Your right! I misinterpreted, assumed "we've done a lot of deals with his agent" meant proposals/offers about Lamar. Not the case.

Where are these ratings coming from because New England's average
of rushing yards per game was 30th (87.8 YARDS PER GAME AVG)

and Miami ran for more yards per game average than New England yet we're #30

I don't understand how you can have a terrible run game yet be rated the #2 run blocking line
like New England was last season

Letting him walk will be a huge error I think. Guy is heading for Jamaal Charles 2.0 territory. Don't let top weapons get away.

Totally agree. I'm hoping that he comes back and lets the Fins match any offer that he gets. I'm going to be a wreck about it until its over one way or the other.

I'm not sure you could find too many instances where a RB departure prohibitively impacted a team.

I think he doesn't trust this team to have his best interests in mind. I think he leaves for better or for worse. I don't think you can blame him either. I hope he goes somewhere and becomes a perennial pro bowler and rushing leader. He truly deserves it, his game has gotten better each year.

If he somehow stays it would be a minor coup for Gase. I'd get rid of Williams, though. Find another Lousaka Polite for 3rd and short. Henry would be ridiculous if we are able to take him in the second round.

Dude, Ricky Williams...I agree with your sentiment though. It's not going to kill us like Ricky. It just sucks because he's an ascending talent and he's not going to suddenly decline. We made sure that whoever gets him will have a fresh, polished back.

Personally I'm pretty upset that they are going to just let him walk. He's a game breaker, effective runner inside or out and can catch the ball as well as most running backs. Again letting our drafted talent walk right out the door.

We need to keep the best players, not let them walk.

Ricky Williams and more recently (last year in Dallas), DeMarco Murray.

Ricky Williams was really in a different era.

The Cowboys averaged 4.6 YPC in 2014. They averaged exactly that in 2015. The running game wasn't affected.

I'm starting to think he may not get quite as big a deal as he may think. If the market ends up 4-5 like it should... we may still be in that hunt. Throw in taxes and not having to move. 10-12 guaranteed 4yrs 20 million might be workable for all.

I kind of had the feeling this would happen. Not every team can have a franchise QB. Just doesn't work that way. Never has, and never will. What many teams can have are solid RBs, or at least a solid running game by committee.

I think what you are seeing here are teams are finally getting away from putting it all on a young QB's shoulders and realizing that you can be productive with a more balanced attack. Now that teams are setting up for the pass on D, they can get ripped by the running game.

Good luck to Miller. I personally do not see him sustaining a long career if someone runs him into the ground. He seems to noticeably tire a little the more carries he gets. While he may complain about carries, there are reasons he didn't get so many, and one of them is that he's just not built to carry a big load all of the time.

While Miller is a nice RB he is not a HOF candidate and the position he plays is fungible . Its the easiest position to replace .We can draft one and thus use that 6 million on another needed postion such as OL or CB or S.
I recommend that money be spent on better than average OG .We dont want a repeat of last year when little thought was given to the OL after spending a lot of money on our QB and WRs .THill was hammered all year long and he did not get time to throw to those WRs.

Thats why we saw so many of those frustrating throws short of the first down marker last year .There was no confidence that THill would get enough time to complete his passes and they were relying on the YACs which often gained nothing.

Three of the best players on the team last year were Vernon, Miller, and Matthews. It now appears none of these players will be in Dolphin uniforms next year. Instead the Dolphins will be spending their money on a player would quit on his team last year, Williams, a LB who hasn't played a full season or very well since his rookie season in 2014 and a CB who was vastly overpaid by the Eagles because he played in a great secondary with the Seahawks.

I really don't see how getting rid of the few talented young players on the roster and signing and trading for players that their previous teams don't want anymore is upgrading the talent on this roster.
Once again it it appears the Dolphins are trying to win the off season, only to fail once the regular season starts. Obviously Tannebaum cares more about making a splash in the off season than building with young talented players and through the draft as the better teams in the NFL do.

That or its a case of monkey see monkey do.

Denver completely revamped there defense over 2 years and won with a statue for a QB. Perhaps he thinks he can build a small window defense along the same route.

The Broncos were already a playoff team and they weren't getting rid of the best young talent on their roster to replace them with players who their former teams no longer wanted.

I admit I am not a Tannebaum fan and think his hiring was a negative and not a positive for the Dolphins. I will remain negative in regards to Tannebaum and his rebuilding of this team until he proves otherwise with a better product on the field.

This isn't in a vacuum though.

Its likely what those three players want is more than they are worth. Should we pay more for them, just because they were good on a 6-10 team?

It appears the Dolphins are willing to overpay for players who weren't very good on teams which didn't make the playoffs either.
I just think the Dolphins have constantly tried to upgrade through free agency and trades and they have had no success doing so.

I would rather see them build through the draft and retain their better young players, then continue to go down the path which had led to failure, year after year. The better teams generally retain their best young players and build through the draft. I would love to see the Dolphins try it the right way for a change.

If the trade goes through, Maxwell was terrible last year and the Dolphins would have to eat his huge salary in 2016.
Williams played terrible for the Bills last year and there are players on the Bills who seem to think he quit on the team.
Perhaps he will play better for the Dolphins, but I prefer a younger and perhaps more expensive Vernon than an older and maybe washed up Williams.

I just don't believe this team is good enough to try and fill holes through free agency and trades and expect to all of a sudden compete for a playoff spot next year. This is a 5 or 6 win team next year and it will take at least two or possibly 3 solid drafts before they will be anything more than mediocre, IMO.

If you are satisfied with the Tannebaum is plan for building through free agency and trades, so be it. I just don't see this leading to anything but more years of frustration for Dolphin fans.

It may be a rumor but its been said Maxwell (if signed) will be restructuring. The deal for Williams is not bad at all.

Again, you said overpaying. At this point we aren't overpaying for anyone in a deal this offseason. That may change of course.

We were a 6 win team last year, yet your complaint is that we're losing 3 of our best players (which isn't even confirmed yet, btw) but you think we'll still win 6 games, which obviously doesn't make sense. Either losing these players is bad and hurts our record or it doesn't.

Also, what difference does it make overpaying for our FA players or overpaying for FAs form other teams?
