The depth at tackle is very weak.

Someone set me straight but I vaguely remember Bentley being a second round pick by Nawlins but they positioned themselves to get him with one fo the Ricky Williams picks. If that's true Miami should sign him just on principle alone.

No he had nothing to do with Miami's pick thrown for Ricky.

Ricky's picks became Charles Grant and I think Calvin Pace.

Then we should have signed Pace! LOL, just kidding it's more comical that New York spent all that money on him.

I don't think that bringing someone else in necessarily stunts a player's growth.
First off I know that there's no 1 right way to build a team.
But I also don't believe that "rebuilding" is the same today as it was several years ago. Due to the advent of FA, team rosters are way too fluid for that.
In addition, how well should someone be doing in order for him not to have to earn his spot on the roster? It seems to me that there are only a handful of players in the entire league who have earned the right to be written in as starter with a pen as opposed to pencil.
I don't know....I guess I would feel differently if our OL last year had looked better. But we had so many problems in so many areas, I'm fine with upgrading in any area. Sure, I want Satele to stay; I like him and yeah he's looked like that guy. But I also want to see the best OL possible on the field on gameday.
Furthermore, if the team develops the attitude of sacrificing win now for wins later -
    1. How do you inspire them to play? If a win isn't the most important thing on gameday, why even play?
    2. At what point do you draw the line and inform the team, okay so this year we're going to play to win. If you don't win the first couple of games, then what? Do you real quickly do an about face and decide that this isn't the year after all? ....maybe next year?
I know, I know...I'm probably being extreme and over reacting with that last part. I just think if we can upgrade at any position, and certainly any OL position then it's beneficial. ANd it's not even as if Bentley is all that old.

Bravo Jaj, I totally agree with you. A healthy Bentley would be our best interior O-lineman and one of current inside trio would give us excellent depth. I cannot understand why anyone would not want us to improve our depth. Backups are a fluke injury, twisted ankle, or pulled hammy from starting.

Pace was drafted by the Cards, never played anywhere else until he signed with the Jets.

You're correct though about Pace because while he was selected by AZ it was with the 18th overall pick which was originally ours, but apparently traded at least once after we traded it away. I was thinking the Cards trade down was with Baltimore for some reason, because they had the chance before trading down to take Terrell Suggs, which would have been a popular move with their fans, but after trading down, Balt ended up taking him

if we signed lecharles id be very happy, simply because I believe in this administrations ability to not overpay for the unproven or somewhat questionable.

Calvin Pace was drafted by the Cards and played for them until this upcoming season where he has joined the Jets.

Yes we realize that, with our pick that we gave to get Ricky.
