Glad to hear. Ever since Ryan took over at QB, I no longer cringe at every drop back expecting an int. God that was a very long era that I got ill whenever I saw our QB drop back. Like him or hate him, he doesnt throw many interceptions, which makes the viewing a lot more pleasant.
Jesus Christmas these guys height weight size yaddaa yadda if that was the case we wouldn't have had Zac Thomas, Brent Grimes and plenty of other players. How about this you scout Ball Players.. Kids with Heart and love for the game, men that respect the game and are not children, and can play the game.. Size don't matter but the heart does!!! What we need are players not stats..
Of course those things are very important, but you get more of that in the interviewing process, etc. There's a lot that goes into the process. This is just one step.
To be fair, Zach was drafted in round 5 b/c of his size/speed - not bec of productivity. Even Jimmy recognized that size/speed matter. And, to be fair, for every Zach Thomas, there are a 100 5'10, 220 lb 4.8 40 LBs who don't sniff an NFL roster. You can't spend a first round pick on a guy like that so he gets ranked lower. This doesn't mean they won't draft a player like Zach, it simply means that all else being equal, a player with prototypical size/speed is going to be favored over one without it. So, a 6'1, 245 LB who runs 4.45 like Patrick Willis will go in round 1. As the rounds go on, then smaller guys will be more draftable commodities.
Well... from what I have seen of Jack he is all into it. Playing RB and LB has to take some heart... or something.
Who has the most heart? Kind of hard to determine. And should we just throw out facts like size and speed, which have years worth of evidence of some correlation with success, for some ambiguous measure like heart?
So they are going back to the system used before Hickey. In other words, they are going back to the failed Ireland system. Perhaps they need to look for players who know how to play the game. Whether these players have the metrics which fit their system or not. I think from everything I have read that Gase has a chance to be a decent HC in the NFL. I just don't had any faith that Tannebaum is the right man for the head job with the Dolphins. Gase can't only do so much with mediocre talent and I'm not sure Tannebaum knows how to draft the type of talent which is needed to get this team beyond mediocre.
That's worded strangely. It says: Miami is again using the "typing system" that was in place until Dennis Hickey was replaced as general manger by Chris Grier.... It was in-place until Hickey was REPLACED? So they stopped using it for a couple of months when Grier took over and then switched back to Hickey's system?
Dolphins going back to any scouting formula they have employed over the last decade + should make any fan cringe.
