Do you think we have any shot at landing a shooter? This is when I really wish he had landed a player like Anthony Morrow when we had the chance.
Beverly would be an interesting name. He'd certainly be an upgrade over Udrih, especially on D, and he is shooting 40% from 3. I don't know what Miami has that they'd want, though, and I doubt the Heat would want to dip into their cap space moving forward to get him.
Wow he's a worse defender than Love? (Also - I think Love's defense gets overblown a bit - he's realy bad, but people inflate it a lot. And if you watch all those Vines of his defense - it's normally him trying to cover Kyrie's guy and his own that makes him look dumb)
Just posted that to suggest that Frye and Love will NEVER play together. He will be a spacer for Bron without Love...and Love's exclusive backup. About 16 mpg. I think it will be effective. ....unless....Ty-Lue plays them together...then I guess we'll just share a laugh.
Trade Brian Roberts and a 2nd rounder and are now under Tax, and avoid Repeater Tax for first time in NBA history.
Two roster spots cleared. Players in buyout market it seems. I think the Casspi thing died with the TJ request. Gerald Henderson is still on table. So is McLemore.
If they did all that to get under the threshold, I can't see them adding anyone now. On one hand it's nice that they were able to do that, but on the other they will continue to be a flawed team and probably won't get very far in the playoffs, which is frustrating. Can they add a buyout and still stay under the threshold?
Heat have room to sign two players and not go into Tax. They reset the Clock on the repeater Tax, and by doing so essentially announce themselves as BIG spenders this summer and Not Next.
Albert Nahmad says they won't use the Mini-MLE because it closes in on the Tax. Buyout target date is 17 days away. If Heat add somebody, it will be through trade or through a Min. contract.
Key for Heat is to get Wade squared away early and turn his cap hold into salary. Until then it's going to be tough to know how much you have. And if we can somehow dump McInjured that would be even better
I wouldn't put it past them to work the trade market on draft day, to open up ultimate cap space either. They have been working this for 2 years, so I gotta think they have a plan.
Heat trying to dump McBob on Portland for Henderson is my VERY educated guess. McBob has proved worthless this trade deadline.
Not that we can count on McBob to be healthy, but what are the Heat going to do at PF if Bosh is out? I know Deng can play some 4, but after that you're going to have to start playing Haslem.
Seems like Houston and Atlanta got low balled for their expiring stars. Jeff Teague seems like he had a market but Atlanta thought it wasn't good enough.
Amar'e was mainly a PF for his career. Whiteside moves back in as a starter and Stoudemire becomes the 4 is my guess.
Barry Jackson reports, Heat are done. So the Casspi thing died when they asked for TJ, and the inability to pawn off McBob probably cost them Gerald Henderson, and maybe Foye.
Right. That's the starting 5, but how many minutes can we expect Stat to play, and that leaves the Heat with zero bigs off the bench other than Haslem. It looks like McBob is staying, though, so if he's healthy, I guess it's him.
Albert Nahmad says the Blazers deal is incomplete, and that Portland owes something. My guess is...cash?
I just don't see why the team let TJ cost them like this. I see a report out that he's not coming back at all this season. I don't think it's evident just yet but he has a knack for getting injured. Jaw, shoulder, I think I remember one or two other injuries along the way. I'd have cashed out on him at this point. You don't let a (possibly) injury-prone back up PG stop you from acquiring a sharp shooter who can help you in Free Agency. Kevin Durant isn't asking about Johnson's shoulder when we're pitching him. We may end up finding out that the bullet we had in Chris Bosh was actually a blank round if this ends up being too serious or he becomes hyper-cautious. We may still make the playoffs, maybe, but Johnson definitely isn't going to help us get there with that injury. Being a playoff team on the cusp I would have thought would be a big part of the pitch.
LOL! Philly gets another 2nd rounder in receiving Joel Anthony in trade. Gonna be awesome when they trade those 2,765 2nd rounders they own for Steph Curry. (second time I make that joke)
I mean...read between the lines. We had half a season to show that the 2015-16 version of the Miami Heat (Dragic, Wade, Deng, Bosh, Whiteside, Winslow, Green, TJ, McBob, Amar'e) could contend for an Eastern Conference Championship, and they didn't really show that. Structural problems persist. Then Bosh went down with blood clots AGAIN. Yeah there will be a push for the playoffs. They said that last year, then they didn't make it. Maybe this time they actually do. But in the mean time they're unloading what they can in preparation for big spending. Another attempt at a Big 3 equivalent off season.
