Haha... run the ball? With who running and who blocking? Have you checked out our run-block ratings or are you looking up player of the week awards? When our run game WAS working we abandoned it... are you sure you watch the games? How are we passing like or QB is a top 10 QB... is that what Denver did in the SB? You are a trip, sir.
What award did Brees get this year? What award did Eli get this year? Brady? Rodgers- Hail Mary of the Year? Palmer? embarrass yourself in a championship game? Romo? Ryan? Carr? Awards are for a sissy. I will take wins every time... or above average . Heehee
I was merely saying that it's fair if he believes Matt is average to lump Tannehill there. Not saying I agree with him.
They all have accomplished more then Tannehill has while in the league. IN THE FOUR YEARS TANNEHILL HAS BEEN IN THE LEAGUE, WHAT ACCOLADES DOES HE HAVE? BREES HAS AN SB AND MVP ELI HAS 2 RINGS NEED I GO FURTHER? GET IT NOW?
You take wins? Your crediting a mediocre QB... who hasnt won ****... You are a walking contradiction, sir.
After all this, Tannehill is still average... And it is really funny watching how red-faced mad you guys all get at the truth of Tanne being average.
I have wondered why many knowledgeable posters here don't even reply to this stupidity... I am starting to understand. They must avoid this stuff like a plague.
Lol see, look how mad you are??? Tannehill is average, its ok, you can really tell who grew up with the spoon fed lifestyle around here.
Tanny is average. OR mediocre. However you want to say, he's in the 12-18 range. Is someone arguing he isn't?????
No. The argument is, and always has been, that Tannehill looks mediocre amidst all this dysfunction. That Tannehill could actually look average on this team is impressive. I mean, look at those predictive stats based on averages a couple pages back. Tannehill predicts closely with Matt Ryan and Andrew Luck, two QBs that most everyone says are much better than Tannehill.
He's not getting a pass though. He has performed, very admirably, and in key situations. When he craps the bed, he gets dinged for it as well. But you can look at his body of work and say, he's a QB that can win a lot in this league. And he has. Tanny is one you can project to do so, but he hasn't. Are there different circumstances, yes. But you're still projecting, vs Matt Ryan who played well enough to get into the Super Bowl. That's all. He was fantastic that post-season too. We haven't seen Tanny perform well in must win games. Can he later? Sure. He can. Anyone can. But you're still projecting.
Well, by a lot of measurements he looked out of the top 20 QBs amidst all that dysfunction. That's not average really. Could he be as good as Luck's 2014 with good weapons? You think he can throw 40 with a bottom 3rd run game? Not just yardage but ypc too. They were 22nd that year. And I forget if their oline was any good. No, I believe Luck is better. I'll give Luck 2016 before bringing him back down. Sure, you can project Ryan T to be as good as those guys but it's still a projection. Those guys can make a leap from their current spot (a la Dalton) and leave Tanny in the dust too.
Honestly I think a lot of people would...not sure I would at this point...but yea you can certainly make the argument.
A little too careless with the ball for me, and inaccurate. He's helped immensely by Hurns and really by Allen Robinson ... who we should have drafted instead of Landry by the way. But that's besides the point ... At this point I'd take Tanny and Hurns + Robinson. That'd be effing insane because Robinson is very QB friendly, snatching balls that have no business being caught.
You're looking at one season, where he really wasn't even bad, and making that determination, though. This is why I said most of the season that I really wanted to see Matt Moore in there, just to see what he could do, as I think most understand that Moore is what many people say Tannehill is. Average.
His numbers each season are almost identical to Tannehill's the past 3 seasons. Difference is his surrounding cast and his "cool" college nickname. This year was the first time Tannehill has had anything similar to the weapons Matt Ryan has had and Tannehill outperformed him while playing behind a terrible OL and with no ground game support. Each have thrown 75 TDs. Matt Ryan has thrown more INTs over that duration and their YPA is very similar. IF you're going to say that Matt Ryan is a QB "that can win a lot in this league", then you have to say the same thing about Ryan Tannehill. Atlanta's record the past 3 seasons is 18-30. Miami's: 22-26.
I don't think Matt Ryan is better than Tanne. He's shown it at times, but he's been in the league longer and at this point, they're about the same, though Tanne has a much higher upside due to his age and years in the league.
The casual sports fan, and most of the media, have short memories. Defense DOES win championships. Plunkett Rypien Dilfer Johnson Hostetler E. Manning McMahon Stabler Simms Namath Aikman (Brady-of-the-1990's) Bradshaw All of these guys are Super Bowl winners.
No one is mad that you think he's average. We are however, annoyed because of your rationale for why you think he sucks (let's be honest calling him average is recent development for you, as you've thought he sucked up until a few days ago) and the fact that you won't shut up about it.
Your mad cuz he is average. Your putting words in my mouth now, i never said he sucked, good luck looking for the post where I said that. You keep saying he is the best QB in football. (See, I can play this game too)
No, but it does indicate that you think he sucks, which is what i said. This is the moment, where you hang your head and walk away quietly.
It is always humorous how these convo's get out of whack...Now its Matt Ryan? Not sure if you guys realize this, but you have picked apart almost every top QB in football trying to focus on every negative part of their game you can. Be it Brady, Newton, Luck, Wilson or Matt Ryan. Do you see why it is so easy to just shake our heads and giggle at you? STOP for the sake of yourselves trying to find reasons Ryan is just as good as the top Qbs in football, all it does is discredit any point you try to make about RT. There isn't a GM in football that would take Tanny over Matt for the 2016 season.
Says you. It's funny, you have no proof, though. You claim this, based mostly on wins...although, in the last for years, Tannehill actally had more wins. Matt is a flashier name, I suppose, but when he hasn't had superior talent around him, he's actually been less successful than Tannehill. Not to mention, one of the biggest Tanne haters on the board disagrees with your assessment, and believes Matt Ryan and Tannehill to be basically the same: average.
Nope. Just pointing out, it's actually not the ones "defending" Tannehill who are trashing Matt Ryan.
You can have a low opinion on Matt and still recognize he is a better all around QB than Ryan...of course then someone will ask you for "proof" then you can counter for "proof" Ryan Tannehill is better than Blaine Gabbert. Then you have a circle jerk of idiotic topics to comment on.
Lucky for us Landry is pretty good but trading down and bypassing Robinson is a huge mistake. Imaging having Robinson and Parker assuming all else stayed the same. Damn.
No proof? Matt Ryan came very close to a super bowl and it wasn't Peyton Manning. They got that close based on his play. This is quite ridiculous. You can argue that you believe Tanny has a higher ceiling I won't change your mind. But today, Matt Ryan is a better qb and it's not close. Right now Kirk cousins has bypassed Tanny. That's where these discussions need to be. If he's a one year wonder or is legitimately better than Tanny. Is Derek Carr better? Is Bortles going to be better? That's where y'all need to be. Back off of Wilson and Ryan. Ryan ain't a lot higher than Tanny but he's higher
Sure it's really convenient to exclude his best season to do your calculation. I don't go year to year I look at their careers and Ryan has been successful. If GM can have any player he wants at any position but only gets to choose Ryan Or Tanny, for this year you think any would take Tanny? They all watched Him engineer a last minute comeback against Seattle to get to the NFCCG. They watched this offense with a paltry run game and meh defense get to the NFCCG. They had offensive weapons but the oline wasn't great and the defense wasn't great. Tanny can't make chicken salad out of chicken sheeyat. Which is fine not his fault. But can he make lemonade out of lemons? We're still waiting to find out.
I've stated many times that people need to stop pointing at Bortles, Cousins, etc, until they have multiple good seasons. I got *****ed at earlier in the thread for saying that Cam Newton needs multiple seasons like this one to be considered elite. Matt Ryan hasn't won jack**** since his team became average or below average around him. Sounds alot like Tannehill.
