So the very first pick of the Draft is OT Laremy Tunsil one of the best players in the draft! He slid dow to 13 due to his "hacked" twitter account and the image of him smoking out of a bong. If that wasn't bad enough after he explain on national television that he was hacked it was years ago and he's learned his lessons everyone was willing to forgive him it seems, however about 30 minutes later Chats from him and his coaches at OL Miss got posted with him asking for money from his coaches to pay his rent and his moms.

Clearly this is a violation of the rules and something that the NFL can punish him for if im not mistaken at the NFL level. Even if it doesn't what kind of presidence does this set for a team than is in NO need of DRAMA right now.

Tunsil admitted that he took the money and he also had to sit out the first seven games of the 2015-16 season after the NCAA ruled that he received improper benefits, including the use of three loaner cars.

This guy clearly doesn't listen to the rules.. Is this going to be a problem for Miami?

If the NFL wouldn't let players play that took money illegally in college, there would be a player shortage. This is a non issue. Just media making drama. No one will care in a week.

No, we just boosted the heck out of his era.

Best job ever for landing consensus #1 talent, switching Miko for Kiko and a tough corner in Maxwell.

you guys can poo poo all you want. Marijuana should be legal, college football players should be paid!

With the rookie salary cap and the slide to #13, he may be taking a pay cut coming to the NFL...

Nope. No issues. He has already been disciplined for violations. Ole miss on the other hand may have no explaining to do.

Enjoy getting a great value player in the draft for once.

This pick was all Gase. He was probably the main guy pounding the table for Tunsil.

No. Just gave Tannehill a top-flight LT for the rest of his contract. Gives Miami plenty of options/depth on the O-line.

That said, they need to NAIL the rest of this draft on defense.

Yeah college educations are completely worthless.
Just ask all the kids that are in debt to their eyeballs to create a future for themselves that don't get scholarships.
    Mindset is unbelievable.

IM not saying that his Value at 13 wasnt phenomenal it was, im just concerned about his first pick and if something goes wrong and this blows up in the media and we have media all over this digging for more dirt.

Agree about college kids not getting paid I think something should be paid for. Maybe free room and board for players, something...

However rules are rules and OHIO State can get in trouble if this plays out, Tunsil can as well

The pick of Tunsil was a complete steal and worth the risk.
These are minor issues at the end of the day.
You know how many athletes in the NFL smoke it up anyway?
You can't draft all Boy Scouts and build a successful team.

Kid has some issues with making smart decisions but again the risk was well worth it IMO.

So he smoked pot and supposedly had help paying for his mother's electric bill/rent. The proof of the money being a "screen shot" of a supposed text message exchange.

I'm okay with both. Only the weed was not legal, and that would have been legal in 3 states.

Ole Miss's football team brought in $51,333,351 in revinue and paid $2,678,457 worth of scholarships. The NCAA is a scam.

    Source of numbers: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools...isc_non_event/2015-ncaa-financial-summary.pdf

Edit: and the head coach made $4,300,000. Lovely.

I don't care about him taking money at Ole Miss. I don't blame any kid that does.

It is odd that he would admit to it on the record, but it isn't something that should create a problem in the NFL.

Comparing an athlete - especially a high end football or basketball player - to a regular student is also an unbelievable mindset. The circumstances surrounding both are entirely different. It is unbelievable that these athletes do not get paid real money.

I have 0 problems with him taking money to help pay bills. Beyond none. Am concerned a bit about the pot and timing, but the picture reportedly is old. If the dude surrounds himself with good people and is humbled by his slide and ready to shove some people around for it ... I am all in.

Who cares man? All you seem to want to do is focus on the negative in things. I understand that mentality and mindset, I understand your concerns. Believe me, I get it. But... it's really not much of an issue at this level. So the kid broke some NCAA rules likely by receiving cash from his coaches to help out his mom. Is it a violation of rules in the NCAA. Yes. Is it some egregious, huge mistake? Not really. The weed thing... Yeah, that looks bad. However, if you think he's the only guy presently in the NFL that smokes weed, or smoked weed in college, I've got news for you. He's definitely not. The media is going to make this look bad until the draft is over, then after that. It's a non issue. Does he need to stop smoking weed to play in the NFL? Well, he should. Will he? Probably not. These guys, and I'd be these teams have ways of hiding that. Of course you'd want him to stop. As for the money issue, with that contract he's going to get, his mom is set. He's set. He can take whatever he wants from anybody willing to pay him at this level. It's really not an issue.

He's a top 5 talent at a spot of drastic need for this team. That's far from ruining the Adam Gase era.

It's really not that odd that he would admit it. He didn't have a choice. The image of the messages was already out there, the media had it. He didn't really have a choice but to own it, unless he wanted to lie about it, even though the proof was already out. Then he'd really look like a fool.

From now on, if Tunsil takes money from people it will be called "endorsements." As far as the weed thing goes, it is something the Dolphins should monitor, provide him assistance, but in the end, should not view as that big of a deal. Yes there have been people like Josh Gordon and Justin Blackmon who ruined their careers with pot, but I see them as very different from Tunsil. The other two had long documented issues throughout college. Tunsil has a really embarrassing video that got released on draft day.

A lot of people here want to dismiss it, but I think that part of being a really sound organization is to help this kid get through some maturity issues. And in all honesty, helping him out would not only benefit the Dolphins, but Tunsil as well. If he keeps his nose clean, his second contract could be a mega-deal.

What does Ohio State have to do with Tunsil? He's in the NFL, he can't get in trouble for accepting money in college. He didn't lie when he was asked.

I think you're making this a bigger deal than it is. The title of the thread is a joke.

Most of these college football players are forced/required to skip classes and go to practice so don't give me that college education bull****, especially after multiple scandal and many players coming out saying they didn't take classes, they won a lot of games, party'd hard, and practice more. That college education is worthless to a future NFL prospect that is pressured by his coaches that gave him that scholarship to go to practice.

Players are starving and they leave their families, most of which are struggling with money too. In the NFL, the players union fight for an even split. That college education is not an even split with the amount of money the school generates off them.

The NCAA issue is not reviewable/punishable by the NFL unless he is criminally charged, likely not to happen. The pot issue can put him into the program, but geez, 40% of players are in the program... I don't see the down side of taking him AT #13. Had we taken him at 8 or traded up for him...then you can say the risk would be too great...

I don't get the never failed drug test stuff. The drug test is to detect marijuana usage by the subject. Kid has a gas mask on with a bong. I'm sure the drug test would be superfluous at that point.

I think his point is that there isn't this chronic (pun intended) issue with weed smoking where he was getting caught all the time, like a Gordon or even a Honey Badger.

Honestly, i think most fans don't care about the player smoking weed and they actually care more about that the player is smart enough to not get caught with a positive test result.

Listen alot of people seem to be saying so what it was against the rules etc, etc. Im not concerned about talent hes great player glad he fell to us, but you know rules are there for a reason and when you have people who understand the rules but don't care you get issues that can effect the franchise. See Tom Brady deflategate, See ricky Williams Drug suspensions IF this kid doesnt learn and just does what he wan'ts it can cause us some issues.

Im glad he a Fin and I wish him luck just worried and today he had another incident they said allergic reaction but who know what happened. Just a rough start to his NFL carrer! We don't need more drama please!!!!

There are no sure things when it comes to the NFL draft. Last night I thought the Dolphins would pass on Tunsil because of their experience with Jordan. Yet they looked at the situation and decided to draft a player many experts had rated as the top pick in the draft a few months ago.

I am not the least bit concerned about him getting into trouble for possibly receiving money while he was in college. He already served a seven game suspension last year at Mississippi for this type offense.

I think if the NCAA and the NFL were really concerned with players getting paid under the table and they actually did a serious investigation, more than half the players in college would be serving a suspension.

I also think more than half of them have probably smoked marijuana. So I will simply accept the Dolphins got a fortunate break that so many teams were scared off after the video of him in a gas mask came out.

I think he was just a teenager making a mistake and now a few years later, he is ready to be an adult and show that he is indeed a great player. I also think it was a great pick by the Dolphin staff.

I think Tunsil will be an all pro LT in a few years and I can easily see him being a Dolphin mainstay on the OL for the next decade.

    Steal of the draft.

Smoking pot, IMO, is a non-issue. Yes, it's illegal, but I don't think it shows anything about a person's character.

Getting money from his university is also a non-issue. And the NFL can't do anything about it.

If this kid lives up to his potential we will have a top tier LT for years to come. He's a beast.

If he were drafted by the Bills or Patriots you would see a far different majority opinion from people on this board. I don't care about the weed. I don't care about the benefits. What I care about is someone who's willing to fall in line when it comes to what his profession asks for. Someone who follows direction/rules and ditches the entitlement.
