Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Dolphins are the clear front-runners to sign Williams. There’s currently a push to get a deal done Tuesday.

Assuming a reasonable contract it is a good move. He is a good player who got bogged down by Rex's scheme, he needs a new fit. Should be a buy low opportunity.

This is his way of atoning for the abuse he put down on Jonathan Martin and Tyson Clabo.

    I'd rather pay Miller.

Ugh. Well enjoy another free agency "win", Dolfans. I'd get excited but I'm too busy remembering how the Suh deal and all the free agency mega deals before him worked out.

Out before 27 posters tell me how this time is different...

Dude is 6'6" 292 and stays healthy. As a 4-3 DE, he is a proven commodity. I really like this move. If he signs for under 10 million even better. If he's super pissed playing against Rex twice a year, mo betta, mo betta, mo betta.

I know it might sounds stupid to ask but does Grier has no influence on fa signing right now? I mean i know there no evidence that he opposed on all these Maxwell, Kiko and Mario Williams deal but it just seems sooooo Tannenbaumlike...

I'm more inclined to think Grier is doing all the work and Tannenbaum is closing. I liked Hickey, but every move seems aggressive and savvy, and we haven't even hit free agency yet.

I think he's not worth that much considering he couldn't even play for Rex

This isn't anything like the Suh deal or other mega deals. It's one guy who probably signed for less than $10M a year. The Raiders and Jaguars have already spent much more.

Grier is just the fall guy for Tannebaum when this all blows up over the next couple of years. Ross will want answers as to why they are spending so much money and still can't make the playoffs or even have a winning season.

Tannebaum will blame it on the GM and the head coach and Ross will be senile enough to believe Tannebaum.

I saw today that now the Phins are far and away in the best cap situation in the AFCE. Man, I hope I heard that right. Ha!
