The crazy part is that the officiating went against the Heat, the Heat played like crap and STILL WON ON THE ROAD. I wanted to quit watching like 10 times.
So on First Take today they had some interesting things to say about the Heat. First of all, Stephen A. Smith said that in talking to people close to Bosh (he was specific in mentioning that it was not Bosh himself), they feel that the reason (or one of the reasons) why Miami doesn't want Bosh coming back is because they are hopeful that they can get an injury waiver for next year. He seemed a little vague about what this would do for Miami, though. He mentioned the luxury tax, but he also mentioned how this could potentially help them get Durant. Does anyone know any more about the injury waiver? The other thing he mentioned was that Miami is still discussing the possibility that LeBron could come back to Miami. He said that he doubted LeBron would do that, but that Miami has plans just in case it's possible. He said they have $30M to spend and are looking at Durant and LeBron.
I don't think that calling the image of Lowry questionable would be considered trolling in and of itself. The image is blurry and the angle is questionable. Bu I think that calling the Wade getting up after the steal a travel and bringing up the shot clock violation reversed on replay review as evidence of calls going Miami's way certainly comes off as trolling as both of those were proven to be the correct calls.
I believe if Bosh doesn't play for a calendar year, we can apply to have his contract removed from the salary cap (though we would still owe him the money) But I don't know if he would have to officially retire or if he could come back at some point after that. We need Albert Random lol Regardless, that situation has nothing to do with free agency this summer. Noah's contract will still be on the books.
one more time. Not a conspiracy. Incompetency. Falling for flops. Bad Reffing. (is that even a word?)
http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q63 See #63 We could theoretically waive Bosh on the one year anniversary of his last played game (February 9, 2016) in this case. We would then have to show that Bosh's situation constitutes a "medically unacceptable risk ", which is essentially the case we're making now. At that time the league would rule and the contract could come off the cap. A wrinkle is that Bosh could sign somewhere else and if he played 25 games we could be assessed a cap penalty. Additionally, Bosh would be permanently barred from being under contract with the Heat ever again. If we went this route, it wouldn't help this summer, but we would have a sudden influx of cap room at next year's deadline and probably enough for another max in 2017 with the additional cap spike, even if we signed Whiteside and theoretically Durant/LBJ. Wade would still need to take a huge cut next year to get this done though
IMO it's not about motivation nor is it a concerted conspiracy for or against any team. But biases are always going to exist whenever human beings are involved. On Mike and Mike today, Van Gundy talked about how he rarely got technicals called against him, but with one ref he got a technical call every game. It was probably just a personality conflict. And obviously there are refs who are going to call certain violations more closely than others and rarely call other violations. Personality conflicts and ref tendencies will favor or work against certain teams and that is reflected in statistically anomalous W/L totals that teams will have particular refs. It so happens that in the Charlotte series and the first game against Toronto you had officiating crews that had particularly anomalous records officiating Heat games. IIRC form Sect's posts, a Heat team that won almost 70% of their games after the all-star break had approximately a 10% win percentage with those crews. For whatever reason, those crews tended to officiate in ways that hurt the Heat. And the fact is that for most of the Charlotte series the FT disparities were disproportionately in Charlotte's favor (relative to drives). And there were some very questionable non-foul calls against Wade in key moments of last night's game that seemed pretty obvious (and were called obvious by the NBA pundits on the national show). So while I don't think there's an NBA conspiracy, I don't think it's inaccurate to point out that much of the officiating has actually worked against the Heat in these playoffs.
It seems to me that the issue with Bosh is that he feels fine and has found one doctor willing to clear him however the vast majority of medical opinions would not clear him. Unless those majority opinions change, I don't see anyway that the league or the Heat allow him on the court.
Well the league hasnt even been involved. They see the stancd Miami is on and theyre comfortable with it. Spoelstra being a sophmore guard and having witnessed Hank Gathers drop dead duringg a game definitely affects the decision. It does not matter if the NBA PA find a way to force bosh onto the active roster, spo wont give him minutes. He willgive them to mcroberts before he gives it to Bosh. Bosh has to accept it already. Highly doubtful but there is that possibility he becomes angry and asks for a trade in the offseason but Bosh loves Miami so much.
Lebron already looking ahead to facing us int he ECF saying it would be great to play "against those guys".
What I remember hearing the other day is that Miami has consulted with doctors from all over the world and none of them think it would be a good idea to let him play. Was probably heard on sportscenter. Also, something about SPO during his playing days, someone collapsed on the floor in front of him and died during a game. Take no chances Bosh, your family is your legacy!
Ok, Stephen A. is doing his Sirius show right now and just reported that Bosh is not taking blood thinners right now. So in theory, he could play. However, most doctors recommend staying on blood thinners in perpetuity after reoccurrence of a clot as the risk goes way up. This is the Heat's issue. He could get kicked in the calf tomorrow, get a clot and if they don't catch it right away, then you have the "death" scenario Bosh's people also suspect the Heat is looking to get out from the contract since Heat believes they have legitimate chance at KD and potentially LBJ, along with Whiteside etc
Wrong thread - but how in the world has MLB not adopted a strike zone that doesn't rely on human error? Just crazy.
Are you sure that's what he was saying? He didn't suggest that on First Take. He made it seem like they wanted to keep Bosh, but wanted the injury exemption for him missing so much time this year. I believe Miami got one with Alonzo Mourning despite him still being on the team and coming back.
Well, I don't think Stephen A really understood the CBA and frankly neither do I, but based on what I read there is no "cap relief" solution that gives us a max slot and allows Bosh to ever play for us again.
I'm a doctor that treat people with blood clots in my everyday practice. According to guidelines he should be on blood thinners the REST OF HIS LIFE. No and if or buts about it. It doesn't matter if he doesnt currently have a clot. The blood thinners are to prevent a future clot that can develop into a pulmonary embolus (which he had last year) which can be deadly. He should never play again. What he doesnt understand is that once he gets symptoms its to late bc he will already have a clot
Wade said his knee is better than he thought it would be and that by tomorrow it should be fine. Whiteside said his knee is "just sore" and that tomorrow he'll be ready to go.
There is no agenda with the GD officials...SMH The NBA wants and will get a Cavs/Heat ECF. (which of course Miami will lose because they were robbed and ESPN hates brown people)
I don't know that he ever suggested that it freed up a max slot. I think he was suggesting they would get a credit, though. I agree that he probably doesn't have a firm grasp on the CBA, though.
Could be, but I believe Miami got a credit for Mourning when he had his kidney disease and missed time. That was obviously a long time ago, though. I wonder if Section has any info on this. I also might tweet Albert Random to see if he knows.
As far as I know, he needs to retire for the heat to gain a credit one calendar year from his last date played.
Tim Reynolds saying that associates close to Bosh said he had "his heart ripped out in February" and insinuates that there might be other clots. I wonder if this is it and he wanted to just try and play the playoffs before calling it quits
They said there was no visual evidence. But there ya have it. We complained about officiating in OT.....the League says that 6 of the 7 blown calls in the last 3:14 of OT were blown in the Raptors favor. That is all.
I hope not. Love what CB has done for this franchise. It would be a shame to see his career end so suddenly.
Its sad but the guy is a father of 3 and husband of a beautiful wife. That matters more than basketball. Im no doctor but if all the information about his condition is true, its time to retire.
Cavs moving the ball around and making every 3 they take. Hawks done tonight barring a miracle. Cleveland has a really good lineup if they play team ball.
Refs need to go back to school an learn how to call games again. It needs to be nipped in the bud. Call it as it is from tip off. There will be a lot of whistles but only at the early stages because players adjust during games to the style of officiating. The NBA needs to be a lot cleaner for me to be more than a casual fan. I watched the last Warriors game and the amount of crap they get a way with was astonishing too.
Charles Barkley says the Hawks should've "taken out" some of the Cavs players for running up the score.
Shots fired. Not sure who I'm rooting for here.
