Whoa to be clear here the injury prone stretch 4 line was meant about McRoberts - I meant he and Anderson were redundant.
Which one? The Birdman trade? The Hassan wanting to stay thing is tricky. Can you trust that Hassan will feel the same way in the summer as he does now? Do they have an understanding on what he will get paid? I'd have serious reservations about giving him anything close to a max deal, and he'll almost certainly get something around that.
Anderson is a much better shooter, though. McRoberts CAN shoot 3's, but Anderson is basically a specialist.
McBob would be pawned off in any deal. in Fact, if they can't pull a deal, they will likely give him away to Portland.
Been told that Cavs are trying to make a deal to land Channing Frye. NOW THAT would be the first really smart "complimentary" signing they make in 2 years. Funny thing is that I suggested it early today..and then....they try to pull it off!
Okay..here we go: Major Tradeable Assets: Goran Dragic (at a good number for a PG going) forward as compared to the probable deals others will get, like Conley, etc..) Justise Winslow (major asset, only available for a star in a large deal) Tyler Johnson (there is interest in the league for minor complimentary pieces) Luol Deng (valuable to a contender, Heat as a facilitator in 3 way deals) McBob (contract is valuable only as filler) Hassan Whiteside (the sweetner) Picks: 1st round picks in 18', 19', 20', 22', NONE of which they can trade. 2nd round picks, all are interchangeable and have no value this deadline.(they can trade 2021, and 2022) So their assets are as facilitators in making up salary to complete deals for good players on expiring deals, or they swing a deal for a complimentary piece. Options: Dump salary, prepare for 2016'. Make minor deals to improve what they have for this year. Complete a three way deal for a expiring player. Expiring Players: Mike Conley (they already failed to swing a deal, details undisclosed) Al Horford Dwight Howard Nic Batum Al Jefferson (injured) Ryan Anderson Jamal Crawford Eric Gordon Minor Deals: Omri Casspi Mirza Teletovic Marvin Williams Ben McLemore Gerald Henderson They got work to do. All of these guys are expiring.
Good, I want Cleveland to suffer with falling short. Anyone remember Gilbert telling the world that they will win a ring before the self proclaim king will?
WOJ BOMB: Cavs trying to get in on Channing Frye at last minute. So I break Cleveland Cavalier stories now? I'm good.
Get the feeling the Channing Frye sweepstakes will be as relevant as the Dunleavy sweepstakes Ainge "won" over Riley a few years ago
If the Heat can salary dump, and drop Dragic....and only take back Teague. Teague will be under contract for the next two years at $8mil per. That would be top 12 production at bottom 5 cost. Also opens up TWO Super Max slots. You reading this Riles?
Damn, that'd be amazing. That's Teague's contract right now?! Interesting... So are the Heat really trying to move on from the Dragic-Wade backcourt? Or is it more of an *if the situation falls at our feet* kind of thing? Cause I feel that if a solid offer comes in, we should take it. My hopes for that duo working out have dwindled a bit...but I wonder if the coaches think it could still be good. I was so pumped when we landed Goran too, loved his game.
For me, that would be the ultimate. Ideally along with Horford, though. I don't have much interest in Jefferson or Crawford. Jefferson has to be close to dropping off at 31 coming in as a HS player and playing a physical style. And Crawford isn't the super 6th man he once was. He's not too much better than Gerald Green, really. Section, where would you put the odds on these different types of deals? You think they make any move? Take a shot on an expiring good player? Add a complementary piece?
I know for a fact they are pounding the phones. A week ago, Goran was untouchable. Now, they are not hanging up the phone.
Its kind of funny how ive been hoping for a trade to make our team better and also because trades are simply exciting. Now i just wish we could go back to Bosh being healthy and keep the same squad.
Gonna stay positive and trust Riley. Whether he trades for Howard, or makes cost saving moves, i know he would have done the best for the current squad or future of the franchise.
I'm not a huge NBA fan by any means, the last team I was an avid fan was the Magic back when they had Shaq, Penny Hardaway, Nick Anderson, etc. when I was in grade school. I'm definitely a college basketball fan, and obviously a Dayton Flyer fan as my avatar would suggest, but I'll follow UD players and watch the playoffs. I wanted congratulate the Heat on trading for a UD alum and former classmate of mine, Brian Roberts. B-Rob, as he was known on campus, is the consummate pro. Of the 2004 freshman class at UD, I believe he was one of, if not the lowest ranked, of 8 recruits, hailing from tiny Delphos St. John's high school near-ish to Toledo, Ohio. He worked his @$$ off his entire career and ended up as UD's 4th all-time leading scorer behind legends Roosevelt Chapman and Don May, as well as Henry Finkel, and ahead of Jim Paxson (yes, that one). He's sort of a Jarvis Landry-type worker, but not as vocal, and he's certainly undersized by NBA standards; hell, he was undersized by Atlantic-10 standards. Anyway, he's a class act, and I'll be rooting for he and the Heat the rest of this season.
I heard Springsteen happened upon Riley and decided to hold an impromptu concert in order to keep the man around for a couple more hours.
It was actually St. John's high school in Toledo - and I only know that because I graduated from Delphos St. John's (in a class of 70 total people) and Brian Roberts would've been BY FAR the most famous person to ever come out of that school. Other than the guy in my profile pic, of course. In fact, being mentioned on this message board is like a top 5 coolest thing to ever happen to Delphos St. John's already.
So, just by way of summary, and to take advantage of the lull in action since for the All Star break - here's where things stand as March gets nearer and the playoffs are in sight:
you just know that all of a sudden...nothing will be going on and then......
Any truth to the rumor that we offered Whiteside + McRoberts to Boston for Brooklyn's first round pick?
trying to confirm it, but it is not likely I will. That trade is a bonanza. I would do that in a heart beat.
He is credible. But he can be credible and the story can be BS as well. That trade is almost too good to be true.
