Didnt he struggle in the zone in Phi? Or did they run man to man like Seattle as well?

Maxwell played mostly zone in Seattle and too much man in Philly, he's not a good man player, he's a zone player, and a good run defender, so zone is just all around better for him, and I'm hoping Joseph is planning to play zone.

Would not mind a first round swap. We can still take an impact player, and that is a good range to start heavily considering DL folks like Robinson and Billings.

in seattle they ran cover 3, which is essentially using the sideline to the hashmark as your territory, so I may of misspoke in that regard..he does play man in a sense but releases once they go inside the hash's.so its not a true man to man, my bad..but they are so scheme diverse, so there was man to be played as well, not sure about philly, still digging.

Yeah, I just wouldn't mind it if they did. I got a taste of what it was like to have an above average safety again with Delmas. Not since Brock Marion have we had a savvy playmaker in the outfield. Louis Oliver was the only other one I've seen in Miami, and he wasn't even very good. It was just a spectacle collision waiting to happen.

I wouldn't mind Su'a Cravens at SS and put Reshad at free. That would be interesting. Miles Killebrew, maybe...Nahhh

Isn't there a Bengals safety we're supposed to be in the market for?

yeah both bengal safeties, lloka and Nelson, but so are a lot of teams..I wouldn't change what made reshad jones the beast he is, keep him where he was, in that sense Reggie Nelson plays a sweet centerfield..

Karl joseph is just someone you want on your team, he's good, he's angry, he's intimidating, and he's a leader of men with very very high character grades.

I'm still just getting to know these prospects. I swear the draft is my favorite sport. The NBA is over for me and the Dolphins is the last thing to go. I just love every aspect of it. Ever since picking teams for kickball in first grade, I like to think I can size up talent. I think that's a lot of fans, though.

I'm trippin' on Derrick Henry, atm...If Miller walks and we somehow acquire Henry, man. I would envision him catapulting us into a perennial playoff contender. He's 6'3 250 lbs that runs a 4.52 with a 37 inch vertical. He's a more dynamic Brandon Jacobs with natural pass catching ability and patience. He's a play action threat and it would be like having another TE for pass protection. Not to mention short yardage situations. He's gonna be taken after Elliot, but he's more unique and valuable, imo.

Looks like they played more man in Philly, which Maxwell was not very good at.

    Trade Breakdown - BleacherReport Video

"Why did the Eagles part ways with Alonso and Maxwell? Will the Dolphins' defensive acquisitions fit well in Miami? Watch Adam Lefkoe and Bleacher Report NFL Analyst Chris Simms discuss the Eagles-Dolphins trade in the video above."

TLDR - Maxwell could be a good fit. Alonso move "a little scary".

Since the draft pick or picks traded to the Eagles to complete this trade is unknown at this time, I will withhold judgement as to whether it is a good trade or not.

Personally I would rather build through the draft, since I really don't see the Dolphins being a legitimate contender for at least three more years. Unfortunately Tannebaum prefers to bring in veterans that other teams no longer want.

I suspect Tannebaum will leave the Dolphins in the same shape he left the Jets before he was finally fired. Well over the cap and one of the worst teams in the NFL.

All depends on the compensation and the salary cap implications. Need the details to fully judge. Everyone loves bringing home that new car but reality sets in once the first payment is due.

We are mostly always on the same page so I guess we will see tommorow what compensation is.Tannebaum has the potential to be just as bad as ireland from what I have seen during his time with the jets.
Not sure when this team will ever learn you build through the draft!

So does this mean it's a no on Jack? So we go after another vet instead of a young mlb stud to build around? Keep plugging holes on defense with worn tires... Bet we draft a offensive player first, probably Elliot from osu... It's all about making a splash

Id rather not swap firsts since this is really a contract dump by Philly and we're already in cap trouble. a 5th is perfect for me, no more than a 4th WITH a Maxwell restructure.

Dont see how Alonso is "scary" ?

He makes 900k and is a boom or bust type player.

Exactly. We can't just count on a player being there at 8, unless we plan on doing some reaching.

I think it could be considered "scary" if we're only counting on him to man one of the starting spots. To make his acquisition worthwhile, we'll need to look at someone else at Mike as a contingency plan, IMO.

And I've read some comments about Alonso being friends with Jordan and possibly motivating him... I'm actually hoping that the opposite doesn't happen, Jordan demotivating Alonso.

It's March. This guy basically was a throw in to make swallowing Maxwell's contract easier. Doubt we're pinning him to be Zach Thomas 2.0 yet. It's boom or bust, for cheap. Nothing scary about it.

Considering Alonso got arrested and suspended many times at Oregon, I fear this as well. Especially sprinkling in South Beach.

Alonzo is above average if you can keep the linemen away from him... aka Suh and I-don't-know who.

Everyone in the league talked trash about Maxwell last year... maybe he is in for a rebound year.

I don't get the fear with Alonso. Tannenbaum loves his cb's. So I expect they did their homework on Maxwell also. If we get Mario signed for less than we tagged Vernon, well I would be inclined to say that the haters are being overly persnickety.

We also just replaced Miko with Kiko...I know, it's why I haven't been banned yet.

That's a lot of money to pay someone to watch a game because he's hurt. Some of the fans have to actually pay the team to watch the games, not the other way around. I hope he stays healthy all year.

This is the more scary part for me.

Sucks Kiko has the injury bug. He was great as a rookie and showed amazing potential for the future. IF he shakes the injury bug thing, it's a steal, but that's a big if.
