really hard to be a consistent contender when you're quarterback is 'average'.
I have factored in his surroundings which changes drastically on a year to year basis, always trying to accommodate Tannehill, yet the same results from Tannehill himself.
An average + QB wins much of the time... if the rest of the team is worth anything. What kind of connotation does an end of league rating for an OL have? What kind of connotation does a bottom 5 defense have? What kind of connotation does crappy play-calling have? Only 7 of the QBs listed above even made the playoffs... does that sink them below average or are they living off the past?
Maybe factor in watching the dang game... and take off the blindfold when you do. and: when a play begins... watch something besides the QB.
How has it changed drastically year to year? The only drastic change was 2014 when we had a run of games where the oline played average instead of far below average......and Thill knocked it the **** out of the park. The only thing you've factored in is wins, awards and that time he must have stole your wallet.
Im talking about switching from a West Coast to a Spread. Im talking about going from Sherman to Lazor to Taylor Im talking going from New O-Lineman to new O-Lineman Im talking about bringing in new WR after new WR.
Im a strong believer that the statue in the pocket and lack of poclet presence by Tanne hurts our OL as well. Yes, Thomas and Fox are garbage but Tannehill sure doesnt help them at all either. I truly hope we are done passing the ball at will as if Tanne is a top 10 and we start running the hell out of the football. Tanne is a role player and cant carry on offense, we have tried.for 4 years now and its been unsuccessful.
And none of you still answered.the question... what accolades does he have? How many medals? Anywhere? Any Passing Categories? I already knew Fin D was gonna spin it cuz thats just what he does.
