I love Jason Taylor. Along with Marino and Thomas, one of my three all time favorite players. However, moving him for a second rounder when we did before the 2008 season was just smart business. Coming off the 1-15 2007 season, we had no reason to believe that we'd contend in the near future, so moving a guy going into his 12th year works for the club and the player. The fact that he came back in 2009 was awesome. The fact that he and Tuna feuded and JT then went to the Jets in 2010 was the part that sucked. With Zach, its hard to say. How badly was he really hurt in that fender bender in the middle of the 2007 season? How much did the losing from 2004 onward and the switching of coaches wear on him emotionally? Part of me really wants to think that had things been better with the team in general, he'd have stayed and played a few more seasons.
