    Wow. Cool.

It is good for him to watch Manning because that's the "type" of quarterback he is and should aspire to be. Meaning; he's a pocket passer who needs time. I know, obviously, that he's no where near as good as Manning at this point, but he's that type of pocket passer. That should be his highest aspiration or whatever.

not sure why you would think that DJ. 1) there's still time and 2) Gase's greatest success was in Denver, so why not focus on mastering that first?

this rule about the players not being allowed to learn the playbook or talk football with coaches until the offseason program starts is bull**** and needs to change quickly

Not trying to start a long drawn out argument but I haven't really chimed in on gase..

i love RT17 that's our QB and he desirves our support..

that at being said Peyton is light years ahead of rt17..

i also truly believe cutler cutler is a way better "passer" than rt17....

    lettuce pray.....

Yeah I would say the Chicago stuff is more Gase's offense and the Denver stuff is more Manning's offense.

The Denver offense was 80% Manning's offense he brought from Indy, the Bears offense last year didn't resemble that Bronco offense, QB17 and the others are studying the wrong tapes, unless as DJ suggests, it's a typo.

Welcome to the wonderful world of unionized labor.

Besides, I'm sure its pretty easy to circumvent by hiring an "independent" coach who just happens to be real good friends with Gase.

he was the offensive coordinator with the bears, why would the bears script be any less..its not a big deal just struck me as weird..The work he did with cutler and how he called plays there seems like it would be the freshest most accurate data.

Because Gase has claimed that you tailor the offense to the specific skill set of the QB you have. So neither offense should look like the one we end up running as Thill is not the same type of QB as Manning or Cutler.

Truth of the matter though, if Thill has come out and said he watched all the Bears offense and hadn't gotten around to watching the Broncos, many of the same people who are complaining now (not you though) would be upset that he didn't start with the better offense and he's just striving for mediocrity.

I am positive that if fans can distinguish between what is Mannings "80%" offense and what was "20%" Gases then THill shouldn't have an issue doing so and study the said tape that applies to his future offense don't you think?

It's not a situation where 80% of the plays are Manning's and the other 20% Gase's, it is Manning's offense, Gase added some twist's to it, but all it was was tweaking Manning's offense, Chicago was Gase's offense, those would be the tapes to study.

So, let me get this straight: people are now criticizing Tannehill for, in their mind, watching the "wrong tape?" And people wonder why I say Tannehill has never gotten a fair shake from many posters.

So the plays have been mixed and melted into each other where it's 80% Manning and 20% Gase adding his "twists" to the Manning plays and you are able to see this but Tannehill can't decipher this? Where is this going? Where did you get the percentages to determine this from?
Maybe it's RT watching the tape and seeing how Gase has (famously evidently) adjusted to the QB he is coaching and can take something away from his own strengths and weaknesses as to how Gase will work with him?

Maybe knowing that Gase will be coaching his offense to the team in the near future its not a priority for RT to study what he did with the Bears because he will soon learn that system anyways and it's more to see how Gase worked with Manning to get an idea of what to expect from Gase.

I think over analyzing every word that comes from these kids mouths is a bit much. I don't think its a bad thing to have RT watching tape of one of the greatest QBs to ever play during one of the greatest seasons of all time? Do you? Or would you rather have RT study Jay Cutler?

And I honestly don't think we are going to see the exact same offense in Miami as we did in Chicago. remember Gase molds the offense around the QB. As he did in Chicago.

I cannot see it, I'm just going by what Manning has said, it is Manning's offense, not Gase's, and in truth it's probably more than 80% Manning, from what Manning said it was some adjustments on some routes.

If you want to know what a Gase offense looks like, there is only one place to look, Chicago, regardless of whether he rewrites ever single offense based on the QB, which by the way, none of us knows for sure, because he only has 1 year to look at, which is last year in Chicago.

No one is overanalyzing anything, QB17 said he was trying to pick up on Gase's offense, but he's watching Manning's offense to do that, when he should be watching Chicago.

Btw, who do you think QB17 resembles more, Cutler or Manning? We will be running Chicago's offense, you can count on that.

Well, then you should re-read the quote. He said he's watched MORE Denver tape than Chicago, not that he's watched "No" Chicago tape.

I disagree. I think they will be running Gase's Miami offense. If you think a pre-med guy who has historically been safe with the ball resembles Cutler more than Manning, I don't know what to tell you. Either way, Gase will customize it to fit what Tannehill does well.

What's that got to do with anything lol. At this point his career has resembled Cutler more than Peyton. Which is middle of the road QB vs an all time great. Are you suggesting otherwise?

So because neither has had success so they are the same? I can find better ways to compare them than that. Big deal he said he was watching Denver tape. Maybe Gase told him not to bother with the Chicago tape. "Please Don't watch Cutler" could have been advices given. if anyone thinks the HC and QB actually follow the no contact rule it's just nieve at best. People actually think The Patirots are the only one bending rules? Lol. There is nothing wrong with RT studying the Broncos and Manning. The offense that we are going to see in Miami is going to differ from both. Gase has all but said it.

If I had to pick Peyton or Cutler I'd go more with Peyton. RT17 works with the script he's been given, goes through his progressions, pulls the trigger when he sees what is supposed to be there etc. Cutler adlibs and tries to make something out of nothing.
His execution is more similar to Cutler but his style is more similar to Peyton.

I think that's a very astute observation and I agree. He also needs to start holding other's accountable for their own poor play or lack of knowledge the way Peyton did as well instead of just relying on the position coaches to do so, and more publicly. He's often too much of a "good soldier".

You are seriously selling Peyton short if that's your image of him. The difference between Cutler and Manning is Manning makes good decisions, and Cutler makes a lot of bad ones. Manning is given a lot of freedom at the line so all QBs are given a script, but he doesn't stick to it. Both QBs made changes, one is an immensely better decision maker and a GOAT.

He and Brady are the fastest to throw because most of the time they've made their decision before the snap. So their first read might not be the primary, but based on recognition they've decided to switch the order.

As for audibling, I know nobody brought it up in this thread but in discussing Manning's histrionics at the line I found this article quoting Saturday and it's pretty good.

    http://www.jsonline.com/sports/jeff...ge-and-histrionics-b99186162z1-241032441.html

Guy played two of the best all time. Great vantage point. People think Manning just runs his own offense but he doesn't. He isn't allowed THAT much freedom. Saturday even talks about Rodgers only having one option at times, to flip a run from one side to the other. My point being, other QBs were given more freedom than Tanny sure, but it wasn't THAT much. Sometimes it wasn't at all.

My comparison was based on the simple fact that they are both middling, flawed QBs, as opposed to Peyton who is as refined as it gets at QB.

Well, y'all smashed up another thread. Was it compare RT to other QBs?

Really... Peyton or Cutler??? You guys just can't resist it. Haha.

It went from RT likes Gase's offense to RT is a flawed/mediocre QB. At least you are persistant if short on facts/substance.

Comparing what Rodgers was given ONCE IN AWHILE, is nothing compared to what Thill had to put up with. You are being so very disingenuous I'm not sure how you sleep at night.

Jeff Saturday has already shed light on the freedom Manning has. It wasn't carte Blanche like most people thought. He even says above if there was a check it was 2-3 checks. Sometimes 4 or 5.

These are the GOATs. They didn't earn that freedom with 82 ratings.

    Such horsecrap.

That freedom isn't a gift that you earn as a special reward. No, its a tool given to you to so can get over 82 rating.

The crux of your ridiculous argument is that good quarterbacks don't play great because of tangible things like a running game, the ability to audible, a not **** oline, decent pass catchers, etc.....nope, none of that means a goddamned thing. What a QB has to have is, you know........"it". Its the "it" that makes them great.

So fine, forget all this actual evidence. Forget all these actual tangible and demonstrable factors. You win, forget all of that stuff. Its only about who does and doesn't have "it".

    Ok? We good?

Now, please list for me all the QBs that have "it" that have displayed "it" whilst, not being allowed to audible, an abandoned running game and a **** oline.

It shouldn't be hard for you to do, since those things are irrelevant.

I think Ryan has the brain and ability to call and execute plays, and change them based on reads. I don't think he's had the permission to do it much yet. If Gase is serious about giving him the chance to do this, I'm excited to see what he can do.

I just remember that one game last year after Philbin refused to name Ryan the starter and kinda threw him under the bus... you could just tell Ryan was being rebellious in that game. He was audibling, and gun-slinging the whole game. And he kicked ***. I remember seeing him toss an incredible bomb for a TD, and the cameras went to Philbin who had a shocked look on his face... instead of jumping for joy! I think if Gase let's RT be a baller, we'll see more of that side of him this year. Assuming we get the line fixed, and maybe even if we don't... Either way, it does give us a reason for watching this year, even if we lost a lot of hope over the past many ever lovin' seasons.
