http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolp...a-12-hour-and-what-they-believed-to-be-a.html I think there will be more wheeling and dealing in the draft this year by Tannenbaum. With these extra picks as collateral. These mock drafts are all over the place. To the point where you see the same names anywhere from late first to late third. Names like Su'a Cravens, Karl Joseph, Kendall Fuller, Vadaal Alexander, Danny Tretola, etc. Names that make the second day of the draft seem packed with hidden gems. I say this because I think we're all a little surprised at the lack of free agent acquisitions by Tannenbaum. Particularly the guard position. This isn't really going out on a limb. Considering he averaged 4.4 draft picks a year with the Jets. I just gotta think he's gonna accumulate extra picks in rds. 2 and 3 due to our needs at guard and in the secondary. I think he's been pretty shrewd and frugal so far in free agency. But, my God, if Dallas Thomas is still looming on the roster come September then clearly he has no grasp of the team curse. In fact, I'm pretty sure that name has become so derogatory in Miami as to simply be referred to as the "D" word.
Pretty sure you can't trade comp picks.... Certainly not the year before they are awarded. This does however make it easier to offer up our own 2017 mid round picks. We saved some serious dough by replacing Miller and Vernon, with who I feel are better players. ...And we get the picks back ? Good deal.
ahem, Yeah, 2017 will present a great opportunity in the draft for us. Unfortunately, Tbum will continue to "lean" on Grier.
Signing players that were cut doesn't count in the comp pick formula....which makes the fact that we haven't signed Schwartz and Vasquez yet look even more stupid.
