Two years ago, Paul Soliai was part of the opening salvo in free agency which was supposed to make the Falcons relevant again. Today, he’s unemployed. The Falcons announced they had released the veteran nose tackle, which was expected since he wasn’t viewed as a fit in coach Dan Quinn’s defense. The Falcons designated him as a post-June 1 release, which spreads the cap hit a bit. But the fact they signed him to a five-year, $32 million contract so recently should help put today’s transactions in a bit of perspective.
