Of the players on the squad who didn't start last season.. Which ones do yell think have the best chance at becoming a very good starter for us in the future?

For me, I think Tony Lippet and Zach Vigil on defense could have that potential... And on offense Matt Hazel and Jay Ajayi do. Ajayi is probably to obvious, so I'll throw out Jake Stoneburner at TE.

So Hewitt doesn't count because he started a couple of games? Because I would pick Hewitt.

No Hewitt definitely counts... So does Parker.. Lol. For some reason I just had him locked in my head as a starter even though Fins right.. He wasn't.

    Good choices!

I am really hoping Hewitt's game against New England was a preview for things to come and not just a guy who had the game of his life. He was already pretty good in coverage, however that game he was a force against the run.

Yeh if Neville Longbottom, I mean Hewitt plays that way consistently, man that would be huge.

For you guys who like Lippett, did you watch him play a lot in college, or is this just kind of hoping he'll develop?

I watched him in college and honestly liked him better as a receiver but he held his own on defense.. As a receiver though he looked like Plaxico Burress.

His senior season he was Plaxicoesque, but Plaxico put up the same numbers in 2 years as Lippett did in 4 years, which is part of the reason why Plax was a top 10 pick and Lippett a 5th rounder, so I think the Plaxico comparison is a bit of a reach.

I also think Lippett is just too slow to be a CB, I think they should try him at FS, the kid is a good athlete, and a good football player, probably should have just left him at WR, and that might be the best idea going forward as well.

Either way, he needs to get stronger, speed is not his thing, he's got good height, so I would work on his strength, he could be a serious mismatch vs your typical slot type CB.

Did not watch him in college other than highlights. He did seem to have the speed to run with our WRs in practice, pretty good hands and a knack for being around the ball. it's just hoping he'll develop.

Ifo Ekpre-Olomu. So much potential but was injured rookie year and played in CLE. Was a force at Oregon. Two years removed from a major injury with limited playing time in CLE and he could shine at full health which he's reported as being.

I think he can fit somewhere, he does have a nose for the ball, and the kid can play, I wouldn't be shocked if he emerged as a very good player.

Bobby McCain was ranked #1 slot CB before we tried him at boundary. So he has already been great.

I don't think that was a fluke, either.

Last year's draft class could wind up being best ever. Ervybody made the team, even some undrafted guys.

We can all hope! I'm sure there are a few on the roster who are like that, and a few starters who will take their game up a notch.

A lot would still have to happen, but it could still be a great draft when all is said and done, and possibly best ever, mainly because we have never had a really great draft, our best draft produced 4 very good players, 1 all time great, Marino, and 2 multi pro bowl WRs, Clayton and Anthony Carter, and 1 great punter, Roby, but only 3 of those guys played for us.

That was also a 12 round draft, and both WRs would have been UDFAs in a 7 round format.

No, you saw flashes out of Jay Ajayi. You saw way more than mere flashes once Parker took over. You can go play hard to get in club (lmfao). I'll go watch the man climb the ladder from 50 yds out some more...Crazy, don't insult the man by trying to light a fire under him (lol). He could plateau with that level of production and reach 1200 yds receiving at almost 20 yds per catch. Parker is as advertised, and he fell perfectly to us.

The guy who does post game write ups for Finheaven.com had to eat his own words. He hated on Parker from the start, he had to admit he was delusional by the end of the season.

Parker had about 450 yards and 3 TDs in the six games that he played after coming back healthy at the end of the year, and averaged 20 yards per catch or better in 5/6 games. How could anyone not be excited about that?

Ajayi's record in college was impressive running the ball and even as a receiver. Likewise in his debut season he showed flashes of being a play maker. So if he is given the chance this season to be our starting running back, which is possible if Elliot doesn't fall to us and we don't pursue a veteran free agent like Arian Foster, then I could see Ajayi breaking out and having a good season. The obvious issue with Ajayi is the rumored or reported concerns about his knee, which if true could reduce how long he plays in the league, but if his knee isn't a concern like other people report, then there's no reason why he can't have a good career with us and be a productive running back for us.

The other candidate would be Devante Parker. He pretty much has everything you look for in a number #1 wide receiver. He's not Megatron, but he has enough talent, size, athleticism and ability to be one of the top ten receivers in the league. And if that happens and he stays healthy long term, he could have a very special career with us, just like Landry could do. I wouldn't be surprised if they finished their careers as two of the most productive receivers on our all time lists, especially in terms of receiving yards.

They would be my top two choices.

Jordan Phillips is under the radar. He might be a better prospect than any of the DT's coming out this year. 6'6" 330 lbs, took his lumps last year but certainly isn't limited physically. A lot of people's mind about Tannenbaum will change if Phillips progresses.

I still want to see him do a backflip after a sack...

I had Parker as a Pedraft stud, and a potential star...Also have recently said that only a couple of backs in this draft are graded as hi as Ajayi was coming out, all these backs besides Elliot and Henry are lower rated for me than ajayi was..

He played heavy I believe last year so his flashes were small to me compared to what I wanted to see...Parker has some real special hand eye coordination.

no clue what that means Rilla but ok..
