Using nfl.com's rankings: 13: R1P13 ILB Reggie Ragland Alabama. He was ranked 11th overall and the 2nd highest ranked remaining player. He would give us a force in the middle of the defense and likely an every down player. We'd be much harder to run on with him at Mike. 42: R2P11 DT Chris Jones Mississippi St. He was 23rd overall in their rankings. The highest ranked remaining player. Pure talent wise he could be the best DT in this draft and he could conceivably fall due to character concerns. He well be worth the risk if he does and could combine with Suh to give us a dominant pair of DTs. 73: R3P10 G Nick Martin Notre Dame. He was ranked 75th overall. The highest remaining player for me was Germain Ifedi. I decided to take the Guard/Center rather than the Tackle/Guard. Martin could start at G and be able to seamlessly move inside to C when Pouncey gets hurt again. 107: R4P9 RB Kenneth Dixon Louisiana Tech. He was ranked higher than this overall, but every year for some reason or another it seems a good RB or two will slip down to the bargain range. It could be Dixon and if so, he'd give us a nice one two punch with Ajayi. 147: R5P8 CB Sean Davis Maryland. They actually had him ranked around the mid 150s overall, which seems low to me. He is kind of a S-CB tweener, but he is big, strong, a hard hitter, and had the best combined shuttle and cone times of anyone at the Combine, which means he has more than good enough short area quickness for corner. 186: R6P11 CB Maurice Canady Virginia. He was surprisingly IMO ranked overall in this range. Since this is considered a need position, and I waited till the 3rd day to address it, I thought it best to double up. If both these guys pan out, along with Lippett and McCain, Davis could conceivably play Safety too. 227: R7P6 DE Jason Fanaika Utah. This was another surprise to find him ranked as a 7th rounder. I consider him more like a 4th, but if he was available this late he'd be a good gamble to address depth at DE, and offer some pass rush potential. Had some of the better edge speed times in the drills at the Combine among DEs. 231: R7P10 OLB Beniquez Brown Mississippi St. Instinctive and reactive OLB who'd be a fine special teamer and could eventually compete for a starting job. Good value here.
