I'm totally stoked we got a #1 overall level pick at #13. We got two starters on defence for trading back too. That's amazing! But Grier really needs to hire a baby sitter for Tunsil. This guy will have more scrutiny than your average players. Weed smoking is what defines this guy now. If this guy fails a single drug test, it'll be Dion Jordan and Jeff Ireland all over again. Will that derail this administration before they've even really started? It's a gamble but this team needs something to raise it above mediocrity. We'll see.
I'm gonna say boo, please don't take it personally, you probably have a legit point, I'm just super pumped, and I am going to say boo. Boooooo!
If he turns into a bust the team is screwed. I'm thinking he made some dumb mistakes and will move on to become a great player but we will find out for sure soon.
Agreed, but not since Ricky, has it been made so public. I'm sure the league will give him extra scrutiny, not to mention the public.
Not to take a "risk" on one player, because another player didn't work out, is how teams decline over the long term. There is a level of risk, in different categories for all prospects. Whether it's off the field, injury history, physical ability, mental ability, etc... I would also like to point out, Miami didn't give up anything to select him at 13, as where Miami gave up picks to select Dion Jordan. In fact, we received Kiko Alonso and Maxwell in return. Even if Tunsil doesn't work out and has off the field transgressions, the #13 pick isn't weighted by just one players performance. The context of the two players in question, Jordan and Tunsil, is apples and oranges, really.
It would sting, but it won't be an administration killer for several reasons. We traded UP for Dion. We got a falling player in Tunsil. Ireland already had a negative history and stink coming from his tenure. This one does not (though some people may argue about TBaum's Jest stint). Jordan was a player without a clearly defined position. Tunsil is. We have a stronger team leader.
In the age of pharmacies, I was a pothead... gas mask on my face, so I'm out to $hit the draft bed... soyyy un porpoise-oh, I'm a Dolphin baby, so why don't you kill me...
What happens? Same that happened with Dion 1.0. We all go "well damn, that really sucks". All the other teams' fans laugh at us. Nothing new or unusual. Here's to hoping Laremy Tunsil 1.1 (pro version) is a good upgrade for the buggy 1.0 (student version).
That's the best point. We traded up for Jordan. We traded down for Tunsil. When you take a consensus top 5 talent at #13, then its worth the risk.
Frankly, I don't see that happening. Never liked the Jordan pick. The staff never knew how to use him and he never has had any desire for the game. I think Ireland thought he was going to be Jason Taylor 2.0 which was ridiculous. Tunsil, I think is quite the opposite. I think he is highly motivated as well as being very talented. This thing with the video releases just adds a higher bit of motivation.
you realize probably half the NFL could be Dion Jordan 2.0. Pot is very prevalent...especially when your in pain from taking a beating and it helps you sleep and get rest. Jordan wasnt ready to make a commitment to the NFL then. Tunsil is a very different personality man. Put it this way. Our Center is a huge Stoner. You worried about him being Jordan 2.0?
It isn't really a reference anymore, because it became ambiguous, referring to any drug, so "he's on dope", would be followed by, "and which "dope" is it?". So it's just easier to say which drug it is, and in truth, pot would be the one drug that it would be most unlikely to referenced as dope anymore, heroin would be the most likely.
Ok, well there you go. I had no idea. I'm about as far away from any drug culture as a person can be.
