Ty Lawson is scary. Do you risk him messing up the chemistry? I know you have the "Heat culture" which has a pretty good track record, but with Richardson playing as well as he has, I'm not sure I wouldn't prefer to just add another shooter like Thornton or Martin. Martin would probably be a very good get. He signing might actually be as good or better than Joe Johnson. As for cutting Green, that makes sense. He'll be relegated to the end of the bench with Johnson here. There is still a possibility Philly claims Udrih, though, right? If so, we wouldn't need to waive Green. That would be the best option all-around because while Green has been beyond awful lately, we've seen what he can do when he gets hot. He may never get another chance to show that, but it's nice to have on the bench, especially in the playoffs when you might need a spark.
Any word on Bosh, Section. Seems like there is zero information being given about him right now. If he could come back even for the playoffs, that would be HUGE. It could be tough because that would give the new rotation zero time to jell, but they may be able to win a round that way and ideally start to round into form for round 2.
Lawson certainly brings more baggage. Between Thornton and Martin, do you think we need a PG or a SG more? Or are they both good enough ball handlers and able to push the pace? I really haven't watched Martin this year so I know nothing about his game. His 3 pt numbers are good. How is his D? I'm trying to figure out who would seem to be the better fit.
Neither Martin nor Thornton have been good defenders lately, but hopefully they would improve to average by playing in our system alongside guys who can really guard. I prefer Martin between the two: smooth stroke and he gives you a little more natural ability in the lane off of close-outs. Martin's just a little ballhog-y or a black hole, wouldn't call him a good passer. Lawson's a tough call. Seems like a lockerroom cancer. But if you want someone to push the pace with Winslow and JRich off the bench, he's a guy. When he's on, he's a one-man fast break. One of the most exciting guys I've seen in person at a college game at UNC...he's a blur. Gotta straighten out his attitude though.
Just for reference here are the Splash Brothers on open or wide open threes: Klay Thompson is 132 of 320 (41.3%) Steph Curry is 212 of 432 (49.1%)
he wants to play, and the Heat think he can play this year...but Doctors, Team Insurance and the NBAPA all have a say before the Heat, and Bosh do.
The Heat just had the most efficient offensive game in the NBA this season, and set a team record for fg% with the highest fg% in their 28 year history. Joe Johnson is pretty good. Lol.
Anyone else sick of Steph Curry flooding your social media mainstream, tv, radio etc? I respect skill, but enough is enough with the fellatio-fest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That game was sex. How could the Heat think about letting Hassan Whiteside go? You don't uncover and develop a talent like him and then just let him walk.
Yeah, I said it earlier in this thread, but you simply have no choice but to give him the max at this point, and hope the money doesn't get to his head. Apparently Riley told Johnson he wants him to retire here, so maybe they go with what they have currently, and add another cheaper shooter in FA. I'm not sure how much they'd have left after giving the max to Whiteside.
And while we're on Whiteside: Remember when the Heat were "a better defensive team with Whiteside on the bench"? Guess that's not actually the case anymore, huh?
Actually..it is still...the case: Opp Off. Rtg. with HW: 104.5 Without: 102.3 it has gotten closer however..
Nope, I was sick of lebron flooding my social media stream. I'd so much rather watch Curry. I was reading today how he is having the greatest PER season in league history.
Gap will close even more if Spo keeps him with Winslow and Richardson so much. I'm intrigued by this lineup he went to: JRich-Wade-Joe-Winslow-Whiteside. On paper it seems too small, but Winslow had some surprisingly good possessions guarding Gasol last night. Kid is strong, man. We'll see if Spo keeps going to this group for stretches. We are firmly in one-big mode with Bosh out, and it's working; I wonder if that'd change should he return. I'm a little surprised Spo has kept the rotation to 8 and that McBob hasn't gotten any run, at least with Whiteside. (TJ will be the 9th man when he gets back, I imagine.) But I guess if Justise and Joe can do a decent job rebounding and defending bigger guys, there's less need for him. The offensive slack has been picked up across the board. Though I'm guessing we do see McBob and Green get some minutes in the coming week against this soft upcoming schedule. Joe's impact has been huge. Forcing close outs (especially late in the shot clock) and then hitting in the lane off of one or two dribbles. So many moves. Just knows how to get to his shot and when to move the ball. JRich seems to be finding his role on offense, and being able to play off of Wade and Joe has been big. It's a good fit for him to play with two ball-dominant guys, I think, at least at this stage. He looks best with that group I mentioned above, imo. More reason to continue staggering Wade and Dragic.
If Olivier Vernon was a Hassan Whiteside then he would have 15 sacks and 7 forced fumbles. He had half that number of sacks and zero forced fumbles not to mention a bunch of penalties.
I forgot that we might get TJ back at the end of this month. In my mind I had him out for the season. He was another shooter for us off the bench. I wanted to have two efficient 3 pt threats added so that we could have at least one available at most times. I wanted fewer shooting droughts and guys who could spread the floor with the starters and the second unit. Joe has been great so far, but I was pining for another addition. TJ's return eases my concerns a bit. Winslow's strength is amazing. There are so many times I'll see a big bang into him to create space before a shot and there's just no movement. He doesn't tend to elevate for the block, but the guy is a wall.
I agree, two different levels of players. OV doesn't have Hassan's level of impact. He racks up QB hits but doesn't seem to finish often enough. I don't see him as dominant or game changing. Other than some dumb penalties, not the comparison I would make. Miller would be a better argument. Miller gets limited carries and puts up top 5 efficiency numbers. You can at least argue that Miller with 20 carries a game and a competent line could put up league best RB numbers.
I am willing to have people crowdfund a season ticket for me! Also, keep in mind that the last professional sports game I went to was the Dolphins vs. Texans game. I am good for Miami sports! On a side note - I could tell I was watching offensive greatness, but I had no idea how great until the game ended. At one point it seemed like if we took a shot, we made it. That point was THE WHOLE GAME. Whiteside's free throws are on point now. It was all he practiced in the shootaround, from what I saw. Josh Richardson was killing it!!! Almost every player had a fantastic game. Ama're had like five blocks!!! That stuff came out of nowhere. Joe Johnson was amazing. Deng opened up strong for us. Every time the Bulls clawed back into the game we went full throttle and opened up a 10 point lead again. Great game!!! If we keep shooting 3s with this kind of efficiency, we are a very real contender.
And from out of nowhere, NBA highlights.
I'm imagining them at a two man shoot around, posting up against one another, LeBron going through an entire arc via stream of consciousness loudly cursing Riley and Wade for stealing Joe Johnson from him, cursing himself for leaving, "And where the **** did you all just pull Whiteside from all the sudden?!? You couldn't find him while I was there??" etc. Wade just silent the whole time, smiling.
and LeBron asking "so..those two rookies you got.....how are they...just ok?" and Wade replying "uh..they are better than just ok..." and not saying another word as he hits another mid range jumper.
Now they are posting pics of them working out, and videos of LeBron dancing in a weight room. Cavs fans just reached for their dollar shave club blades and wondering if they can remove the blade guards.
well..that does it. Spo gonna have a hard time finding minutes for Bron next year with Winslow taking all those minutes. **I am joking...but I am....shall we say.."wondering" what is going on.
