Decent RAW tonight. L.A. crowds are always a little bit wonky. Somewhat smarkish, but never fully engaged. But they pretty much did what WWE wanted them to do.

Looks like full on tweener mode for Reigns/Wyatt. I would prefer a complete heel/face turn, respectively, but it is a step in the right direction.

AJ vs. Sami was good. Not great...but really good. Sami came extremely close to blowing about four different spots, but managed to keep it together.

Really good tag team match to end the show as well.

Bullet Club debuting was a nice surprise, but I found the timing to be odd. I assumed they would hold them off until the finals of the tag team tournament which, by the way, I think is a good idea since the tag division is strong, but sort of directionless beyond New Day.

Apollo Crews is going to go extremely far...except I do not know what to do with him, if I am creative. He doesn't really have a character as of now, for anyone to truly get behind. Fun to watch, though.

Loved the KO stuff. No idea why Shane is still around from a story line standpoint.

Women's match was ok. Did what it was supposed to do in getting heat on Charlotte and make Nattie look credible.

    Solid RAW.

Apollo Crews needs a new theme song, and so far he is just an athlete. No character. Get the feeling he will fade away eventually.

I can't make sense of anything involving Shane since he came back. I mean the whole storyline with The Undertaker was completely pointless. But hey it's great having Shane back so I'll just roll with it.

I like how Anderson and Gallows attacked The Usos for no reason and it wasn't a big build. Kind of has that first week of the nWo where Hall would interrupt a Mike Enos vs. Steven Doll match type vibe.

  4. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

100% correct on the NWO vibe. You know something bigger is eventually going to happen. I assumed they would be involved with AJ, or debut alongside Balor. But if they go with a 'rogue tag team' sort of storyline to introduce them, that could totally work.

It is probably time for a face GM, and Shane fits that mold better than most. It would just be better if they hadn't completely written themselves into a corner with the WM stipulation and then totally ignored it the next night.

Agreed with a face GM but you know Triple H and Stephanie will be back sooner than later and we'll get another McMahon vs. McMahon feud. It is annoying that they ignored the WM stipulation so it makes the next time they have a match with a big stipulation not as meaningful but hey this is the same company that at the 2014 Survivor Series said the Authority would be gone forever and they came back the next month.

There are really a bunch of endless storylines they can go with Anderson/Gallows for awhile. I'd just have them keep attacking random wrestlers whether they are big names or the "Social Outcasts" of the WWE. Then work from there.

I also found it random that Bray and Roman had a tag match for no apparent reason, no storyline behind it. And that story ended already since now the focus will be AJ styles vs Roman Reigns.

I dont know, maybe they should instead have Roman Reigns defend his title every monday like Goldberg used to for WCW.

If youre not even going to give him a storyline at least give the fans a world title match every monday.

It also goes to show u how thin the roster is, i mean who else would be up for a number 1 contender match? Hesvyweight division looks pretty dull atm. Time to introduce Finn Balor.

The WWE is most likely planting the seeds for Roman and Bray to feud over the WWE title after Payback but wanted to establish that the Wyatt Family are becoming good guys or in the very least tweeners first.

  9. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

The last thing WWE should do is take creative notes from WCW.

The top of the roster is extremely thin right now, but that really isn't the fault of the WWE. Daniel Bryan retired, John Cena, Seth Rollins and Randy Orton are injured. Arguably your top four guys gone within the half year. That is tough to recover from. You can argue that WWE needs to make more stars, but really...that only ever happens out of a need...which they currently have. So you are getting new "stars", so to speak.

Bray seems set for a mega push as a face before too long. Reigns seems to have embraced his inner heel, which will make him a much better face down the road. Ambrose is basically teflon and once he is done with Jericho, will be thrust into yet another high profile feud. Cesaro, Owens, Sami and AJ are all near the top of the card with the hopes that one, if not two of them can shake out to be long term stalwarts towards the top. All good stuff that I applaud.

The only issue I have with the WWE right now is their continued 50/50 booking. That doesn't help anyone get over and no one can truly break out unless they get that rocket push (and even then, as seen with Reigns, they don't truly commit 100%).

  11. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

The theory is that everyone stays strong and credible, when in fact, as you said, it limits the growth of anyone beyond a certain point in the eyes of the fans. Really, only Brock Lesnar is booked outside of this mindset. He and Undertaker. And both are part timers. Cena has even done his best to make new stars, but ends up getting his win back and deflating the whole process.

Quite honestly, They should really build around The Shield members again once Seth Rollins comes back. The main stories for the entire year should revolve around them. Keeping all three strong and relevant but never fully committing to all three of them fighting each other officially until Wrestlemania next year. Tag matches, one-on-one matches, interfering in each other's business, etc. But save the triple threat for Wrestlemania main event, next year. Even replicate the old Lex Luger/Bret Hart Royal Rumble where Seth and Dean land at the same time, forcing the match to be a triple threat at Wrestlemania. Although...I would prefer the Triple Threat to be a Three Way Dance, instead. But WWE hates those so it won't happen.

I feel like we are watching the same matches on a loop every night. Monday Night Raw is not a house show, stop treating it like one

  16. Samphin

    ???

You are complaining about Ambrose vs. Owens, Jericho vs. Zayn, a really fun 8 man tag match that featured Cesaro and a Payback card that is already booked better than Wrestlemania?

No Cena, No HHH, No Steph, No Orton, No Kane, No Big Show.

I am not sure what more can be done.

That being said, the overseas tours DO tend to focus more on the in-ring product and less on promos/backstage skits. So in that regard, it feels more like a house show...but is that a bad thing? Especially with the workers they have on the roster right now?

Last night was actually one of the better overseas RAWs in recent memory. Got some good match ups, and really liked the AJ Styles/Gallows/Anderson interaction and then the Reigns beat down. Enjoyable RAW overall.

RIP Chyna. If anyone can do a tribute on the current WWE roster, it would be Charlotte. Ahe has the strength to pull off the gorrila slam and power bomb and the athletic ability to do that cartwheel/ back flip back elbow move.

And Stephanie McMahon is getting ripped to shreds on twitter, she tweeted giving respect to Chyna and everyone is bashing her head against the wall for everything she did to ostracize Chyna. Pretty sure she will ask for an extended vacation after this. Sorry Shane, ya gotta stick around longer now.

I'd guess the WWE will put up a graphic at the start of RAW and that's it. Maybe they will post a YouTube tribute and/or on their website but can't see them doing more. They're not going to ignore her but they're not going to go out of their way to really honor her either. With good reason mind you.

It is a shame yet another wrestler drops dead at a young age.

Also New Day sold the most merch at WM. Thought that was really interesting.

My guess is she will get into the HOF posthumously. People tend to forgive and forget certain indiscretions once one of the parties, you know...dies. As for now, I agree. I think they will put a graphic up. I think they will handle the tributes on platforms other than RAW, other than maybe Michael Cole doing a quick send off before the go to commercial or something like that.

Remember, she was 45 and a trainwreck in her later years with regards to substance abuse. Not exactly the image that the WWE wants to be associated with. Every article about her right now is linking her to the WWE already, which has got to be bugging them given that she hasn't worked there in forever. Once the story goes cold, I think they can start to acknowledge her and her contributions in a more reverential manner. But for now, don't be surprised if it is quick and dirty and moving on until the autopsy, COD, etc. are all cleared up.

I agree, I think she'll eventually get into the HOF but it's going to be a long time. Between the WWE only putting 1 dead wrestler in a year to all the crap she's said about the WWE, the McMahons, Triple H and others, her 'movies', personal demons and of course ODing it's going to be at least 10 years if not longer. There's just a lot of baggage there right now.

She absolutely is a HOFer and should get in but yeah I don't blame the WWE for not wanting anything to do with her right now.

I can't find the sincerity in Triple H's statement.. this is the guy that basically made her go from normal to crazy overnight.. They got in the business together, they were engaged at one point, and then he went after the boss' daughter and avoided Chyna because he was too much of a coward to end the relationship.

They were never engaged and its insane to blame Triple H for her downfall. She had issues well before they ever met, she was never 'normal'. Not defending Triple H for how he handled the end of their relationship but come on she didn't go crazy overnight because of him.

The coward left her strung along, she gets roasted by Stephanie McMahon in a private talk about Triple H, she gets a pep talk from Vince promising her a contract if she "behaves properly" about Triple H and Stephanie, and a week later when shes about to accept they told her they dont need her anymore. So in my view that is three psychos telling her she is a psycho.

Triple H came off bad and very corporate on his statement when his relationship with her was far more than corporate. She got issues and was a trouble soul but shes not a corporate psychopath like her ex partner and Stephanie.

It would be a waste to put them with that sinking ship. I'm sure they will cost AJ the match but I want them nowhere near Reigns. Having Balor show up and help Anderson and Gallows beat up Styles after the match or having it turn out AJ was working with A&G so Reigns asks Ambrose and a returning Rollins for help would be a much better storyline.

New low rating for RAW last night, I wonder if Reigns will get any blame for it or if Vince will put it on someone that's not his golden boy.

    Obviously RAW needs more McMahons.

    Ok...first off, which five?

Second off, they JUST promoted five or so people from NXT, as well as brought in one of the best tag teams in the world in Gallows and Anderson, not to mention the promotion of Styles, pushes of Cesaro, Ambrose, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens et al. Where do these five people fit in, exactly?

Balor, Joe, Nakamora and Bayley are the only ones I can think of but you're right they wouldn't fit in with the current roster and get forgotten about or worse end up like Tyler Breeze.

Also Meltzer has been reporting Vince isn't a fan of the Vaudevillians and doesn't get their gimmick.

  38. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

Balor probably makes the most sense in the short term, given the recent additions of the BC, but only as a heel and to be honest, he has been an awesome face and would most likely need to be the same when he comes up. Joe is better of in NXT. Nakamura would be awesome anywhere, but what is he going to do on the main roster? Fight for the IC/US title? I just don't see where he fits, currently. Especially without a mouthpiece.

Bayley should stay in NXT for awhile longer, in my opinion. At least until Summerslam. Otherwise the women's division at NXT takes a major step down. Her and Asuka working with the rest of that roster to help bring them along is needed before they move up.

I like the idea of The Vaudevillains, even as their gimmick is somewhat Indy-ish and campy. I think they have actually handled them quite well so far in the WWE. English is underrated on the mic and Gotch has terrific psychology and facial expressions (also a friend).

I agree with everything you're saying.

I can't see how Balor would work as a heel. Fans won't buy him as one they will naturally want to cheer for him because he's great in the ring and his charisma is off the charts, especially if he does the demon entrance. There's no one I can think of that the WWE could put him in the ring with where he'd be boo'ed.

Nakamura's English or lack of it is the only thing that can hold him back. I don't like the idea of giving him a mouth piece so hopefully he can be able to cut a 30 second straight forward promo and let his talent in the ring get him over.

While I think Bayley is ready now, between it being a big hit to NXT if she leaves there's really nothing for her to do on the main roster right now. The WWE is planning a Banks/Charlotte Summer Slam program for the Women's title so if Bayley isn't in the main event title picture he's going to be forgotten about.

I think there's a place on the active roster for the Villains but I think they have an extremely low ceiling but if the WWE is serious about really building up the tag division you need teams like them around, even if they're talent enhancements.
