http://www.sbnation.com/nfl-mock-dr...ck-nfl-draft-database-2016-tendencies-experts currently the draft experts are nearly tied with us taking Hargreaves or Jack. Interesting pie charts compiling internet draft picks. Stanley is a distant third.
I'd be fine with either. Neither looks like another Dion Jordan, which is first and foremost what we have to avoid. I just hope coaches know how to use Jack effectively if we pick him. Hargreaves is plug and play, but Jack is this tremendous athlete whose production potential depends a lot on how coaches use him. Best thing about that link is at the end: "New England Patriots first-round pick was forfeited for Deflategate"
Im not worried about Jack, he'll just needs to be on the field.he figure it out, he can do it all, play all three positions im sure..
We're gonna hype both of them too much, and wind up losing out on both. Every draft seems so critical and crucial. I'd drop and take Vadaal Alexander, mid to late first and add a second rounder. It's too tough to guage value/risk at #8 beyond Jack and Ramsey. Is anyone sold that Joey Bosa is not marginally better than like 3 other guys at his same position? Same with O-line this year. No slam dunk picks past 5 or 6.
Are we seriously talking about taking Hargreaves at 8? This is a recipe for disaster. Eventually, Grimes will be gone, and when that day comes, Hargreaves will have to cover Marshall, Edelman, and Watkins. I think it would be crazy to draft a guy that early who cannot tackle and does not press receivers at the line. I have a man crush on Jack, but if he is not there, I would gladly take Stanley over Hargreaves. In fact, I could give you a pretty long list of guys that I would rather draft than Hargreaves.
I feel ya 38...Hargreaves is an unknown to me. All I have to go by is his youtube highlights and his reputation. The only time I watch college is draft season, lol. Heck, all of these guys have risks. I'd go Jimmy Johnson on the draft and drop to the second round...like twice!
I have to say, with respect, are you sure it's Hargreaves your talking about? He's known for his ability in press and willingness to defend the run, 2 of his biggest selling points, and the tape I've watched on him totally supports that, so I have to wonder if you aren't mixing him up with someone else by mistake?
Check out the film on this guy. He almost never touches receivers and just lets them come cleanly off the line. If you look at the form on his tackling, he has bad or lazy form way too often. If you have other tape on him where he is aggressive at the line or making solid tackles, I would love to look at it. On a positive note, you definitely see his speed and explosiveness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2tzI9O4vxs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Ts0bkksXCg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-HHKBoUubs
time to revisit the Dion Jordan option. never know, things change... new coach, new front office, new year. we have to stop throwing away draft choices & giving up so quickly, instead of developing the talent at hand. personally, I'd revisit Richie Incognito (at the right price) while we were reassessing going forward.
Need to stay away from guys that can't tackle....We cannot afford to whiff on this draft pick, whoever we get has got to be an impact player for us. I'd rather go with the safest bet/most talented over the sexy pick.
These you've provided you can clearly see he's not afraid to stick his head in there for run support, which is all you can ask of a CB, no one expects them to be LBs, and the games you posted do not have a lot of press coverage, mostly zone, and some bail, but there are other games where they play more press, and he does it very well when asked, I've seen him push WRs backwards off the line.
in that first game clip he was out of position and pushed all over the place. He came in often after the tackle was already complete to make it look good.
Finster, do you have a link to footage where he is aggressive at the line? I would certainly be open rethinking my evaluation if the tape backs it up. I have seen a lot of footage to support (in addition to the links provided) that shows that he really is not aggressive at the line. Based on everything that I have seen, it appears that a lot of his stock is based on his speed, agility, and acceleration. All of these qualities certainly give him playmaker abilities, and I like that; however, I am concerned that there are certain qualities he lacks that could make him a real liability within the division (we face a lot of big, strong receivers). Considering the division that we play within, Ramsey's measurables and skill-set is a much greater fit. Unfortunately, I do not think he will be on the board when we are drafting, but I think he gives you guys an idea of the type of corner (Ramsey may actually be more suited for safety) that we should be looking to draft.
I've just recently watched a lot of tape on him, so I'm not going back to root through it all again, lol, however his speed is what I'm concerned about, he doesn't seem to be a burner, he has excellent quickness and body control, but I'm looking forward to seeing what he times at the combine, his speed is the only thing that worries me, he could be a better version of Grimes imo, but if he times over 4.5, I'd pass on him in the 1st.
You perfectly state my concerns. He struggled with bigger, stronger guys which is who we will face most often. Ramsey is a much better fit and match up denial player. He is looking likely to be gone though. I would still consider DL. Both SB teams started from that solid foundation. Pass rush, pocket collapse, run stuffing.
If we draft Hargreaves at #8 our secondary will be reminescent of the Satan's cavemen wrestlers from Nacho Libre... Yup, between Hargreaves and Bobby McCain, our secondary would be looking like this...Need a Ramsey. That's basically it. None of our ideal picks will be there, and the number 8 spot is not the spot to roll the dice on a Ragland or Noah Spence. I say we drop and give us twenty. Plenty of good prospects at our positions of need. Let's face it, we need quality yet inexpensive, and a lot of it. Extra second rounders could clean up this year.
