I've been a fan since the early 70's. I recall my grandfather saying they were good, and I liked Dolphins. The colors were cool too. For many many years I expected the Dolphins to win every game they played and be in the Super Bowl every year. There was a legit chance of that. Somewhere along the fiedler years I started to realize there was no possibility of that and every time he went back to pass I would cringe. Each year it seems further and further from the reality of being possible for the Dolphins to go to the Super Bowl. I notice in the comments many of you are younger fans and I was more wishful in my thinking, but as time as gone on reality has set in. Also the players; in the 70's you had so many great players that you could choose to like. In the 80's you had Duper, Clayton, Marino, the killer B's. In the 90's and early 00's you had Thomas, Taylor, Williams. Now you have........................... maybe Wake, Tannehill I guess if you are one that likes him. I still get the NFL ticket to watch the games, but I don't feel the anticipation that I used to, nor the anger when they lose; it is more expected now. Years and years of front office failures have really doomed the franchise; and done nothing for my love for the Dolphins. It is like a really bad marriage at this point.

I have been a Dolphins fan since I was about 8 or 9. My first memories were of the Fiedler and Ricky Williams era so I have sat through a lot of mediocrity and just barely missing the playoffs. I guess I am just holding out hope that eventually the Dolphins will be a good team again and all of the years of missing the playoffs will be worth it once we are good again.

Its in my DNA .Nothing is going to change that .Win or Lose .I will always be a Dolphins fan .

Even when we have crappy players or coaching staff or FO I always watch the games anyway .There is always something to watch like the development of a promising young star like Landry last year.

Can't really speak as a Dolphins fan because I'm not as invested in the team as you guys.

But I am a St Helens fan, a famous Rugby League team. I have been a fan in an era where many older Saints fans would say it's been awful. But we managed to scrape a title win in '14 after losing the grand final (super bowl if you would..not nearly as big though) 5 times in a row.

Crappie management, poor players , new stadium hasn't got the same "fortress" feel to it.

But when we win, especially against Wigan, Warrington or Leeds then it's always the best feeling in the world.

I come from the Griese, Warfield, Csonka, Kickk, Morris, no-name D times. Then was there was Dan... all that needs to be said.

    Will not ever let go.

Its been hard to explain to my wife as well. We started dating the last week of August, 2004, so shes known me as nothing but frustrated and depressed about the team. No one else in her family watches sports at all either, so it was something completely new to her. She's grown to accept it as a big part of who I am though.

Honestly, there have been times recently where I wish I could change teams, it's just not how I'm wired though, for good or bad, I'm a Dolphins fan and that's all there is to it, and the closest I've ever been to Miami is Pensacola.

The only way I could stop being a Dolphins fan is to stop being an NFL fan.

I grew up in South Florida and became a football fan at an early age because my Dad loved to watch it. We followed a couple of teams and generally watched who ever was on TV. It all changed in 1966 when the Dolphins were born. My Dad and I became die hard Dolphin fans because we finally had a team we could lay claim to other than the teams who's home was in some other state. We were fans together until my Dad passed away in 1972 and I continue the tradition to this day. Now my Son is a Dolphin fan as an adult for which I am very proud, as I am sure my Dad would be. I would sooner stop watching football all together than to stop being a Dolphin Fan.

I've made this analogy before but I'll make it again....

A lot of us love shows like Game of Thrones or Walking Dead in spite of the fact that the shows don't care about ripping your heart out and stomping on it. We are in it for the story. The good, the bad, the joy, the pain. All the happy moments make the unhappy worse and all the unhappy makes the happy even better. But we watch, specifically because of that roller coaster. The joy, the pain....all of it, makes the story great, makes the ride great.

I've recently come to view the Dolphins the same way. Forget about winning like you forget about your favorite character living through the next episode and just enjoy the ride....all of it. The bad will make the good better. The story is why I watch now, specifically because of the roller coaster. The joy, the pain....all of it, makes the story great, makes the ride great.

I'm much happier now. Give it a try.

I forgot to mention my Dolphin footy pajamas (both green and orange pairs), my Dolphin toboggan, and my Dolphin heavy jacket with orange sleeves when I was a tike.
I also had a Griese jersey and 2 sets of Dolphin colored electronic football players to battle the Cowboys and Steelers. Later on I traveled to Atlanta to see Dan play.

One of my first football memories is of Ed Podalak against the Dolphins. 3 of my biggest fan losses were the Stabler throw through like 4 guys as he was going down, the SD game and cursed Winslow, and John Riggins running all over us in the Super Bowl. The SF loss in the Superbowl was somewhat expected... but like Dan probably, I thought we would be back several times. I never understood the lack of D... and still don't.

These days I still am a Dolphin at heart, like to go for SD because they are my daughter's favorite team, and the Cowboys because of another reason. I have been to several Panthers games and try to go for them as best I can. Haha.

My wife couldn't tell you if the Phins were on offense or defense if she sat down to watch the game with me but she gets it. She has no idea why its so important to me but she get the fact that its a part of who I am. Over the years she has bought me autographed Marino jerseys, helmets, footballs etc. Hell for my 40th birthday she signed me up to drive a NASCAR by myself around Talladega Speedway!!! Bottom line, she could care less about any of this stuff but knows how ingrained in my life it is and embraces it. I'm a lucky SOB that I found someone who gets how twisted I can be with this let alone supports it.

Back in the day you couldn't get that stuff anywhere except in Miami area. Or from Sears catalog. I remember looking through it and seeing the cool Dolphins stuff.

People ask me how or why I became a Dolphins fan. And I don't know the answer. It's just been that way as long as I can remember. Like something I was born with. It's getting so I don't care much for the NFL anymore. Part of that is this team has been so hard to watch. The other part is the over saturation and the ridiculous way the sport is covered and the way the league is managed. It's just all starting to make me very tired of it. But I'll never stop being a fan of the Dolphins. And I sure as hell don't care enough about this sport to even think about cheering for another team.

Why am I still a Dolphins fan?

Well I didn't become a Dolphins fan because I am more Miami or the local area, or have any family ties to the area. I became a Dolphins fan because they just grabbed me of all the teams when I first started watching football around the 2000s. They have a rich history and excellent uniforms. The area is great. Overall, they just seemed like a natural choice. And liking the Miami Heat made it a natural fit as well.

Oh, and they and Dan Marino featured on Ace Ventura!

Right, lol, my "love" for them is at an all time low, or maybe it peaked or... whats the opposite of peaked? vallied? lol, (new form of a word for Webster's, courtesy of the Miami Doldrums) anyway, vallied last offseason when they didn't fire Philbin/Coyle and gave a DT 120 mil.

Not sold on Gase yet, but there certainly is a lot more to like about him then there ever was about Philfin.

weirdly no, the obsession to be great and to get it right stays the same right alongside the futility..Im a draft geek so that helps..Love the dynamic of a new head coach, love to see whether they have the goods, break it down, give them their due shot, then once you see the weakness that will ultimately fail the team, rinse repeat.

check out this site since your a draft nut. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/mia/draft.htm it is kinda sad to see all the draft picks after 83. Actually makes some of the drafts in the 00's look good.

    I'm loyal.
    No other answer needed.
I didn't choose to be a Dolphin fan I just was.
It was ingrained in me from my father being one.

    Once I'm on board I don't waiver.
