mods I know this belongs in the Draft Forum but damn...... The Titans get the 15th, the 43rd, the 45th, the 76th and a 2017 1st & 3rd. The Rams get this year's 1st, the 113th & 177th. TEN is sooooo lucky.
So with basically a QB going first(or maybe 1st & 2nd) everyone else gets pushed down. Ramsey & Jack falls a couple of slots imo. Elliott? I do not want to trade up but if someone falls to the fringe of the top ten would it be tempting?
Wow. So, is it Goff or Wentz to LA? No surprise this happened. Titans need more picks, more than they needed #1 overall. Rumours all over that Dallas and Philly both wanted Wentz and were willing to move up, or take him. Rams need a QB badly. Cleveland is obviously going to take one too. Rams Just secured themselves whoever they want to kick off the LA era. Once the lovefest with Philly and Wentz, and Dallas and Wentz started swirling, you just knew someone more desperate would make a move.
Depends, having a good quarterback will earn you a lot more W's than maybe a team should have a right to earn. As for Tennessee, the benefits of having a the first overall pick and already having a franchise quarterback.
If you relate the OP somehow to the Dolphins we can allow it here but since its a blockbuster deal we will leave it here anyway and I will relate it to the Dolphins. . How does this effect the Dolphins . It could mean that there will be a run on QBs at the high end of the draft which could drop a player we want to our spot .The more QBs that are drafted high the better . On the negative side it could mean that the Titans with all their ammunition , could trade up to a much higher spot and get a player we want .They could trade up with us but its doubtful since its only two spots .
The team that made that trade with Washington, the Rams, have been toiling at QB for years now. In hindsight, RG3 was not the right pick, but it's something you gamble on because a QB is so vital. Not a lot of Tom Brady's in the 6th round anymore. Closest we've had to that is Russell Wilson.
Great move for TEN who can really build around Mariota now. Rams are desperate for that guy, so this is what you have to do. Big splash as they change cities. I liked Lynch for them mid-1st, but they must love one of the others (guessing Wentz).
The awesome thing about this, I think it's safe to say the Rams are going QB. We know Cleveland should be as well. So when it comes to the draft order, and players coming off the board that have an effect on our needs, we essentially pick 11th now, making the assumption anyways that we had no interest in picking a QB at 13. Two less guys that we "need" or would consider, coming off the board before us. As for the Titans, its obviously a great move for them. Real solid chance to keep building around Mariotta now. This is bothersome to me since my wife is a Titans fan, and they'll likely make it back to the playoffs before we do now.
I guess. But I'm not exactly in love with the QB class. Plus, LA gave up their picks in the '17 Draft as well. As for us, this could push down a lot of prospects for us.
I don't think this changes anything for the Dolphins. Both Goff and Wentz were going to be drafted before the Dolphins pick at 13, whether this trade was made or not. The Rams certainly understood they would have no chance of drafting one of these QB's unless they moved up in the draft. Therefore they decided to do what was necessary to ensure they get their selection of either Goff or Wentz, by moving all the way up to the first pick.
Wow, don't see a Qb in this draft worth this kind of risk but hey, if the Rams think they have their guy for the next 10 years go for it. They are a fairly talented team with no Qb so if the guy they draft can play this year or next at a high level and this gets them back to the playoffs so be it. Making a flashy move because they are moving to LA might have factored into this just a bit....
Since 1990 QBs traded into top-5: RGIII Sanchize M.Vick R.Leaf Kerry Collins Jeff George Really Rams???
I don't get how players are rated lower because they come from small colleges or conferences, yet all of a sudden this guy who was from a really small school and a small conference is suddenly the number 1 pick at the most important position on the team.
One of our posters absolutely pounded the table, emphatically stating that Wentz was the best QB in the class. Anyone know? He's got to be pretty pleased with how this is shaking out. Lynch dropped bigtime and Wentz looks like the #1 pick. Titans hit the jackpot.
I like Goff better than Wentz and would take him if I had the first draft pick. I think Wentz might turn out to be a decent NFL QB, but he only looked average during the senior bowl game and the competition he played against in college has to be considered very suspect. Perhaps Wentz will turn out to be a future a HOF QB, but based on their college careers,I just see Goff as the safer bet. Of course my job isn't on the line if I screw up the first pick in the draft, as the Rams decision makers are. Especially after giving up as much as the Rams did to move up to the first pick.
This will shake up the draft for sure now. If QB goes 1 and 2. SD most thought would take Ramsey have to think about taking Tunsil at 3 and actually protect Rivers. Wish now put Dallas in a spot where they get to pick between Jack or Ramsey. I could see them trying to trade down a few spots now if someone wants these two, like at 7 and pick Elliott just before Philly.
To pay that much there had to be someone else bidding. We were able to trade up to #3 overall cheaply to pick DJ because no one else thought he was a future HOFer
I don't think there's a serious relationship there. Every draft is different. Every prospect is different. Only time tells the real story.
Carson Wentz will be a top 10 QB by year 2 if he gets decent protection. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The problem I see for the Rams is that they are counting on the prayer that none of their depth either retires or gets hurt over the next few years. They will be in trouble if either happens.
Ill say it, when I studied Goff he did remind me a bit of brady..its the way he surveys the field, then fires, quick release, has vision of the field, sees his target and finishes his follow thru towards that target..also, this kid is a multi threat qb..I know no'one really talks about it but if you watch his games in there entirety you will see the awareness to run when his reads are covered and the protection breaks down, he's very good at sensing the pressure, shifting to reset the platform, or tucking the skin and gettin yardage..
just saw a nice shot of him with his shirt nice and open, you know that part, where the button near the top that should be buttoned by a guy like that?...it isn't..its hairy and in your face...looks like he trimmed the mullet a bit though, I cant see the back anymore when I look at him head on.
